Margarita

We really enjoyed this restaurant for lunch today. We wanted to see the jazz and blues festival that was happening on the plaza and did a little yelp search for reviews and once again my Yelper friends delivered. The pork Street tacos were absolutely fantastic and hubby had the flautas which was such a unique flavor and chock-full of chicken. We also really liked the street corn. The margaritas are made with some type of guava syrup and they were fantastic, don't skip out on these. What a great spot to enjoy the live jazz and blues music that was happening. Service was fantastic and we would definitely return to this location if we were locals. Total bill for each entrée +2 beers and two margaritas was $54 before tip.

We arrived and were seated right away. This small restaurant is off the plaza in this quaint pecan tree lined town. We were happy with all the food! Salsa and chips were great! 3 different salsas to choose from, spicy to ones liking. The deconstructed queso fundido was yummy with flavorful chorizo, blue corn tortillas, bubbly cheese, and roasted jalapeno you can reconstruct to your desire. We enjoyed our blue corn pecan chicken flautas and carne asada street tacos very much! The pistachio honey ice cream sopapilla was the top to a satisfying meal. Great place! Something different, and above all, tasty!

Food: was very good, not huge portion but very well seasoned and unique. Service: Great service and the waitress used her head and definitely knew what she was doing. Ambiance: Cozy little place, could use some paint and updating but overall not bad. Definitely would take friends here, a hidden gem right in Mesilla.

First time going to don Felix and will not be returning . Service is very slow and the portions for the price is not worth it . Was not asked if I wanted a refill on my sodas. We ordered an appetizer and it took quite a bit of time to get to the table . It's was just the fundido board which was just warmed up cheese . The place wasn't busy at all . I then ordered the queso burger and it was raw . We let the girl know that the burger was raw and the waitress didn't really offer to do anything to fix it . Not worth spending my money here and I recommend you don't either .

Their Shrimp dishes are great. Every time I come here, I'm always ordering a shrimp dish. No disappointment there. Went here for both lunch and dinner. The shrimp tacos were to die for. It was really filling. And the band was great. Emilio ordered the smothered the burrito, I had a bite and I was not too fond of it. It was the cheese that didn't do it for me. That was probably the only thing that wasn't great. Shrimp Ceviche, I had that as a meal with their homemade chips and they weren't stingy with the shrimp either. Love love love their drinks! Their margaritas are a wine based, they aren't too strong but very enjoyable and refreshing. Oh yeah the Jalapeño Puffs are always a hit! Order that before your meal. Super delish.

Terrific casual environment with authentic Mexican food - fresh and delicious!!! ... We loved it!!! How do you go wrong with $3 margaritas, wonderful salsa and (homemade) tortilla chips? Tostada's and Green Chile Chicken Pazole were both "spot on!!" Service from Nani was friendly and terrific. We visited on January 2nd 2019, when a small snow squall arrived on the scene. What fun for staff and guests.

Took a road trip to Mesilla, NM and dropped by this restaurant and very impressed! They were running out of food (which is maybe a good thing!). Ordered the carnita nachos and the mahi-mahi tacos and both were awesome! Highly recommend and will definitely come back. Cuddos to our awesome waitress, Lexie! Great service!!

Writing my review as I sit here...because I may just sit here forever! What a beautiful little gem in Old Mesilla. The patio is lovely, the live music is perfect. The food is exceptional! It's Easter Sunday so it's pretty busy but the staff is awesome and the service in general is waaaay above average. Tried the street tacos and they were delicious. So fresh! The albondega is also terrific. Don't miss this place when you're in town...it is 100% worth it!

Updating my review of this amazing spot for moles just to add some more photos and details. Many…read moremoles later, this place is still my very favorite place for moles. They are simply magic here both in terms of flavor complexity and texture. Their texture here is truly the best. I literally was licking the plate at the end of each of these. I tried all four of their moles as plates and also as a sampler on four different occasions and all are very complex, rich, creamy and satisfying. -Mole Poblano. "A not so sweet ajillo pepper mole sauce with traditional ingredients and a touch of Oaxaca chocolate." This was the first we tried here and what brought us back for more. -Mancha Manteles mole: This mole is described on their menu as: "Sweet pineapple, red apples, fried plantain and a wonderful choice of spices make this mole a great and unique experience". This mole like their other ones came out piping hot, creamy, thick, complex and delicious. -Mole Negro: Chichilo pepper and tomatillo mole sauce with a smoky taste and a hint of ash. -Mole Verde o Pipian. Toasted pumpkin seeds and tomatillo mole sauce with a hint of hoja santa (root beer plant) My husband and I get their enmoladas stuffed with vegetables and get double serving of the black beans (rice has chicken stock so we avoid it to keep the meal vegan/ vegetarian). The plates are always piping hot and soooo yummy. When they have all four moles available they offer a sampler as well. We did this on our last visit and it was fun to revisit the 4 moles we had their side by side and compare them. I really love the ambiance out on the peaceful patio and there's cover form the sun. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! My husband, dog and me went to Paisano Cafe for the first time. We sat in the patio area which is…read moredog friendly. The patio is very peaceful, but could use some fans or misters. It also has beautiful views of the Organ mountains. The service was great. Friendly waiter. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with tequila-lime sauce. Everything tasted fresh. The sauce was creamy, but had no flavor of lime or tequila. It also lacked salt. My husband ordered the vegan poblano pepper. The pepper was not well steamed. It was stuffed with vegetables, but it needed a side of rice. It didn't come with anything. We also got the mole sampler which came witha few tortilla chips. The tomatillo pepian was a little spicy. All lacked a little flavor and salt. I ordered a chicken breast for my dog. It was a little rubbery and dryish when I cut it. But my doggy ate it anyway.
