I'm amazed at some of these bad reviews and how dumb they are. I'm half Dominican and grew up in…read moreNew York. I married a 100% Dominican woman from the island that lived in Washington Heights after she left DR. This place has great food. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some left a bad review because they said they ordered a quesadilla and fries that were OK. If you come to a Dominican restaurant and order a quesadilla and fries I'm sorry you are an idiot and know nothing about the culture or what to eat. So the ambiance. Is it a 5 star restaurant? No. Stop complaining about what they have to wipe your hands in the bathroom. If you are looking for a fine dining experience then go to Midtown. It's small, the music is LOUD at night and it gets crowded. If you don't like that vibe then go somewhere else. I've been to eat during the day when it's pretty empty and at night when it's packed. Service has always been good with longer waits if you go when there is a concert or an event at night. The food....very good. The only Dominican food I've had that is better has been food my wife cooked, my mother in law cooked or food in the Heights in New York. Definitely the most authentic Dominican spot here in Atlanta. The picadera is SO GOOD. Their beans taste just as good as what I get at home. My wife loves the Mondongo which is hard to make. Rabo is good so are the bistecs, the chuletas and the chicken I've eaten. I haven't tried the Mangu but my wife says it's good and she makes it AMAZING. I've said this before on reviews and will say it again. You have people expecting to get food like DR. Sorry people but we aren't in DR. We aren't in Washington Heights. I'd love to have it that good here but it's not going to happen. It's still doesn't make it bad. The food here is consistently good and I go often with my wife. Get the Picadera Dominicana. Best thing there.

We've wanted to go to this place for some time and finally made it. A sizeable menu of good food…read moreoptions. We kept it simple though since we were going to an event. For an appetizer the Fried Cheese with French Fries. For some reason this surprised me because I was expecting something like Mozzarella Sticks but these were cubes of cheese instead and my wife did a quick Google check and found out that this was a specific type of cheese fried but not breaded. Ummm...for someone who likes fried foods, very delicious. I was not happy when this was done. For the entrée I had a Chicharron de Pollo with Tostones. The chicken was good, the Tostones plentiful. I usually get three or four at a restaurant. There was a lot more than that and I couldn't finish them all. Of course the Mofongo was ordered because why come to a place like this and not order it. Good choice since their menu had a whole bunch of Mofongo options. Oh and my wife really enjoyed the Café con Leche.

There were quite a few things on the menu they were "out of" even though it was 5 PM just a few hours after they opened. I elected to get something new, which was just a grilled chicken breast with rice and beans and salad and the chicken that was served to me was raw when I pointed it out, they brought it back to the kitchen, threw it back on the stove, which is certainly cross-contamination and tried to serve it to me. I asked for a box and immediately threw it in the trash then they charged me for that raw chicken they served. I would suggest going on weekends as it seems to be a different experience.

Their plátanos maduros were plentiful and deliciously ripe as well. The red beans were flavorful and lacked any trace of canned beans. I also tried the empanadas. They come with mayo ketchup as a dipping sauce. The dough was tasty but the ground beef could use a little more seasoning/flavor. Service was friendly, although very slow, which I am willing to overlook because the food came out fresh and hot. The restaurant is humble and appearance but clean and inviting. This is my go to spot for good Dominican food from now on. God knows it's hard to find good Cuban food in Georgia, so this will be a good alternative.

Stop debating going to this restaurant--just go!…read more First of all, the lady behind the counter was an absolute gem. She was so sweet, helpful, and even offered small samples to make sure we'd enjoy what we ordered. I love when places do this--it shows they truly care about their customers finding something they'll love. That said, it's almost unnecessary here, because everything is delicious. The restaurant itself is very clean. There isn't a big theme or décor, but honestly, the food speaks louder than anything else. You get two sides and one meat choice. Here's what we tried: Sides: * Rice & beans - Excellent. * Fried rice - Also excellent. * Mac & cheese - Simple but satisfying. * Plantains - AMAZING. Truly the best we've ever had. * Collard greens - Delicious, and honestly the best we've ever eaten. Meats: * Island Chicken - A must-have! It's a little spicy, bursting with flavor, and absolutely unforgettable. I wish I could eat this every day. * Stuffed Chicken - Fantastic, and highly recommended by the lady behind the counter. She was right--it's worth trying. Pro tip: Ask for extra Island Chicken gravy. It's so flavorful I could honestly drink it. This is hands down the best Caribbean food I've ever had, made even better by the kind people who run it. It's fast, easy, and absolutely worth a stop if you're nearby. Please come support this local gem, you won't regret it. I will fall asleep tonight dreaming of this food.

Lastly, the plantains were burned and not fresh. I will say the customer service was decent but I wouldn't recommend this place if you want real Caribbean cuisine.
