Pros: cleaning service does a great job INSIDE the apartment, proximity to Wrigley/Boystown, kitchen is a decent setup for a short stay (minus the loose handles). Cons: You will not sleep here. You will not get any rest. Every post about the train not being inconvenient is a flat out lie. It is loud, it is frequent, and the entire apartment shakes with each passing. The listing says there are 2+ bathrooms and then has them listed as 2 full, 2 half - there are just the two full baths. There is zero communication from the host, William. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! For MONTHS I inquired about an early check-in and only received "we'll check closer to the check-in date" which, yes, great. That was in February and after consistent following up in August, not a word about it. However, looking at the receipt in detail you receive after completing the very confusing check-in form, the owner has charged us for every add-on they offer, including a $150 Mid-Stay Cleaning (we're only here for four days) and a $90 Late Checkout (we're leaving at 10am on checkout day). The host finally replied and said "we're sorry you selected these services." When you click to reserve the vrbo none of the services are listed as options so how did I select these? And even if I *did* select these services, the mid-stay cleaning never happened. This entire apartment is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with people flipping houses. The owner clearly slapped cheap lipstick on a pig with every finish cheaper than the last. The floors in the bedrooms move. The beds are awful. There are exposed wires sticking out of the bathroom mirror. The common areas leading to the apartment are disgustingly dirty. The host is extremely petty. The review he left on me personally makes no sense - how do I get a 1 star for communication when he never answered any messages until the day we left? Cleanliness 3 stars? I sent a message saying that we're checking out and the dishwasher has been run - 10 minutes later I got a review? If I could give 0 stars, I would. William Gibbs still owes me $2,000 from my security deposit, which I've repeatedly asked to have returned. It has now been more than 60 days since I vacated the rental, even though the contract clearly states deposits must be returned within 45 days at the latest. Despite calling daily, the only "response" I get is from what appears to be an AI answering system on his cell phone pretending to be him. The only communication I've received was a random $10 Zelle payment from someone named "Stewart Gibbs," who I cannot confirm is him or not. This entire process has been unprofessional, misleading, and deeply concerning. I have never experienced anything like this before and strongly urge anyone considering renting from him to look elsewhere. I am currently pursuing a small claims case to recover the money owed. Like Danny, if I could give 0 stars I would. William Gibbs owes me and my roommate $3,200 from my security deposit. I have repeatedly contacted William and Domain Homesharing Management to no avail. It has now been more than 45 days since I moved out of the rental property, even though our lease and Illinois/Chicago law clearly states security deposits must be returned within 45 days of move out. I have received no itemized statement either. Domain Homesharing Management now shows permanently closed on Google and Better Business Bureau. William is also running Dream Casa and I have also attempted to reach him at this company. Do not rent from Domain Homesharing or William Gibbs if you want your security deposit returned. Decent tenant-facing experience, but room for improvement on the landlord side. This property management company has done a solid job managing tenant relations--things generally run smoothly from the user side, and we haven't encountered issues from that end. The system appears well-organized and efficient for tenants. However, as a landlord, there have been some ongoing concerns. Payment delays, occasional system and accounting errors, and a lack of clear communication have made the experience frustrating at times. Additionally, we've noticed discrepancies between what tenants are charged and what is reported to us, which has created confusion. Property maintenance also seems to be a lower priority, and we would like to see more proactive care in that area. This company is predatory in nature and SPIES on their guests. I recently stay at a domain property and had a terrible experience. I arrived at their property and the heater did not work (it was -10 degrees in Chicago) and was subsequently accused of breaking the heater even though it did not work from the moment I arrived. Later in the trip, the electronic gate blocking the entrance stopped working. Once again, I was accused I breaking the gate, even though it faces a main road that was covered in salt and snow. Later in the trip, I sat down on the bed to put my socks on and the cheap IKEA bed crumbled beneath me. Again, I was accused of breaking the the bed even though it was cheap and broke from me sitting down. But these predatory accusations are not even the worst part. One morning my girlfriend and I were complaining to each other that nothing in the house worked and that it was a total dump. During this conversation, my girlfriend noted that an outlet in the kitchen was broken and was not outputting electricity. We never disclosed this to the owner because we were tired of dealing with him and tired of his awful accusatory tone. The next day I get a message from the owner telling me he fixed the outlet we complained about... CREEPY. We felt so violated and scared. My girlfriend wanted to pack up and leave but I convinced her to stay. These people put listening devices in their houses and completely violate your privacy in order to further their predatory intentions. Disgustingly creepy. They knew expensive items were broken and were waiting for someone to stay and shakedown for the costs to replace them. If you're smart, you'll stay away from these awful people. read more
