I contacted Jan and she met with me, got a sense of what I liked, and then helped me choose new furniture and decor. She also helped me choose a paint color for an accent wall. She sent me various options for the bigger, harder to return stuff, and had me choose and order those myself. She picked out the smaller stuff herself and we did an install day where I was out of the house for the day and she brought in and perfectly arranged and decorated the place! Coming home to my perfectly decorated new place was like being on an HGTV show! I can be very picky, so part of me expected not to like some of the choices, but NOPE. Everything was PERFECT. I loved it all! She truly captured my style and turned my house into a home! Couldn't recommend more! Bonus: One of the end tables she brought was HANDMADE by her husband! What!!! It's a beautiful oak live edge table that is absolutely gorgeous!

It was empty so she brought everything. I was somewhat nervous because it had smallish rooms and I was afraid it would look too stuffed, plus I am quite particular and an amateur decorator myself. My fears were for naught, we had multiple offers in 1 day, and it looked lovely. I know the staging helped in this regard. She did what she promised for a competitive price and was easy to work with, what more can you ask?

A few weeks ago I reached out to Handyman connection about a ceiling fan install in my son's room…read more I was told by Frank the office manager, that the normal price is $150, but if there is anything complicated the price would be more. My husband took off work that morning so he could be home for the install. Ethan showed up, was prompt, installed the fan and we were invoiced $150. We were so pleased with the job we reached out to Frank 2 days later to have the exact same ceiling fan installed in my other son's room. We asked for the same handyman but were told Ethan was leaving the company. We set up a date and time for the install. This is where things go WAY DOWN HILL. For the second visit, my husband took off work for the morning as well. Joe arrived, walked into my son's room, spent no more than 30 seconds inside, then went to his truck to "work up an estimate". He came back to the front door, told us the exact same install, with the same wiring and fan was $280. My husband questioned it, and explained the exact same fan was installed for $150 two weeks prior. He reluctantly stated he would honor the price, then told us the work could not be done today, as he had another project outside to finish and he was worried it might rain. My husband told Joe that he thought the work was planned for today. Joe said no and promptly left. We then followed up with Frank (the manager) hoping he would rectify the situation. Unfortunately he was of no help at all. He didn't offer an apology for wasting our time, nor did he offer to match the original pricing, stating "we must have gotten a deal" on the first install. We feel like this business is poorly run, does not prioritize customer service and uses "bait and switch" pricing tactics. Needless to say we will find another service with honest practices to install our second fan. I hope this review helps others avoid this shady company.

I came here for my sister's birthday because we wanted to do something a little more interactive…read morethan just going out to dinner. Funny enough, even though it's called Upstairs Circus, I kept calling it "Uptown Circus" for some reason and still do. My sister had been here once when she first moved to Austin, but it had been a while, so she was happy to go again. We tried to make a reservation for a Monday but found out they're closed that day unless it's a private event. So we ended up booking a Sunday evening during their Sangria Sundays event. Signing up online was quick and easy--no payment required upfront. When we arrived, we were seated at a table and given the option to sit side by side or across from each other. They handed us a laminated flyer with all the available project options, ranging from easy (about an hour) to more challenging projects that can take the full three-hour session. There was a good mix of household items (like coasters and magnetic shelves), jewelry, handbags, clutches, accessories, and even a pricier custom Nike shoe painting project. The sample projects looked very professional, but the final result really depends on your artistic skills and how focused you are during the session. My sister and I decided to pick different projects--she chose a handbag clutch, and I went with coasters. We got all our materials and instructions. One thing I noticed: this kind of activity is probably better suited for people who don't have a ton to catch up on while working. Since my sister and I hadn't seen each other for weeks, we were trying to talk and catch up, which made it harder for me to focus on the project. Some steps were time-sensitive, so juggling both conversation and crafting was a bit stressful. For my coaster project, I initially planned to use a stencil and transfer paper to trace a design, but it didn't work very well. I ended up switching to a simple two-color block design just to make sure I could finish in time. My sister's project was a bit more advanced--she had to do leather hole punching and threading--but she managed to finish and loved how her clutch turned out. Since it was Sangria Sunday, you get one complimentary sangria or mocktail with your reservation, and they keep a card on file if you want to order more drinks. I got a spicy cocktail that actually had really good flavor, even though I didn't finish it. Overall, this is a fun and unique activity if you want to do something creative with a friend or group. I'd recommend it more if you're looking to spend quality time doing something together rather than having a deep conversation--because focusing on the project definitely takes some attention. My sister was happy with her finished product, and I liked mine even if it turned out simpler than planned. It's a cool idea for a birthday, date night, or just a different kind of outing.
