UPDATE: Just in case you are still considering using Dolphin Carpet and Tile because of the alleged "inaccuracies" that I described in my original review regarding customer service...the flooring, which was completed about 3 months ago, is already chipped (in a low traffic area).

I did get an apology from the nice friendly sales person who greeted me on March 6th
Sonny D.

This has been the ABSOLUTE WORST company we have ever dealt with! I would NOT recommend this company to do your project. PLEASE, do yourself a favor and shop around with other tile companies and you will save yourself a lot of heartache. It's my opinion that Jeff Katz and the commercials he's running are not true based on our experience. Please read on and see photos included and then you'll agree with my opinion. March 6th, 2021 I walked into the Biscayne store and met a nice sales person, picked out my tile and gave all the information requested. He told me on Monday, March 8th his measuring guy will come out to measure the job. Monday, no show so I called back. He will be there Wednesday, again no show and I called back. When I called back on Wednesday 3/10 the sales guy asked ME to call the measuring guy and so I did and left a lengthy voicemail. Friday rolls around and still no measuring guy. On Saturday the friendly nice sales guy came out to measure. The next week I was asked to Zelle $600.00 for the permit fee at the city of Miami Beach. Oh yea let's not forget to mention that Dolphin Tile uses a "permit expeditor". If you don't know what a permit expeditor is just google it and believe me she did a poor job. As a matter of fact she uploaded the wrong documents as well as incomplete documents several times. I made contact with the city's building department in person, by phone and emails. What the hell did she do for $600.00 but cause delays by NOT following up for weeks as our permit sat waiting for the correct information to be uploaded. After the permit fee was sent I was again asked to Zelle $1,750.00 which was 50% of my job and so I did just that. This was to reserve and hold my choice of tile. March, April and May came and gone and still my permit was sitting and I continued to make my phone calls to both Dolphin Tile and the city wanting updates. I NEVER once heard from the so called "permit expeditor" on the status of my $600.00 permit. Towards the last part of June I received word my permit was approved. Next, we deal with scheduling which is another horrible experience. I called the nice sales person every week asking when is my install date and his reply was "I haven't heard anything from our scheduling department". Now, by now we're into the first week of July and I'm fed up with Dolphin Tile and their expert team as Jeff says. Finally I get an install date of July 19, 2021. GREAT, well not so much because it gets better. Again, I texted and emailed the same nice sales person I've dealt with since day one explaining that I'm flying someone in from out of state to let the crew in so please make sure they have enough supplies to complete the job that week because the individual is flying home on the 26th. I work at a hospital and couldn't get the time off to let the crew in and out. July 19 rolls around and I get a phone call from the nice sales person I first met on day one saying my job has been pushed back one day. July 20th the crew arrives and removes the old tile, applies the waterproofing as code requires and the city inspector passes that part of the job on July 21. BTW, the waterproofing is red in color so do you notice the sloppy mess on the railing and exterior wall of our condo? Wednesday is when the new tile is to be installed (which I Zelled $1,750.00 back in March to hold with my name on it as the nice sales person who greeted me back on March 6th told me). Wednesday evening the nice sales person who originally greeted me back on March 6th calls me saying " this is the phone call I'm dreading" I replied what's the matter and he said "we can't find your tile. It was in the warehouse with your name on it". Yes by now I went into "are you F*@%&^G kidding me mode. Flight ticket money was spent, it's Wednesday and I have no tile. I asked him to send me photo's of like tile, which he did and another color was picked out. The nice guy tells me it's in stock but won't be installed until Friday. Yes, I said are "yfkm"? Did you not understand I flew someone in to be here this week and you dropped the ball? Friday rolls around and it's down pouring so again, it's a sh!t show no go. Sunday rolls around and I took the individual to the airport came home and looked at the awful red waterproofing mess for a week. I wanted to vent so I called the rude inconsiderate lady in scheduling asking her why she scheduled an outdoor job on a rain day? I told her part of her job is checking the weather forecast and schedule outdoor jobs accordingly. Her reply was " it's not my balcony install you watch the weather". People you can't make this sh!t up. My tile job did get installed the last of July and passed inspection by the the city August 4th, 5 MONTHS just to retile a condo balcony, UNBELIEVABLE! So I ask you, is this the crappy, sloppy service you want done at your home? Again, this is my opinion and experience with photos.

Many things come to mind when you think of beautiful hardwood floors: the form, the sheen, the…read moreluster, and even a bit of history. But what does not come to mind in the daunting task and small miracle that it takes to keep them so beautiful. Having recently moved into a 1925 Old Spanish, my wife and I felt it was time to strip that old and poorly applied shiny lacquer and bring new life to those floors. Here is where we had no idea what we were getting into. I had done many online searches and read about all floor refinishing, it seemed very straight forward. This was obviously not something I was going to attempt but I just wanted to be informed, I was off to get a quote! When Ramon and I met up, he was prompt, professional, and knew exactly what he was talking about. I asked many questions and found out that he, and his company, uses an extensive multi-step sanding process that really makes the difference, other than the products used of course. He came, he saw, he measured, he explained, he answered, and then he left. Armando sent me the quote the next day and even called me to follow up and if I had any questions, which I did, obviously. At the price point, I was taken aback but I already knew it was going to be expensive. In the end, it is a VERY specialized process. My wife and I continued working on more pressing renovations and decided we would give it some more time. We waited and waited. Ramon called me to let me know they were getting booked up very quickly, but I told him we were still on the fence. One day, I see a request for wood floor refinishing on NextDoor and two people quickly recommend RED. I got nervous. When we finally had a concrete move-in date, I spoke to Ramon and he penciled us in. I told him that we will be going with the satin oil-based poly instead of the water-based simply because of the price. He said, "no problem, I totally understand". Before they started, Armando and Ramon came by to drop off some replacement boards they needed to acclimate to our home's environment, yes, they even think of that as the pros that they are. Obviously, my wife and I asked even more questions. We made it very clear that we were against the yellow undertone from the previously applied lacquer. They quickly recommended the water-based polyurethane to get the wood color and matte look we were looking for. We said we would think about it. The day came and the crew quickly got to work. Ramon kept me in the loop for everything. He asked me to come by so I could see the progress myself. After a single day, the floors looked completely different, so smooth, so rich in natural wood color, that was not even half of the process. Ramon explained that the wood had been resurfaced many times before and had very little life left. He showed me many examples and explained why we could see the nails in some area, he even explained what that does with the finish, very glad he mentioned it. He assured me that we will get a lot of use out of them but next time, it will have to be a very light sand and recoat. They sanded, ripped out bad boards, laid new ones, sanded some more, and then, you guessed it, sanded even more. The process was extensive. The dust. The dust was everywhere. But not like you would expect. Ramon and the crew worked with the upmost thoughtfulness and picked up a ton. He did warn me there would be dust, but their machines picked up most of it. This is an inevitable consequence of the process, but it really is not that bad, it was easy to clean up. NOTHING like tile and drywall work. I called Ramon and said we wanted the water-based coat and he told me we would not regret it. He was right. During the coating process, Ramon and the team are VERY strict with people being in the house, the A/C off, and only necessary movement to prevent anything from sticking to the coating. When it was all done, the floor looked completely transformed. My wife and I could not believe it, it was beautiful and natural looking. What wood floors are supposed to look like. The photos do NOT do it justice. Ramon also supplied us with Bona commercial cleaner, applicator, and felt furniture pads, yes, that is a very fine touch. We followed all the recommendations: kept shoes off the floor for about 2 weeks, only dry cleaning with the applicator, no rugs for 30 days, and felt pads on EVERYTHING. Ramon seriously warns that the first 30 days are crucial in keeping the finish undisturbed as much as possible. In the end, it is probably the best dollar spent because it is something you see and use every single day. Not to mention that everyone loves the floors. We even had them take the Florida Pine handrail and refinish it so it could all be harmonious. IN SUMMARY: RED is phenomenal, they are professionals, take their work very seriously, know what they are talking about, guide you in what is best for you and your budget, and are worth every penny. They definitely under promise and over-deliver.

Armando did a great job! My floors look good and I was very happy with the service! The cousins…read morecame back after the job was finished and helped me move a few pieces so I could use my kitchen. The only inconvenience; they advised on their first day working I should "leave it to cure" for 3 weeks. That means limited movement of anything on the floors! But you payed to have it done you want it to look good!
