I'm so shocked...after going here for over a decade I just discovered today that they served breakfast ALL DAY LONG and have been doing so for 3+ years! Pretty much the only time I eat here is during "breakfast hours" bc I love their breakfast burrito so much. And many of the times I avoid this place despite being near by is bc I assumed they weren't serving breakfast burritos and I'd rather get other Mexican fare at the many food carts a few mins south of DP. The DP breakfast burrito is fantastic....it is a perfect rendition of an American style breakfast burrito (and IMO the classic American style BB is the best). The eggs and potatoes were both nice and soft and provide texture but hide out in the background so that you could enjoy the protein and pile on the hot sauces and salsas from their salsa bar. I feel like the price for the breakfast burrito has remained relatively cheap in comparison to the minimum wage which makes me really happy as well. So many things have gone up in price in 2022 bc of inflation so it's nice to see things that were great values remain great values (and you can argue that it is cheaper now than it used to be relative to the cost of labor. read more

Wow. I honestly cannot overstate how helpful the staff is here. I planned a company party with pretty little time to prepare, but given 20 hours notice, Don Pedro put together a great spread! We had them do a Taco Bar for 40 people with chicken, carne asada, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, onions, cilantro, green/red salsa, rice, and chips, and it was a hit. Great value, too. This version of Don Pedro, though a little further away from the infamous downtown location, is just as good, if not better than its sister competition. After awhile, many Mexican joints remain the same with similar menus, prices, and service. The distinction that Don Pedro has over other joints is the awesome taste of their food, ranging from their (fish) tacos, burritos, and Mexican specialties. They are "fast food" enough to have their own drive through window, though the food is always cooked from scratch. From my perspective, the reason I come here is for the freshness of the food, not for a quick fix like at Taco Bell or Del Taco. Don Pedro is literally on par with Muchas Gracias chains of Oregon and with additional visits, I may just give them the upper nod. read more

So I always used to go to the Fourth Plain location in Vancouver when I worked up there and every time I had a great meal. I just moved to SE so I wanted to check out the closest one to my house - it took me a bit cause I didn't want to be disappointed (I was not). I love Mexican food, there's just something about the authenticity that takes me to a place that I've never physically been. In my opinion Don Pedro's is the worse Mexican food I've tasted in Portland! I can name three places that taste way better right off hand: King Burrito, Javier's and Muchos Gracious. There are also great places on Alberta. Anyways, I ordered the carne Asada taco and a carnitas taco... Both of them were dry and lacked flavor. I wouldn't normally review right now, but this place really lends itself to takeaway with a drive up window and all. The tacos are a reasonable price and really loaded with meat. They give you both green and red sauce on the side. The carne asada is really flavourful. Usually I prefer chicken or pork, but that is really tasty. The tostadas are so delicious. They're one of my favorite things anywhere and here they're a good size, taste great, fully loaded. Same with the sopas, delicious fry bread. Burritos are also big and delicious. One thing I cannot recommend is the taco salad. It's more of a mini. It's built backwards and doesn't have much going on. Not much flavor, just a lot of lettuce. And it was clearly a salad mix rather than just lettuce, which was weird. No tomatoes or salsa either. Hard pass on that. Which is sad because the tortilla bowl was nice and crispy. This was my first time ordering from Don Pedro's. I figured I'd give it a try since I'd never ordered from there before. I ordered three things: Carne Asada Fries, a California Burrito, and a Carne Asada Burrito. 1) C.A. Fries: They were a "in-the-middle" 3 outta 5. The meat tasted good, and there was just enough cheese that I wasn't unhappy, but could have used more. It was loaded with Pico and Jalepenos, which I did not care for so much simply because there were too many. I love pico, and jalepenos, but not when they overpower the meal like that. I had to scrape half of them off. There was a little tiny dollop of Guac, and a tiny dollop of Sour Cream. The menu on Uber Eats didn't offer a spot to order extra, which I would have been happy to pay for if I'd know there was so little. Lastly, the Fries were a bit on the soggy side, making me think perhaps they weren't made fresh and had been sitting for a bit. All in all, not a bad meal, I still finished it, but not great. 2) California Burrito: Decent size, decent flavor, kinda over-stuffed with fries for my taste having come from San Diego where we eat them at least once a week. Overall, not bad. Again, lacking on the sauce situation. 3)C.A. Burrito: Exactly what you'd expect. It has everything in it that's on the menu, albeit could use more meat and less filler. Overall, it was pretty decent. I don't regret trying it, it was a tasty meal for the price point, and they were quick in making it, I only waited about 30 min, and that included the Uber drive time, so if you're picking up, I'm sure you'd get it faster. HUGE (FOR ME) THING TO POINT OUT!!! IF YOU WANT EXTRA RED OR GREEN SAUCE, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR BAG BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!. Usually I like this place. But tonight I went through the drive-through and a young lady was working the window. I ordered chips and salsa among some other things. After she took my money for the chips and salsa for telling me it was $1.75... Shortly after she told me that there was no salsa. I said OK then no thank you I don't like to eat the chips without the salsa. I think that's a pretty normal request I would imagine. As soon as I said that I didn't want the chips and salsa anymore because they were out of the salsa she immediately got super pissy with me. From that point on she was annoyed that she had to refund my money. She ended up giving me back $1.25 and when I asked her wasn't it $1.75... She said no it was $1.25. Even though it was only $.50 she still jacked me on my money. I mean I'm really sorry that they were out of salsa and I prefer my chips and salsa... But I shouldn't be made to feel bad as if I'm inconveniencing them and totally pissing them off because I would prefer to not order it after Sherry ring it in. Over the years I have tried this restaurant hoping things would improve, but sadly it never does. The best meal I have had there was a burrito about 3 years ago and it was because I added guac to it.
