My friend got her lashes done here and I loved how natural they looked. It's been years since I got my eyelashes done. When I first reached out I loved how they responded promptly with booking the appointment. The gentleman at the front desk who said was the manager was very friendly and informative with the initial consultation describing the different types of lashes and styles. I had such a great experience in this studio. The staff members are very friendly and accommodating. The place is super cute. And most importantly, my lashes turned out amazing! I've been screwed over by other lash technicians in the past, so I was hesitant to even try a new place. But I do not regret coming here at all! I'm very aware that I'm not easy to please:) Being in the beauty industry for over 25 years as an aesthetician, makeup artist, & former day spa owner.. I have enough experience to know when someone is doing their "job" and who is doing their passion..from the attitude to the result it's pretty easy to tell. I tried four other lash artists..and they all fell within 2-3 weeks with tangled lashes which damaged my own lashes. Unfortunately, very short of what I felt was a beautiful quality outcome for the price I was paying..The initial lady I tried at another location..in Sacramento, charged $400 for.. $45 quality.. I didn't bargain hunt.. I actually did the opposite! Avoiding "cheaper" places. After four bad, expensive, aggravating experiences..The angels started to sing and I found Astor:) She's A. Very nice and so wonderful to be around. B. She gladly tweaked, what was already beautiful, how she did my lashes until after a few visits she nailed what I was vying for! She created my ideal, eye framing, soft, fluttery, perfect lashes which can last for 4-5 weeks for me!! C. Which is equally as important..Her place is sanitary, professional, beautiful, and well worth the 1.5 hours drive!! I have been getting my lashes done here religiously for two years now (November 2015). I know this review is a bit long overdue LOL anyway, I started with 2wks refills for maybe about 5mos then I've gone every 3wks since. Let me begin my saying I was an eyelash extension virgin before I found this lash salon through here. I lived in Palo Alto back then and even though there were lash salons near me, I didn't want to settle with a ratchet place just because of the price. If I wanted a foreign object adhered very near my eyes, I wouldn't mind paying more and drive the distance as long as quality is assured. I have never had any problems with this place but making an appointment with the tech I prefer (it's so freaking in demand). Service wise, you get superb quality lashes that you won't feel anything even you choose a volume set. I usually get their regular adhesive given that I don't have sensitive eyes but if you do, and/or a virgin, I recommend requesting their medical grade adhesive. Usually it can last for 3-4wks with proper lash care. Operations wise, their management team always always works with you. If something came up and you couldn't make it, no worries, they'll reschedule you with no fuss, no drama. However, please please notify them at least 24 hrs ahead. Also, I can't emphasize how much I love their place, parking is super convenient, very high class lash spa that I'm willing to spend my every penny in this place. I always got compliments on the street. Even my cousin is a lash tech in NYC, when she come and travel SF, she will go to Dolly Effect to get her lashes done. Much love with this place with excellent quality of work and wonderful customer service. I'm the type to not wear any makeup at all but occasionally. I would just apply simple mascara and lipstick, a serious plain Jane! But after trying this place and having just NATURAL lashes put on, it was absolutely AWESOme! It makes your eyes so flattering with no mascara or makeup! They did an excellent job and it feels like I have nothing on! I'm so hooked and now I'm a regular! It's a little pricey but I don't mind paying the price. The whole staff is kind and knowledgeable! I've been going to Dolly Effect for about a year and a half. I typically wear a full face of make up daily and false lashes but wanted to try lash extensions because it's quite embarrassing when the false lashes start flapping at the end of the day. My regular at Dolly Effect is the volume set, 12mm, and I get a fill every 3 weeks if I take care of them well (like don't sleep on them, as they tend to fall out faster). I don't wear my usual liquid wing liner when they're freshly done. It's only when they begin to fall off around the 3rd week where I'll draw the wings so it doesn't look so crazy. Before I started getting lash extensions, I always wondered if you can still wear eyeshadow and liner with them. And you can. It's not necessary, but if you like the dramatic look or want to enhance your eyes you definitely can. Just make sure you clean them thoroughly so make up residue isn't left behind and cause any itching or infection. Dolly Effect sells micro brushes to get in all the crevices between the lashes and your lash line to remove any build up. They will also suggest you buy the Neutrogena oil-free make up remover to use around the lashes, as they are safe for use with the extensions. They sell lash extension cleansers in two sizes which I bought when I first started. I get my cleansing supplies on Amazon now but when I'm completely out of any I'll pick some up at Dolly Effect. I love that their boutique is small and intimate. Jonathan and the lash techs are super sweet and attentive. You can call to schedule a quick consultation and have them done. They walk you through the entire process, what to expect, the different types of sets you can choose from, and make suggestion and give their honest opinion if they think something won't work for your eye shape. I always wanted to try the "cat eye" set as it gives the illusion of a wing but they do warn you of the lashes drooping, and I don't want to look like I'm sad or sleepy all the time so I stick to the volume, dolly set. I've never had an issue with making appointments or rescheduling. They're so accommodating if your schedule changes last minute and have to reschedule. Nancy sends text reminders of upcoming appointments which are so helpful. I can't keep up with my busy schedule sometimes. I don't have a regular lash tech I go to but most of the techs have done a great job with my lashes. To be honest though, I have had two experiences where my lashes were not as full, but I like to give people a fair chance as some are still learning the technique and may be new to lash extensions. CC (not sure how to spell her name) does a great job every time. They make sure to take note of any eye sensitivity to suggest the best type of glue to use. The background music is calming and you probably will fall asleep. I've woken up from snoring a few times which is pretty funny but the gal next to you will probably do the same so there's nothing to be embarrassed about haha. Street parking is about 2 hours which is enough time for your initial and fill appointment. What else is there to say? They are perfectionists which is a great thing because they make sure to take their time, and value patient satisfaction. I love them. Price range is fair as you are paying for quality. Yes, there are other boutiques that do lash extensions for much cheaper but you're paying for the entire experience including service and quality. I've heard of lash extension horror stories from people going to cheaper locations. I don't want to risk my real lashes falling off, thank you. Although your real lashes do fall off eventually, as that's the regular life cycle of hair in general, I've never had an issue with my real lashes going bald. What helps your lashes grow is eyelash serum. I swear it works. I apply it nightly after I remove my make up. Make it a part of your daily routine and you'll look at your lashes in a few weeks and notice how long they are. I tried the lash serum on my lower lashes and those bad boys grew in length and quantity. It's crazy. And the point of using the serum is to make sure your real lashes are full enough for the extensions. Dolly Effect sells a really good lash serum as well. Besides the fact that I am completely in love with my lashes, they are done very diligently and professionally! I had been visiting different lash studio prior, but was not completely happy with the service that I was receiving from Dolly Effect. The artists here truly takes their time in making sure that my lashes are perfect. I love the fact that I can wear minimal make up, but still feel naturally beautiful. I go for touch ups every three weeks and could even push it to four weeks, if needed. I had a terrible experience at Amazing Lash 2 years ago. I was very nervous about going back to try again. I read the reviews and decided to book with Astor. She is the most popular technician there and between her schedule and my schedule it took me 3 weeks to get in. I also own a small business and appreciate someone who's that busy because that tells me they are very very good. She was very gentle and dozed off a couple times during the session. She understood what I was trying to look like with my lashes and gave me a nice full volume look. Love it a lot and and I got lots of compliments from strangers! I have already booked out through June for my refills every three weeks. I was worried about sleeping in them because the last place did my lashes they used very hard and spiky lashes and I woke up and they were turned around and poking me in the eye. This is not an issue with Dolly's lashes. They are soft and easy to work with.
