We recently moved from Northwest Reno to Southeast. I would often visit San Rafael Dog park with our Rottweiler Brooklyn. After our first visit at Link Piazzo Park I was extremely impressed with this Washoe County dog Park. There is a large dog area and small dog area which is enclosed by fencing. The dog areas are a great size, and you can rest assured that the area is completely fenced in. All the dogs so far at this park are extremely friendly, as are their responsible owners. If you live around south Reno I highly encourage you visit this park with any size fur ball who likes to play. read more

Wow I was wrong about Reno not having a dog park like this... It was perfect, had sections for large and small dogs, love that! Some of the dog parks have dirt and that's just awful. The one closet to my home has dirt and a small pool. This is a recipe for disaster since I have a white dog Arggghh. This park is perfect; grassy, trees, benches and water dispensers. The large size was massive to my delight. The best thing there was sweet, friendly dogs and owners. I actually had a guy tell me that my dog was too over weight! It took all I had to say he could loose his grey ponytail but when people go low, I try to go high. It was fun to see all kinds of large dog breeds there and all of them were well cared for and loved by their owners. Even though this place was far from my home it was SOO worth the drive. Without a doubt the best and friendliest dog park in Reno. Beautiful nature and hiking trails within a stone's throw of the dog park area if you fancy something different. The park is separated into two sections - a smaller area for the small dogs, and a much bigger, very spacious area for the bigger pups. The dog park is well-kept and maintained, and is mostly grass, with a steep-ish hill and bushes which the dogs love to explore in. There is a walking path that loops around the whole park. There's also plenty of parking spots right outside the gated entrance. Every dog and owner I have interacted with at Link Piazzo has been very friendly and nice, can't recommend this park enough for dog owners looking to socialize their dogs or let them run around for an hour or so. read more

What an awesome dog park tucked away in hidden valley. There are two sections that are fully fenced, one for little dogs and one for big dogs. There is doggie bags available for messes and lots of water fountains and even a water fountain for pups! It was nice to that there is shaded benches and setting so you don't have to sit on the ground. Plus on a Sunday afternoon lots of pups to run around the huge grassy area. On top of that there are tons of travels and scenic view over looking the whole Reno/sparks valley area. Last but not least it is open late! All the way to 9pm! Very well maintain and everyone cleaned up after there pups. Defiantly a great place to come chill with your pups and even kids having a great jungle gym next to it. read more

A beautiful park with great views of Reno and the surrounding mountains. It's gonna be really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter but I'm here on the perfect day. The park is between a golf course and a nice neighborhood and the desert. The only reason why it's not five stars is because and there's no water for the dogs inside the park. You have to go outside the gate to put the water in a bucket and then carry it in. The surface is grass and dirt. You can see the parking lot clearly from the dog park. read more

Hands-down the biggest and best small-dog park I've ever been to. The grass is always lush, people pick up promptly - I've never stepped in an "easter egg," and the dogs are invariably small and jolly. The location within Hidden Valley Regional Park means that I have the option of going on a mellow hike after some time at Link Piazzo. There are shaded benches, puppy water fountains, human water fountains, and (complimentary) cleanup bags. People are amiable if you approach them, though the park is not hyper-social. read more

The first time we came here was for a UYE. We really love this dog park. It has separate fenced areas for large dogs and small dogs. Located in Hidden Valley, it is a bit of a drive for us, but it is a great park and the dogs love it. We have taken our Pomeranians to other dog parks, but big dogs like to bully them. Our dogs would lay on there backs, feet in the air, and play dead. At this park they run around with dogs there own size. Definitely will be back read more

On a day with clear blue skies and sunshine, Hidden Valley Regional Park is one of my top spots to hike or hang out. It's quintessential high desert tucked away in the back of the Hidden Valley neighborhood, and offers up beautiful hiking trails with vistas of the entire city, an equine arena, and is also home to Link Piazzo Dog Park. This is my favorite dog park in Reno mainly because it is completely fenced in! With quail, dove, and rabbits all over, my German Shorthair Pointer, and escape artist, Riley, would love to find his way under a fence to get at them! But not here... I can take a seat on one of the covered benches and watch from the comfort of the shade, as he runs himself ragged along the very secure fence line, while the wildlife stares back seemingly egging him on! The other nice feature of this dog park is that it's divided into a large dog and small dog park, so I don't need to worry about Riley running over any little guys while he hauls butt from one end to the other. And of course, a good dog park needs good people who understand dogs. For the most part, this is true here. You get the occasional owner who mistakes play for aggression, or doesn't understand dominance and submissiveness and how they play out are a normal part of dog interaction, but most people here are calm, cool, and collected. All in all, this place is good. I'm definitely a fan, and if any other Yelpers go there, look for Riley and I and say hi. read more

BEST DOG PARK IN RENO!! All fenced in and divided based on your size of dog. Brilliant! Plenty of room to have the dogs run around and tire themselves out. People are mainly friendly and you'll get a chance to see a great variety of dogs. Water buckets are placed around the park and the owners take turns filling them up if they are empty, get knocked over, or with some dogs they pee on them (have not figured out why). I'm not sure I would bring small children here due to the size of some of the dogs and not knowing if they were aggressive towards small children. read more

You can't really rate a dog park, I do LOVE this park. But the regulars here that come around 5 pm ruin it. The amount of times I see their dogs poop everywhere and never see them pick it up. They come here to hangout and talk to their friends, which is awesome. But watch out for your dog if they poop, get aggressive, etc. the amount of poop I see around is ridiculous and I do believe it his majority their fault, it's always the same people & they are also always squished pooped. Like thanks for having our dogs and ourselves constantly step in poop.... Love the park in general but that group of people that come around 5 and sit in their lounge chairs, ruin it. read more

Easily a 4 star review as it is the first and still the best dog park to have separate sections for the small guys and the big guys. 30 pounds is the cutoff here. Anything over 30 and you have to go to the big dog side. Both sides are plenty big and, obviously, the big side is much bigger. I've been going here for years with my 15 pound brothers from other mothers and have never had any issues. Occasionally you will have an older big dog or a big puppy on the small side, but that's about the only exception you will ever see. It has real grass and it is well kept. They close for a couple of weeks in the Spring, so watch for the signs to tell you when. They have water stations and poop bags available. read more

I love this dog park !! It is nice and clean and the locals are great! I've lived in the area a month and come here everyday. There are plenty of friendly regulars who are great dog owners ! Everyone watches there dog for the most part. Every now and then there are some bad apples but again that's just what comes with dogs. But owners are good about getting there dogs out. The place is always clean and everyone pitches in with cleaning up and bringing buckets of water for the dog. The grass is nice and maintained as well the space is also pretty big ! So if you're dog isn't good off leash this is the best place to get with a great community of dog owners and dogs alike ! read more

I took my dog to this dog park around 6pm and it was absolutely amazing. My dog doesn't get a chance to socialize with other dogs very often and I was apprehensive as to how he would interact but my fears melted away as one dog owner encouraged me to take him off the leash. He ran and ran, played with the other dogs, chased balls that other owners would throw for any dog who would run after the ball. The other people there were very kind and friendly. The grounds were clean with dog bags available and water dishes placed all around the enclosed fenced area. It was such a wonderful experience and I am sure we will return. I've recently started taking my dog, Leo, to this dog park after some recommendations from my dog owner friends. He absolutely love this place! The minute I drive into the park area he begins to bark with excitement. The dog park is completely fenced in and offers two areas: one for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs. I personally like the separate areas because my dog doesn't realize how big he is and would easily step on or knock over the smaller dogs. There are benches throughout the area for you to sit back, relax, and watch the dogs run around and play. Most of the dog owners I have met there have been very friendly and understand how dogs play with one another. Many of the people don't mind when my dog occasionally drinks from their dog's water bowl or chases after their dog's ball. Leo and I have learned from our frequent visits to bring our own water bowl with extra water to share with his furry friends. The only thing that bothers me about the park are the few people who don't control their dog when it becomes too aggressive or the ones who never clean up after their dog. It's a public place. The best dog park in Reno! There is are separate areas for big dogs and small dogs. For the entrance gate there are two doors so it is difficult for dogs to escape. Poop bags are provided inside the entrance. What I like most about this is it is completely fenced in so none of the dogs can escape and it is regularly checked by Washoe County Parks services. During the summer the water fountain outside works and you can either bring your own bowl to fill up or use the fountain down below. The crowd here is friendly and mostly responsible dog owners but there always occasions where that's not true, but it's rare. read more

I've become a regular at this dog park over the last week, and from what I've heard it's the best option in Reno. First, it's completely fenced, which is amazing for my retired racing greyhound. Love it. I can let her in the park and she can run her little heart out. Amazing. Second, the park is divided between big dogs (over 30lbs.) and little dogs (under 30lbs.). This is great for my grey who is completely sweet with big dogs, but views dogs in the toy category as a rabbit she needs to chase, catch, and keep in her mouth as a prize. Third, the people (and dogs) are generally really friendly (exception: see below). I use this as a social event for me as well at Katie, and it's really nice to chat with folks about their pooches, and just in general. I'm still amazed at how much dog owners talk about poop. Speaking of poop (how often do you get to say *that?*), as with most places, people are generally good at picking up after their dogs and there are bags available in case you forget yours. During the rest of the year there is also water, but because the park assumes it's cold the faucet has been locked up. Owners have improvised, though, and are bringing bottles that all the pups can share. Now, my complaint. The reason why sometimes I think before I throw Katie in the car and head all the way over there. My dog is 70lbs. She goes in the big dog park. She will try to eat tiny dogs. So, I have made signs that I put on the entrance, warning people of this and asking them to please keep their toy dogs in the small park (which I remove when I leave). And yet, people refuse. One lady told me after I asked her politely to move her dog on the other side of the fence that I was being "effing ridiculous." One lady told me she didn't care and insisted on bringing her toy into the park. This forces Katie to be leashed or for us to leave. They believe that their desire to "socialize" their small, aggressive yappers to big dogs is more important than my dog's right to be off the leash. It's infuriating, and people are rude about it. *end rant* I'll still go. I'll still put up my signs. Katie loves the park and loves the other dogs. But every time I'll still have to fight with people so their dogs don't get eaten. read more

After a glowing review 6 years ago, things sort of took a turn for the worse. The regulars turned out to be kind of pretentious and if you just felt like you didn't belong if you weren't part of that group. Our dog had problems with one particular dog (don't know what it was, but they just wanted to fight each other but were fine with all the other dogs). We would go to a different area of the park to avoid this dog, but it's owner never paid enough attention to it to realize what was going on. One of the regulars accused our dog of biting her's. Again, we never took our eyes off of him so we knew that didn't happen. My boyfriend slipped on the gravel and fell and instead of anyone helping him up, they all just stared at him and didn't even ask if he was ok. After all these incidents, we were so fed up that we stopped going for several years. But slowly we started going again and have been happy to see that the whole vibe has totally changed. The crowd is pretty diverse so gone is the pretentiousness. People are paying attention to their dogs and are watchful over how their dog or other dogs are interacting with each other. Everyone is happy to pet each other dogs, throw a ball for them, or give them a drink of water. Sure, occasionally a fight still breaks out, but they are dogs afterall. But no one is blaming each other and it's all good in the end. Really, the last several times we have been has been pretty stress-free. I love seeing my dog so happy and getting some exercise on his own terms, rather than the same old boring walk. And it's nice to know that we can give him that without feeling like outsiders. read more

I have a 5 year old chocolate lab, Zook. He has been hitting up dog parks since he was about 6 or 7 months old. We know what we like in a dog park. This place is really great. The area itself, not just the dog park, is huge. There are trails and pavilions everywhere and lots of parking. It is quite a ways eastward from 395, though. But I feel it is worth the extra miles when we are out and about. So, everyone is on target with their descriptions: 2 areas - 1 for big guys and 1 for small guys. Water fountains. Poop bags. There's a trail within the fenced park area that you can use to put your dog in the right frame of mind by walking him/her around a couple of times before unleashing their energy onto other park visitors. The dog owners seem pretty level headed. I have yet to run into a maniac there. However I know they're out there... I like the San Rafael Park a bit better because it's SO much bigger. But for dog socialization and ease of picking up their poop (I don't have to walk half a mile to find the pile) Link Piazzo Park is great. Fuji Park is a must if you're ever in Carson City with your canine companion, though. It's right by Costco, behind that casino on HWY 395 & Old Clear Creek Rd. read more

Just went here with our 6 month old small dog, Pickles. It was all of our first time at a dog park and I was really impressed with this place. It separated small and large dogs which was nice. There was ample parking and the grounds were really clean. There is a double gated entrance to ensure no one escapes. Many trash bins and a huge grassy area and benches. Pickles was terrified at first but all the dogs were really friendly and he was playing in no time. We will be coming here every week from now on!! read more

This is the 2nd dog park we've visited in Reno. This park separates dogs under 30lbs and over 30lbs. When we got there around 11am on a Sunday, only the big dog park had dogs. Around 12pm, the small dog side started to get more dogs. The people here were friendly, and there was a lot of space for the dogs to run around. The fences are completely enclosed, so no way you can lose your little monster. After being stuck in the hotel room for 3 days (due to snow), and then being freaked out by the New Years Eve fireworks, etc, Hamlet was loving this park, and loved having all the space to run, and the little hills, etc to chase his buddies around. Even though it's not as close to the freeway or the ski resorts, we'd go a bit out of our way to go to this dog park now. Tips: Bring your own water bowl as the water fountains here freeze up when the weather is cold, and there is only a water fountain outside, not inside while they're playing. read more

This park is great. The grass is nicely grown out, there's plenty of flat and hilly land for the dogs to roam. Trees, benches and a walking path around the park is abundant for all goers who want to chill or want to actually walk with their dogs. People who come here regularly pick up their dogs' poop.
