Ever since Rancho San Rafael temporarily shut down their dog park due to the ongoing drought, this has been my new go-to for my dogs to run around. One of the perks of this park is that it's never overly crowded. Sometimes there may be up to 10 dogs roaming around the field and other times there isn't any other dogs. It really depends on the time of day you come. One of the cool things I've noticed about Donnelly Park is their canine Christmas tree they put up during the holidays. I thought this was the cutest thing I have ever seen! Every Christmas someone will put up a Christmas tree and everyone is welcome to put an ornament on the tree with their dogs name. I loved this idea for the dog park. It's also well maintained. I don't like having to worry about stepping in dog poop whenever I'm at a dog park. It seems like mostly everyone cleans up after their dog. Kudos!

Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.

I have been here a couple of times with friends and have not been overly disturbed by either the freeway or the homeless. It is a nice walk up the hill from downtown and is a very convenient spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat from Homage. The north edge of the park along University Terrace is much quieter. The park looks well maintained. A lovely, shady, green spot to enjoy on a warm day.
