    Pizza

Employee did not wear her mask during my entire stay outside the store watching them make pizzas, and attached is the result of my order. 2?of 8 pieces of pizza had no toppings

Thin crust chicken bacon ranch and hand tossed cheeseburger.

We picked up chicken bacon ranch thin crust and cheeseburger hand tossed. We really liked the chicken bacon ranch and thought the cheeseburger was fair. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. We will probably order again.

Medium hand tossed sausage, onion and green pepper pizza.

Well, I call it meat frisbees because I'm all about class. The pizza was a rotund sphere of hot cheese, like the ones fabled to have originated in ancient Atlantis. The cheese was hot and elastic, like silly putty after it's been in your pocket for many days. I call it dairy pudding, and it stuck to the tasty meat disks as if they were conjoined twins. Under that was a hot red sauce lake, made from tomatoes and sorcery, probably. The meat spheres were spicy little meat frisbees, but smaller and edible and they tasted like paradise. Some of them curled up at the sides like they were trying to become tiny meat bowls. I ate them before they could finish. No meat bowls in my hood. The crust was the part you hold, also known as the pizza bone, and it was crunchy on the edge like a toasted bread fence, and chewy in the middle like a bagel that was also an old man telling you to get out of his yard. I dipped it in ranch dressing because my tarot card reader says that's what my Venusian ancestors once did. Every bite was like a dance party in my face hosted by the mayor of Cheese Town. Oh, and even though Freddy's didn't have a giant pizza slingshot to launch the pizza into my open mouth, it was still pretty comfy in there. Real nice folks too. Not one of them made fun of my reverse-Mohawk or challenged me a belly-buster contest. Yes! I can finally be comfortable while eating my pizza bone leftovers! A+++

There are outdoor seats as well and they were partially covered by trees, which was important because there was a summer thunderstorm when I visited. In theory, they have an online ordering platform, but what they said to others when I got there was that they shut down online ordering when in-person business gets busy, and it's not a huge operation so this probably happens on the regular. All of this is fine by me, but important to know. They offer a menu of house specials with vaguely Dungeons and Dragons themed names. The Vampire Slayer that I ended up with (named for its ample roasted garlic) surprised me, in the sense that I didn't read the menu closely enough to realize that this was a vegan pizza, so basically a tomato pie without cheese. This actually worked out reasonably well for me even though it wasn't what I intended. The tomato and garlic flavors were vigorous, the crust browned nicely, and I had other things to fill me up. Outside of pizza, they had beverages and one or two appetizers and desserts that are subject to availability. The question to me is whether the quality was worth stopping here for as compared to the bigger food selection in urban areas across the bridge, to which the answer for me was yes.

Great crunch and interesting combinations. I decided to go with the Gandalf when the sage, ricotta, and garlic caught my attention and had me wonder how that'd play together. The sage was a little off-putting but once I added some crushed red pepper, everything came together. Even if there was some caramelized onions and mushrooms along with it elevated it as well. Can you really have too many toppings on a pizza? NOOOO course not. Definitely a spot that locals frequent but they welcomed us with open arms. It was good chatting with some of the employees and the owner's dad who came in to grab his pizza as well.

We arrived early evening still hot/sunny outside. We were asked upon entering if we had a reservation? We replied no didn't know you took reservations. We were then seated. The vibe inside looking around felt classy, cool & comfortable. The menu is quite extensive offering appetizers, entree salads, pastas, risottos & pizza. Our server explains w/confident enthusiasm pizza dough & pastas made fresh daily. We ordered roasted brussels sprouts w/bacon. Smoky crispy brussels sprouts, tender savory bacon. My friend ordered the Napoli Margarita Pizza-fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese & basil (top) in photo. I ordered Sausage Pizza-Roman-sausage, marinated red peppers mozzarella, and asiago cheese. Roman-is square shaped crust-think focaccia bread. Tender buttery flavor w/crispy edge, rich tasty sausage & tangy red peppers & creamy cheese. Delicious meal fresh ingredients. I ordered the Abe Berry Spritzer (elderberry aperol, prosecco) light refreshing fruity flavor. Complemented the richly flavored pizza. We both enjoyed our meal. Our attentive provided great customer service. As we left, looking around-the not so large restaurant had filled up w/people enjoying themselves. Yes worth another visit. See photos.

That first bite -- that unforgettable sauce, that perfect crust -- hooked me for life. Over the past fifty years in Fairfax, I've followed Ledo's wherever a new one opened. When the Reston location arrived, I was over the moon. I was one of their first customers, and it felt like welcoming an old friend into the neighborhood. So when I found a Ledo's in Prince Frederick, MD, perched up on a hill off Route 4, I felt that same spark of excitement. I was visiting relatives, we wanted pizza, and suddenly -- there it was. I couldn't believe my luck. I ordered two pizzas: a large cheese for myself, and another with green peppers and pineapple for everyone else. (Yes, pineapple and green peppers really do work together.) But the joy didn't last. It started with something small -- paying. I used a credit card and was told to hit one of the white buttons. Next thing I knew, the screen was asking for a tip for carryout. A tip... for carryout. It felt wrong. I'm a generous tipper when someone serves me -- 25% is normal for me -- but this felt like being pressured into something that didn't make sense. I backed out of the transaction, already feeling a little deflated. Still, I couldn't wait to get back to my relatives' house. The pizzas looked beautiful -- loaded with toppings, cooked perfectly. My mouth was watering. This was supposed to be one of those comforting, nostalgic Ledo's moments. And then it wasn't. The crust was spot‑on, but the sauce -- the heart and soul of Ledo's -- was completely wrong. It didn't taste like the Ledo's I've known for decades. Not even close. It tasted like plain puréed tomatoes, flat and empty, missing that signature flavor that has defined Ledo's for nearly 70 years. I tried to push through it, but after two slices I felt sick to my stomach. It was heartbreaking. How does a franchise lose the very thing that makes it special? I won't be going back to the Prince Frederick location. I'll stick with Reston, where the pizza still tastes like the Ledo's I fell in love with all those years ago. And for anyone who's only ever been to the Prince Frederick Ledo's -- please, try another location. You deserve to experience the real taste of an American classic.
