Don rite, don rite, don rite, where should I start? My experiece here was just an absolute nightmare. These guys are complete con artists. Nacho, the mechanic, has horrible customer service skills, and mechanical skills. I basically got robbed here. I brought my car in one day to get my harmonic balancer replaced. This required the timing belt to get removed so they can work. Ok. They charged $65. I was shocked at how low the price was, I said "Wow, whats the catch?". In the end, the car came out worse than when I brought it. The mechanic named Nacho knows his manager with the glasses is a crook. I went up to say hi to him and immediately tood me, if I need to yell at someone about the work to yell at the manager. I paid a lot of money for different services. They forgot to do an oil change, they did not change that hamonic balancer, change the serpentine belt, they left part loose, and the serpentine belt came off loose because they they did not tighten the alternator. I got it done at another place and it comes out that Nacho shredded the threading on the bolt and nut that keeps the alternator tight. My new mechanic had to cut the bolt with a sawsaw. There are way better mechanics. I found one after, and they have been the best with my cars. Don Rite does not live up to the name, nor should they be running such a horrible shop. Just to point out, I gave these guys a lot of chances to redeem thenselves. I always brought up the issues they left and just denied it and told me they would fix it. They would charge more they half ass it and not do things that were a part of the original quotes. A mistake coming here. Wish I can give negative 5 stars. read more

PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE !!!!!!!!!!! Save Your Money for a Real Mechanic Not this scam of a place. Came in 5/29/25 on Thursday with 2 codes for oxygen sensors . The 2 sensors were replaced and car was ready Friday, Drove off the lot and 5 minutes later the car turned off, I was told to drive the car until a check engine light came out. Well 5 hours later the engine light came on and now my car does not run and now I have 7 codes of random misfires on different cylinders. Went in for a smoke test (not smog) and he seemed careless to know or even check my car. We talked over a price 65$ for the test, which he did not do. Initially he stated the car would be 2-3 hours ended up giving him the benefit of the doubt and gave him a day. He didn't do anything to my car, I ended up doing the smoke test myself with a homemade smoke machine (really easy) and ended up finding the leak I had. I wouldn't even have bothered because I'm not to ruin one's business but this is not a business this is a scam. On the day back to pick up my car he wanted to charge me an additional 150$ for god knows what. When he didn't do anything! Terrible service, I wouldn't trust them with any work on any vehicle honestly. I know it's hard to make a living but don't take advantage of people. Especially from your own community. Literally the most unprofessional place I have EVER been to. DO NOT COME HERE AND WASTE MONEY. They charged me $620 and did the most bullshit job. My car came out with a noise I never had and now they're saying it's something different. They also spilled coffee on my seat and didn't admit to anything, came back and cleaned it with a rag. I have so much to say but not enough time...I'll make a long story short .... brought my vehicle in for idling issue, waiting 3 hours to get service (I'm about the first one their at 830 ) had to wait an hour for the boss mind you ... so around 12 they finally get to my vehicle...the guy told me to pop the hood , he top the water off .. the boss comes to me and says "it was low on water , it's running fine " I'm like WHAT !! does adding water have to do with rough idling... so giving him.the benefit of the doubt, I drove it around the block and still running rough ...(as I knew it would ) pull in to tell him ..he's on the phone in front of me for ten minutes, I'm standing In front of him being VERY patient...after waiting for 4 to get service , got top off with water , then ignored for ten minutes I finally had enough and left and will never return ...rude and bad service coming from the boss ... if you have time to waste, don't do it here ... read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Very unprofessional and dishonest. Took them 2 months to change a engine. The person whom pu the new engine didn't put the cables of the alternator right and it damaged it. No one took responsibility for it. read more

The DMV across the street directed me to Don Rite (directly across the street from the DMV) to have my smog test done. After about five minutes, I was approached with a piece of paper showing a little box in the middle of it that stated that the connection had failed...he told me that the computer couldn't read my car's VIN No. information because there was some sort of disconnection somewhere. I was told that they could diagnose the problem, but that it would cost me $60.00 to do the diagnosis, and then another 2-3 hours of labor. YEAH RIGHT!!! After leaving the DMV, I decided to go ahead and take the chance to drive my car over to my mechanic's shop on Vermont and 228th Street (Top Value Auto Repair). The loud noise ended up being my power steering belt, which needed replacing. GUESS WHAT? Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!!! They were able to hook my car up to the smog equipment, and had no trouble at all getting it smogged. There was no disconnection at all. Me thinks I smell a rat who may like to take advantage of people who don't have the time or don't know any better. That piece of paper I was shown at Don Rite Automotive Repair may just be a piece of paper that they keep laying around to show people. I will be turning this matter over to the Department of Automotive Repair and to the DMV. The Dept of Automotive Repair should contact other people who went to Don Rite's to have their cars smogged to find out if they were also boondoggled. Sorry Don Rite, your story just did not seem credible to me, and I'm glad that I went ahead and drove over to my mechanic's shop to find that you weren't telling the truth as I had suspected. I've been bringing every car I ever owned here to Don Rite. The DMV across the street recommended this shop when I needed a smog check. I've also gotten air conditioning repair, and engine work when the check engine light came on. They're really friendly and work fast. Plus the pricing can't be beat. Definitely recommend. read more

Horrible service !!! Paid for a diagnostic for my ac they told me bullshit paid over 200 ! Then they said that didn't work so 70 extra to do another diagnostic I said no way taking my car to get serviced elsewhere ! I wouldn't recommend these people if you are in a rush. They said they could do a simple oil change within 25 mins. It's been over an hour and I'm literally still sitting here. I had to come out and inquire after an hour since I wasn't given a courteous update initiated by them. Took my car here the other day, the check engine light came on and Don Rite was recommended by a family friend. I did not like the look of the place and i was unsure of the service but, I ended up surprised with the price and service and they had it ready to go the next day. I understand not everyone will be lucky as me but for me they are great and will i be coming back in the future. I should not judge a book by its cover. read more

To begin with, when I arrived I waited almost 2 hours! After he asked what I need to do, I said that I needed a diagnosis, he said it would cost $ 75 well, I asked him for a smoke check? He said yes, I said that I have a certificate that I passed yesterday! in the end he took the car, drove around the block and said that I don `t know what the problem was! Do not take your vehicle here. They had my car over a week with excuse after excuse on why it wasn't done. I finally had to just come get my car. They claimed I had to pay for the work that was done even though the smog problem wasn't fixed. They didn't put it back together properly. Deep scratches on my car. Hood shocks no longer work. This guy is horrible not friendly, and takes care of other stuff before in between your smog. I thought this was best place because it is right across DMV but man owner is not PRO CUSTOMER SERVICE what so ever, my vehicle failed first smog, and guy said it was 70$ to tell me what is wrong. I went to 3 different mechanics after that all which have no relationship and they all reviewed my failed test and said it was catalyctic converter, at no charge. after taking care of my issue I go back to don rite and guy takes one full hour to smog the car and with in that time texting calling opening shop, I have been to other shops and in and out in 15 max.
