I recently visited the Dollarama at Square One. I like this one better. I realize that each Dollarama is different. I like the merchandise a lot more at this store. It's a pretty big store. It was bright and not too crazy on a Friday at around 5 pm. What I love about this store was the variety of mini pop products. Most Dollarama stores offer mini Pepsi, diet Pepsi, and zero sugar Pepsi. This store had more varieties. Mini 7UP and zero sugar 7UP. Mini orange Crush. Mini Schweppes tonic water and ginger ale. Happiness is seeing a lot of selection. This store does a great job in this area. I looked at glass products. This store has a lot of them. It was nice seeing a double-wall mug with a bamboo lid. I also saw a glass pitcher with a bamboo lid. Cool! The glass containers looked sturdy. I also saw different ramekin sizes. I'm still into ice cube trays. This store had so many more shapes and sizes to choose from. I also liked looking at the pitchers. This store does have a number of self-checkout kiosks. I saw a human at a checkout, so you have a choice between interacting with a human or a kiosk. Prices are decent at this store. I find that I save quite a bit on snacks, from cookie to chips. I like this store. I'd return when I'm at this mall. (53)

Dollarama is prominently displaying that it is indeed open during these Covid lockdown times. It…read morewas actually a pretty busy Friday afternoon when I headed there. There are Covid restriction instructions on the door and posted immediately inside (it is cold after all, might as well read them indoors). There are instructions to bag your own items and to not use your own reusable bags while you're browsing and to use their baskets instead. There is hand sanitizer before the second set of doors going into the store. There are arrows on the floor indicating which way to walk down the aisles and social distancing stickers on the floor at check-out. I guess I haven't really paid attention at the dollar store but they really have all kinds of interesting stuff. I know that during the initial lockdown, weights and other fitness equipment was in short supply. I did see that they had small hand weights available. This location had a pretty extensive pet section with a better selection of dog toys and treats than most grocery stores actually. The line up was pretty long and next to the sweets aisle so I walked a path of temptation and somehow emerged without any additional sugary treats despite all the Valentine's, Easter, and very well priced goodies. If you do have a sweet tooth, the full-sized chocolate bars are a lot cheaper here - usually less than a dollar vs the ones at the supermarket.

So ... he dragged me in to one today and I have to confess. I was impressed. Good quality coffee for $1.79 for an excellent, smooth Vietnamese/Costa Rican blend which I have had before. Also, purchased some very good quality Dead Sea facial skin products from Israel. Huge selection on gift wrapping items and if you have kids, lots of stuff for Halloween. Store was clean, lineup long a tad disorganized in that regard. Also got foil baking trays, etc. at a fraction of the price you pay at the grocery store. The front wall is all window - looking out on a crummy section of Coxwell, so no great shakes there, but the extra light makes the store feel a bit less grungy than many Dollaramas. I walked in, found my $2 baskets, stood in line for about three minutes (only one person in front of me, but she was a pack-everything-into-your-purse-just-so-before-walking-away-from-the-register type).
