Lunch special on Friday - Fish Soup, and it comes with rice french fries and a piece of fried fish.

Food is always good here. Friday for lunch they have special. Fish soup comes with a plate of fried fish french fries, rice and a salad - you have to too it off with sangria.

I called the restaurant to complain and the lady was super rude. I try to explain to her that it was burn an she's like it's weird blah blah. I told her I could even send you a picture so you could see I'm not lying. She's was just bring it and I change it for you so I told her you can't exchange food but the least you could do is give me a credit for at least 1 whole chicken since I bought two. She's said OKAY! WHATS YOUR NAME and WHEN ARE YOU COMING? And she hung up. Never going back again and sorry to all the customers wanting to try our delicious food from my country with horrible service.

I'm not sure why all the bad reviews, I thought this place was fantastic. This was not our first option to grab food when in the area, but one thing led to another and we feasted at Don Alex. Best alternative decision ever! The restaurant was spacious and clean. The service was not the best, but that is my absolute only complaint about this place. I ordered the1/4 rotisserie chicken, which came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ask for a side of that green Aji sauce because that stuff literally tastes good with everything. My group also ordered a plate of loaded fries to share. The fries were glorious, it came loaded with hotdog pieces, drizzled in mayo, ketchup and cheese. Again, I preferred to dip my fries in the green Aji sauce. The fries were good for the first few bites, but then it got a little too overwhelming with all the sauces. I love this place and will definitely return. I highly recommend the rotisserie chicken-- one of the most well cooked Peruvian chicken I've ever had.

Second time I have been coming to this restaurant since quarantine started for my all-time favorite Jalea & Leche de Tigre. The service was fast and attentive, but the food was delicious! I understand that with everything going on, seafood dishes have not been the freshest in Other restaurant, but Here they are delicious and fresh! I have nothing to complain about their seafood. As long as they keep them fresh I will be coming back again for more! I also appreciate their outdoor seating, it is very pleasing for a late afternoon as the sun goes down and all you want to do is relax with a glass of wine.

My best friend was in the mood for Peruvian food and offered to treat......say no more, I'm in! He knew this place in Queens and I thought "I'm hungry why not local?" But who am I to complain when he's buying. I sat in his car while he drove to "Pollos A La Brasa" or Don Alex. He was able to find curbside parking close. We made are way to the angled building. It was different but looked nice enough. Heading inside I loved the look of the place. Valentine's Day is approaching so they went with a red tone and hearts. It seems like a nice place to take a fine young lady (wink, wink). So we marched in and were quickly seated. We had two beautiful woman serving us or so we thought. The service was terrible and they pretty much didn't show up enough, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We placed our orders and waited for something to drink. We waited and waited. At least we had the fried corn to keep us company. Finally we got our drinks and it was time for a little Peruvian dining. When the tostones came out I thought they were delicious. Similar to the way Puerto Rican's make them. I am a fan so I may have eaten 80 precent of them.......90 precent (Its okay! He didn't like them). When my chicken arrived I can tell you I ate 100 precent of that! It was tender and hot. The meat had some flavor to it and it was good. There was a sauce my friend kept using and he made me try. It was spicy but good enough to dip my chicken in. We asked for more and they brought it over. But they didn't mention they charged $4.50 for extra. (Come on). It's a coin toss if I would return on my own. If my friend invited me again I would say yes. But the service has to improve. Who knows, I could bring that special someone there and we might be hungry. They have time because I'm still working on the bringing someone part.

    A La brasa for sure

It took me a year but I have found a true replacement for Pio. Don Alex doesn't look like your standard Peruvian place for pollos a la brasa. It's set up like a neighborhood spot, the music isn't blaring (and I have yet to hear any annoying birthday music!), there are no roasting-rotating chickens facing the sidewalk, and the food is actually cooked to order! The service is good although it seems to be designed for the Spanish speaking clientele... but it wouldn't be an issue for anyone who's ordered from Pio. The menu is larger than many Peruvian spots (and may have a bit more of a Colombian influence) but the quality is great. The jalea is crisp and light with just the right amount of sauce and the chicken here is tender, very flavorful, and truly falling off the bone (isn't that what's "pollo a la brasa" really means?) and the green sauce is not over bearing. I will be back... and in greater numbers.

My wife and I came here almost by accident. We never had Peruvian food so we figured we would try it. We were not disappointed. We both had the fish but prepared completely differently. I had the fried fish and it was was delicious. It was served over a sweet onion salad and the best fries I've had in a long time. My wife had the steamed fish in a wonderful sauce with onions and kasava root. She loved it. The appetizer can be eaten as a meal by itself. It was a cold mixed seafood salad served with an onion salad, sweet potato and giant corn kernels on the cob. If you love lime juice, this is your place. It was refreshing and a welcome change from the same old thing.

Whole chicken, beans, yellow rice, salad and French fries -$22

Just a-ok. Their chicken is pretty tender and the price is pretty reasonable for the neighborhood. I enjoyed their chicken the most. Their rice and beans were below par. Some of the rice was hard. Also, their chicken soup is VERY authentic. It's not the measly chicken in a soup can. I would recommend it if you are in the neighborhood and want some chicken. However, be warned that their service is VERY slow.

The friendly employee checked if I ordered from the kiosk, and I did. After 5 minutes or so, my order was ready and I took it to go. The stir-fried beef was really salty (think it's the marination) even when you eat the beef with the white rice or fries to try to dilute how much sauce there is. The tomato and onions were great. Tons of fries (that I can't finish it) and a small container of white rice. Have to come back and try the cerviche and fried rice next time.

Dishes we've had include: - Half Chicken: $9.50; $10.34 with tax. The chicken and accompanying green sauce are above average; 4 stars out of 5. The chicken is flavorfully marinated and moist, and the green sauce has a little heat to it. - The Sampler: $16.99; $18.59 with tax. The most flavorful component of this dish was the chicken. The rice was on the mushy side. The ceviche was OK but the proteins didn't quite have the right textures. - Aeropuerto Special: $15.25; $16.60 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. A mixture of thin lo mein noodles and rice with some roast pork, chicken, and shrimp. The dish seemed to have a decent wok hei, which was confusing because the chicken rice from the Sampler was on the mushy side. This dish would be much better with more proteins, and the wok hei suggests that the restaurant has untapped potential. - Papa Rellena: $8.95; $9.74 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. Stuffed deep fried potatoes that seemed factory-made, instead of house-made. Atmosphere, Service, Other: The restaurant is casual, clean, and comfortable for dining in, with a mix of regular tables and booth-style seating. Those who choose to dine-in should order food at the counter, receive a number placard, and find a place to sit. Staff will bring plates, utensils, and later, one's food and drink; and will clear the table when your party is finished eating. Service is notably upbeat. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at an affordable 12%. Overall ticket time (the time between placing an order and having that order served) is reasonable. By contrast, Bayside Chicken Lovers often requires that orders be placed in advance to minimize wait time. The restroom is adequately maintained, but oddly pipes in music louder than in the main dining area. Simple Peruvian is a couple of storefronts away from Kora, which is a superb place for dessert afterwards.

My wife and I ordered the Lomo Saltado (Carne) and the Pescado Frito (or fried fish chunks). Let me tell - the Lomo Saltado was some of the most flavorful Lomo Saltado I've had in a while. Juicy, well marinated skirt steak accompanied by grilled red onion and tomatoes, on top of a bed of French fries and white rice. They had pickled onions on the side of this dish to really complement the savoriness of the dish with a nice touch of pungent acidity. Well balanced meal. The Pescado Frito came with an abundance of lemons which is a plus if you like to add that to your deep fried fish - as well as some Yucca and your traditional Peruvian sauces (white sauce and red sauce/hot sauce). Both sauces were flavorful and house made. I highly recommend this place, it was clean, service was quick and very hospitable. Our server made sure that we had ample napkins for our meal. Living in Queens for…read morethe past four weeks, I was really craving menudo, but since this area doesn't have many Mexicans (more Latin America), I realized that it wasn't possible to find menudo. Well, I got lucky here. I wanted to try Peruvian food and noticed on their menu that they serve cau cau. It's a Peruvian tripe soup with potatoes instead of the hominy that's in menudo. The cau cau was delicious. The tripe was tender with just a slight chew. And it had none of the gaminess of tripe. The potatoes were tender and really gave depth and body to the soup. It's definitely a lot lighter than menudo and there's not much acidity to cau cau, but I loved it anyway. They brought over two hot sauces. Both were delicious, but I preferred the spicier red one. I wasn't sure what to do with them since I had just ordered soup, so I started by trying to mix some of the red hot sauce into the soup. It didn't make much difference to the soup. So instead, I would pick up a spoonful of tripe and potato and then spoon on a dollop of the sauce on top. I'm sure people were looking at me like I was crazy ("this guy is putting hot sauce on each bite of soup..."), but it was worth it. It was pure deliciousness. I also got a cup of passionfruit juice. It's definitely just poured out of a container, but it was perfectly chilled and tasted great. The sweetness and acidity went really well with the hearty tripe soup. I'm so used to be offered orange juice, apple juice, or cranberry juice that just the taste of a different kind of juice made it extra special. If I lived in this area, I'd get this cau cau every weekend.
