Tight parking lot in front, yet there is a larger lot that you get to by driving up the driveway in front next to the wood fence. Live music and karaoke. Pool tables. Inexpensive drinks. Open until 3 am on weekends; 2 am weekdays. What a great find! read more

Very dark, outdated, music is so loud you can not talk to the person next to you. The staff however are very kind and friendly.

So, it's worth stating (again) that a "3" means, to me at least, "good." This is a good dive bar. I love the whole vibe of this place, it reminds me of bars I frequented in my college days and 20s and the service is friendly. They have pinball, pool tables, and various other games. There are a solid number of beers on tap as well as many more by can or bottle. Prices are fair. Depending on when you are coming, there is a decent amount of free parking as well. My only "complaints" are that---well, it's not within walking distance of much and that's a cornerstone for high-rated "neighborhood" bars. But more importantly, this is a BEER ONLY bar. Granted, I only wanted a beer or two when I stopped in recently so it more than fit the bill for me. But a dive bar where you can't have a well whiskey or a cheap G&T? Seems very odd. Despite that, I'd certainly return as beer is my go to these days and a nice cool spot with friendly service where you can shoot pool and drink a beer or two in an unpretentious and economical environment with good tunes playing is a gem, for sure. Ok. Here we go. First off don't be turned off or away by the low key spot. It looks like a hole in the wall bar and guess what, it is! But please please stop by and enjoy this hidden gem. The staff here are welcoming and great. The beer is cheap as can be. You may feel out of place and you are. But they make you feel at home. I enjoyed my stay. No one made me feel out of place. They have shuffle board, electronic darts, jenga, pool, arcade games. But bottom line is this. The downtown bars are expensive and the music is hard to hear. This place is cheap, welcoming and the music is tolerable. Great place. The bathroom needs work but it's a bathroom. Deal with it. read more

Oh the Donelson Pub. Flew in to Nashville with my buddies, landed mid morning and looking for an ice cold beer. We happened to stumble upon this gem. We came in, it was somewhat smoky, locals sitting around. Bingo, we found where we are drinking. My buddies (2 of us) and I sat there and drank for some time. The locals bought us beer, we bought them beer, then commingled with them. Bartenders were great, my friends and I actually helped the owner bring in some waters and beer from his truck. I Dream of Dive Bars!! Nothing better than a great dive bar!! This one does beer, lots of beer, and at $2.25 a bottle, you'll never beat it. No food, but I can deal with that. Pool tables, darts, pinball, and newer electronic games. Bar maids were fantastic, and sweet as could be, unless you're a regular, then I guess you're fair game. We had a thirteen hour road trip to Nashville and I would do it all again just to visit this bar again. We were treated like regulars from the moment we walked in. If you're looking for a more low-key, hole-in-the-wall bar this is the place. Your beers come fast and they're cheap. You just can't beat that! The bartender Jessica was super friendly. I've read many of these reviews and they all seem to like the dive bar atmosphere and the quick and friendly service given by most of the bartenders...but....management lacks! The Donelson Pub doesn't purport to be anything other than the neighborhood hangout that it is, and it's a decent place full of fun, decent people. Smoking allowed, perhaps encouraged. Cash only, but there is an ATM, the service charge is $2. No beers on taps, all bottles/cans, but all are $2.25 and crazy ice cold. I didn't see any whiskey or other spirits. The service was friendly, and when I was there I felt for all the world like I was hanging out in a new friend's garage drinking beers and watching the antics of locals that have known each other for decades. read more

I was just seeking a cold beer close to my hotel. So I walked over to catch a brew. There were two reviews online that were very good so I was looking forward to a cold brew. Just a look from the sidewalk it looked bad. But how many places look like a dump happen to be cool. I should have ran to the Domino's across the street and screemed in glory I found heaven. The place looked like a convered dentist office from the road. The front doors were open with a 8' fan blowing smoke out. (Obama should fine this place for global warming). Walked in and the clients seemed like Bingo retirees. Smoke filled this dump and everyone looked at me like I had three eyes. Sat at the bar to grab a beer. Well, 12 minutes later I gave up. Nobody was working the bar. The only reason I stayed that long was to wait for the scores on ESPN. There were people sitting around the bar and table tops. They all looked like were exposed to asbestos their whole life. Stoned eyes with no response and sucking their Marlboro. Sorry I had to give this place a one star. It should be a negative ten. What a fn dump. Not even the words "dive bar" would be appropriate. Actually, this would be an insult to this absolute shit hole. read more

This bar is an authentic dive bar. Rare to find around Nashville these days. Beer only and cash only. Beers are $2.25 and they have 4 pool tables and darts. It can be a little smoky but that is part of the dive bar experience in my books. Most beers are domestic bottles but they do have a few import beers for a slightly higher price. You don't find places like this anymore. It's smokey, its playing juke box music, the bartenders are loud and amazingly charismatic with no filter. Pool tables, darts, shuffle board, karaoke on Thursday. I adore this place. Beer only, cash only. Simple as that. Cheap and fantastic. Then on top of that you have incredible people like Angie behind the bar. She's got that southern sass and fire that's so damn glorious I'd rather sit at the bar just to talk with her. Been to the Pub several times, It is a true Dive Bar, It only serves Beer, but that is OK, the people(LOCALS) are great, they have never met a stranger, the Bartenders do like to talk, but you never have to wait for a drink. they stay on top of that.
