I used to live in Liberty NY for 3 yrs, I love mexican food,this was the only Mexican restaurant in town,,the people aren't polite at all, if you place an order for pick up ,they would tell u 20 mns and it would be more like an hour and then cold,no good service at all ,the owner has a very nasty attitude and discriminates against certain ethnic minorities.. read more

Came to the area to cut down our Christmas tree at Pine Farm Christmas Trees! Excellent, fresh food. The pico de gallo & guacamole were freshly made to order & delicious. Great authentic dishes. My husband and I discovered Don Gabriel's when it was still called North Main Grocery. We went in to buy some canned tomatillo salsa. The owner didn't have any but he said to wait a moment, and he came back from the kitchen with a quart of freshly made! We instantly liked him (Gabriel) as its obvious he really cares about good food. He's from Puebla, Mexico which is known for its culinary traditions. We love going for breakfast, when we always order Chilaquiles (tortilla casserole), one red and one green and sometimes Champurrado (hot chocolate and rice beverage) for a sweet treat. His homemade Chile de Arbol hot sauce is awesome! For lunchtime, I recommend the tortas (Mexican sandwiches). Or the Huaraches, delicious chewy, thick sandal-shaped homemade tortillas topped with pork, beef or chicken. Oh, and the Liquados (milkshakes) made with canteloupe or strawberry are a delicious treat on a hot day. This is truly a family restaurant and they take good care of you. read more

As a native Angeleno visiting the Catskills Mountains, I was initially pretty nervous about the idea of eating Mexican food in Liberty, NY. But this place is just as good if not better than most Mexican restaurants I've been to in Southern California. The carnitas burrito was amazing with the cantinas being juicy, tender, and oh so flavorful. My girlfriend had the Mexican style eggs and she loved it. Best food in Liberty hands down. read more

We stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon when the majority of local places were closed. The food was good. I had a vegetarian burrito and Claude had tacos. We also got the salsa and chips. Spent the afternoon here watching the euro cup soccer game - France vs Iceland. The service was accommodating and good. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating is that the salad which came with my burrito was brown on the edges. It was obviously cut up from a few days before and was not super fresh. This is the best Mexican food I have ever had outside of someone's home. Everything is fresh and made to order but doesn't take too long to get to the table. The portions are huge as are the flavors. I have tried many of the menu items and they are all good. The decor leaves something to be desired but I go there fort the food not the ambience. read more
