Was down in the area for work... this is an area of the state that is really of contrast it's incredibly beautiful but incredibly poor. You can see some of these former manufacturing/railroad towns resemble something out of Alabama or Mississippi (Salamanca and Jamestown are poster childs of that). On the way back to the hotel in Olean I drove by St Bonaventure and found this Mexican restaurant. Astonishingly authentic excellent salsa with chips to start... along with a pork verde sauce with refried frijoles and yellow arroz.. A huge portion of beautifully stewed pork with a tomatillo sauce. Very friendly service and very very authentic. I think for the college kids they probably catered to there's a huge array of Tequilas as well. If you're going to Allegheny state park or the Seneca Niagara Casino or visiting your kids at St Bonaventure this is a great stop. read more

I'm really mad about our visit yesterday we went on $1 margarita Monday. We got 1 $16 dinner, 1 $8 lunch special, and 2 $1 margaritas. We were charged $46 and change... how is this possible?!?! When I said "I think our bill is wrong" all of the sudden her English was bad and she just ran our card anyway. We only tipped her $5 because our bill was wrong, she never checked on us once, she never asked if we wanted drink or chip refills, and she never brought out the hot sauce we asked for. I'm mad and not going back for a long time because we got terrible service and pretty much robbed $20. read more

Do not go to this place they lied to you. They change prices and they didn't think I could understand Spanish and charged us $58.65 for four drinks.! I am very disappointed. It was absolutely terrible to be ripped off and I will be contacting my bank. How dare them think that I didn't understand what they were saying and try to manipulate and rip off a 75-year-old woman! Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food here. Was in the area Easter Sunday and this was the only place we found open. Menu had plenty of options. The Queso Fundido was excellent. Tacos Al Pastor were pretty good. Very nice selection of Mexican beers. Jumbo margarita was large! read more

I really wanted to give Don Tequila a 5-star rating because I have been a fan of their food for awhile (owners used to be at other Mexican restaurant in Olean, NY). Always a fan of chips, salsa and cheese dip before my meal! Ordered steak tacos with a side of rice/beans. Everything was fantastic until I started getting a gritty substance in my mouth. Dealing with cilantro at home, I found the cause to be unwashed cilantro. Still had sand on it. A major turnoff! I will however give Don Tequila's my business as this has been my only complaint with then EVER! Hopefully it was just a one-time mistake. Suggestions from there would be their enormous 'Burrito Rolando' with comes covered in three separate sauces (rojo, cheese, verde). Inside is filled with steak, chicken, beans and french fries! Update: they now have credit card processing! Still awesome Mexican food! Prior review: This used to be an average Mexican restaurant called La Roca but the new "Don Tequila" is much better. My prior go-to Mexican restaurant for the Olean area was El Mariachi. Apparently there was some buying and selling and moving of Mexican restaurants and now there is this great restaurant in Allegany that is a copy of my former favorite. The menu is identical to the old El Mariachi and the food quality is excellent. Portion sizes are great for the price. I tried the Quesadilla Tequila and my wife had fajitas. Both were great and full of flavor just like I remember from El Mariachi. Currently they are cash only as they are still getting payment processing. read more

Being from California I have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food, and admittedly we are pretty spoiled. That being said, this place was quite tasty, food was fresh and man! They had a lot of options!! Would need to come back just to keep trying options. Passing through on a road trip, this spot was a perfect stop. We ordered food via telephone at 5:25pm. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We arrived at 5:45pm, they said it would be ready in a minute. At 6pm we asked again about our food and the one guy working got snippy and said to be patient. At 6:20pm we asked again. The guy swore at us. We left. The one customer also waiting said he saw a rat run across the floor. We will never go here again. read more

Food was tasty. Service was quick. The place was quite busy with only one server however. Everything seemed fresh. The salsa and chips was fresh. The chips were light and airy. I ordered the fajita burrito. The peppers were a little bitter and I thought it was supposed to come with guacamole but it did not. Mi amore ordered enchiladas with three different sauces on it. He ate it all so it must've been good. Chicken taquitos off the appetizer menu were for me the best out of the three dishes. Realistically though for the middle of nowhere it was really good. The flavors were there. And it's not like at Taco Bell where no one seems to be able to make a burrito that each section is a different ingredient rather than layered so you get everything each bite. The inside (floors, bathrooms, etc) was dated and messy. I'd eat here again. read more

This is going to be a short review as the hour is late. I had lunch with my little cousin here today and have to hit the highlights. Service: Prompt, friendly, not pushy. Our waitress checked in more than once. Food: We both ordered the same dish, as it's a bench mark for if we will return. Pollo con Mole, great depth of flavor. Little more smoky than I'm used to but delicious. No hard fatty chicken here. The black beans were actually seasoned so well and the rice actually had visible veggies. I was truly impressed as the last restaurant in this spot was an abomination. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. I was caught totally by surprise by this establishment. Very happy we just decided to give it a go. Five star. UPDATE: Back today. Mole enchiladas are fabulous. The chips were hot and fresh. Rice again delightful and those beans are just so flavorful. The service is beyond excellent. Can't wait to come again. read more

This location has been the site of numerous failed Mexican restaurants. Loving Mexican food I've tried them all. I suspect this is a rebrand for a failed operation that existed in Olean as the same problems from that version have carried over to this version. Fajita beef was rubbery and poorly cut. That's just lazy to precook it to death. Place wasn't busy. No excuse. Everything was flat in flavor. 3 of us ordered iced tea and within fifteen minutes the little bit of ice had melted. Asked for refills and was only given more tea. There were regular flies and fruit flies in December. The restaurant faces south and hasn't invested a penny in Windex. Windows and doors are gross. The unused side of the restaurant is filthy and cluttered. Tortillas came 5 minutes after food. Will be a different Mexican restaurant in a few months. Again. Bummer. read more

The girl who took my phone order on a Saturday evening was super nice, and she got everything exactly right. The only reason we are subtracting a star is because both their salsa and their red enchilada sauce needed *salt* added. Without the salt they tasted a little like canned tomato, with the salt, they were *Really, Really Good*. The Steak Miramar was cooked to specification, and the shrimp in that dish were good too, however these were a bit drowning in their yummy cheese sauce. (For takeout, anyway, I would recommend asking for the cheese sauce on the side.) Chips were not "light and airy" as a previous reviewer had commented, but they were fresh - alas the chips needed salt too - and being on a roadtrip, we had none with us! Still - the TexMex flavors, freshness, cooking and service of this restaurant were all ON POINT and we wouldn't hesitate to visit again next time we journey that way. (But next time we'll bring a salt grinder along!) read more

Excellent! Without a doubt, the best Mexican food I have ever had. Wife and I stopped in yesterday (9/2) based on other reviews on Yelp. Loved the fresh chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. We ordered fried mushrooms as the appetizer and they were awesome. For my meal, I had the enchilada tequila (beef), and I was amazed after the first bite. Cooked to perfection, and the cheese sauce was delicious. The rice that came with it was outstanding. We will definitely be back. read more

Very disappointing experience at Don Tequilla. My buddies and I went here tonight for dinner, and it took over an hour to receive our food. We watched multiple parties of people sit down after us, order, eat, and pay within this hour. While this is all happening, the waitress did not come to our table once to refill drinks or apologize. When we finally received our food, 2 of my buddies meals were wrong and one of them got their meal wrong THREE times. When the check came, we asked if we could be compensated in any way and they gave us a lousy $2 off per meal. Incredibly poor customer service and will not be returning nor do I recommend ever eating here. read more

After changing hands a number of times we finally decided to check out the new place. Wow! Nice place with perfect Mexican ambiance. The wait staff was prompt and courteous. I love carnitas and decided to try the Enchiladas Rancheras which is three cheese enchiladas smothered in pork tips, onions and peppers. It was delicious. Very pleased with my choice. The other three people with me got their favorite Mexican dishes and they did not disappoint. We left very full and very happy! read more

We went on my dad's birthday to celebrate. A waitress doesn't seat you down. She will point out where to sit. It happen to the same restaurant I was at in Portville. The place does offer burgers and a vegetarian menu too. Overall they have a variety of Mexican cultured foods and look delicious. I had a cheese burger with fries and it actually pretty good. A lot of burger joints where I live are okay , but this place was actually pretty good. The funniest thing was a little girl running around and seeing her toys in the middle was actually pretty funny. Cute little girl and she ran up and poked my dad's jacket. It was funny to be honest. The only thing was off was saying what you want. Nothing bad at all , but speaking up was the only complaint. Overall it was good anyone around the area or coming to town should come. read more

First off. I came in here with high praise from my friends with high expectations. Wow was I surprised... Ordered daiquiri and tasted like a virgin daiquiri with barely any alcohol in it. Chips had a weird bland taste to them as well, but the salsa was very good. To add on top of that our group ordered food and it took 50+ minutes for it to come out with tables beside us getting there food before us when they arrived 15 minutes after us. Waitress never came to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. and when the food came out, two of the orders were wrong and when asked to be fixed they continued to screw up the order two more times. This horrible experience led us to ask for some sort of compensation and they gave us a lack luster $2 off our bill. Let me tell you.. worst restaurant experience i've had in a long time especially when I spent $35+..Food was good but customer service was awful and that reflected in my tip. Due to the customer service I would not recommend this establishment and I will not step foot in there ever again. read more
