My partner & I love this place. We are about 15min away from here but will make the drive for some solid food. What I've realized however is that service & accuracy tank at night. We have gotten burritos with hard, flavorless rice. We get tacos where they completely change the meat & swap it out with something different. We also have gotten nachos with the wrong meat. During the day, the accuracy, the taste, & everything else is spot on. It's disappointing to sometimes be met with inaccurate orders. read more

***SCAM ALERT ‼*** My family has been coming to this place for over a decade. I never imagined I'd be leaving a negative review for a spot that used to be our favorite go-to for tacos. Be on the lookout; the current staff are scammers. First incident: I ordered 5 tacos ($2.50 each) for pickup with extra onions and cilantro. When I got there, the cashier rang me up for $12.50, but then she fiddled with the register and suddenly the total jumped to $20. I didn't think much of it at the time (which is exactly what they want is for you to not pay attention). I paid and drove off, but later I started wondering if the prices had gone up again. I let it sit overnight. Second incident: I ordered 5 tacos again (still $2.50 each). The cashier rang me up for $12.50, just like before, but when he came back to take my card, the total suddenly shot up to $25. I called him out on it, but he claimed it was an error with the register. Takeaway: When you look down to get your cash/card, they'll sneakily adjust the total on the register. Don't make the same mistake I did. We're a huge fan of their tacos but it's a shame they've started this scamming practice. Will be looking for another taco place. read more

BEST STREET TACOS EVER! I highly recommend this place. They're tacos are cheaper on Wednesday, but it doesn't even matter because it's so good I just pay the extra $0.25. Beware of what time you're going to order because during lunch or dinner you could possibly wait 30 minutes for your food. They are a bit conservative with their lime and sauces but just ask for extra and there won't be any additional charge. This place, La Catrina, is a riot. It's a food cart or food truck on a pebbly lot along S.E. 82nd that serves up a bunch of different Mexican food items. Spending my formative years in SoCal at a time when the prevailing mindset was dismissive of food trucks has influenced how I view them today. However, in years of driving down S.E. 82nd, I would see tacos for 99 cents on Wednesdays advertised in front of Rocco's bar and thought it was the bar that had might have had a Taco Wednesday. Nope. It's the food truck that offers them up at that price. One can choose beef, chicken, and other fillings. I chose chicken. The cilantro came with them, but I had them omit the onions, telling the lady there, "Sin cibolla, por favor." She engaged me in Spanish, which is something I like because it means I can keep up what I learned in college. After a while, I approached the counter and asked, "?Mis tacos son listos?" She put the clamshell and some napkins in a plastic bag and handed it to me, so that obviously signaled "affirmative." I had never been to Rocco's before and they told me that it's cool for customers to bring in their taco deals, so I did. When I bit into these two tacos, they were delicious and the chicken was tender and flavorful. And, at that price, complaining is out of the question. They were better than what I've had at some restaurants which were supposed to be good (*cough*). Not only that, the lady working there was nice. I used to really love this place but over the years this place has gone down for me. The food is still pretty good but the problem I have with it is the price. They raised their prices almost 3x what it used to be. I will give them the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately that is what has been keeping me away from this establishment. I still believe that La Catarina's Green sauce is unmatched. The sauce is what I come here for. If you're planning on going to this place late at night, be prepared to wait a good 30 to 40 minutes as it gets really busy. Hooray for Lengua Tacos. I totally treasure the taste and texture of tender tongue tacos. The version at La Catrina may not be the best (and they're not), but they are relatively quick and convenient from this taco truck in SE Portland near Clackamas. * Lengua Taco (3 stars) I tried a trio of these Beef Tongue Tacos. They weren't terrific or terrible. They were tolerable. I'll get them again when in need. * Al Pastor Taco (2 stars) Poor pork and a sweet sauce doomed the La Catrina version of marinated and grilled Pork Tacos. There is a small, shared parking lot and about 4-5 picnic tables available. Like most food trucks, a visit here will be dependent on the weather and your desire for convenient and quick Mexican-style tacos and burritos. read more

I've attended this food cart many times and is quite popular within the area. This is probably some of the best and most authentic Mexican food within the Clackamas/Happy Valley area. Every time I eat here I know it's going to be a satisfying experience. I've had the Carne asada burrito, and it's on point every time with a generous portion of meat with refried beans, rice and spices. Their taco are delicious too and hard to resist, especially on Wednesdays when they're only a dollar. Not to mention their menu contains so many entree options with so many different meats to choose from. I'm going to have to start trying different items out from this place, as their food has been so enjoyable and delicious every time. read more

Everything but the kitchen sink. The only way to describe such a sandwich. It's hedonistic and frivolous and gratuitous. And good. This torta is also gargantuan. And I am describing the smaller of their two kitchen sink tortas, the cubanita ($6.50). I have never even been tempted to even try the larger version called the torta cubana ($10.00). So what's in this sandwich, you ask? More than anyone needs. Fried egg, ham, hot dog, milanesa (a breaded thin fillet in case you didn't know), American and Jack cheese, avocado, tomato, and jalapenos. All this on a bolillo of course. This ends up being a salty mess-o-flavor that will sit in your belly like a rock. I have never decided if it is worth it, but I keep coming back for more. They also have the usual tacos, burritos, and other tortas, none of which I have tried yet, but plan to if I can ever put down the cubanita. Also, it is important to note that this is a taco truck. In a gas station parking lot. But they do have a semi-perminant structure that you can sit an eat in. Parking can be tough. read more

I went back. Wanted a breakfast burrito post Post Pardum Doctor visit at Kaiser. Really wanted a tasty and filling breakfast burrito. Dry eggs, rice at the bottom. Could use some avocado. The salsa was off. they added way too much pepper. It was also $6.50 for a burrito. That is $1.50 too much, at least, if not more. I am sure these were not farm fresh eggs, they tasted like mass factory farm ones (i only know since I became a fresh-from-the-coop-snob). They also just cooked them a little too much. With that, as if it was not enough to be disappointed in the burrito enough.. the salsa was changed up. They made it far too hot. BOTH the green and red.. BUTT especially the red sauce. Why did I spell BUTT that way? I had a gig that night that involved sweating, and running after I threw down a track, every 2-3 songs for about an hr. Spent a good portion of the night (this is 11 hrs later) with serious intestinal issues. Asses of Fire. Anal Holocaust. Lots of prayers and rocking forward, back, side to side. I am looking forward to letting go of this experience. Luckily I am on a road trip to CA to full fill my need for a good breakfast and veggie burrito, and to help me heal from this experience.
