The last time I was here was yesterday for their October 2016 sale. I went on the last day of the October sale, and I found that the selection wasn't as good as from their sales about a year ago. First off, there wasn't much selection for women, and a lot of their merchandise are for guys. Last year, I was able to find a $10 warm hoodie, but now, the cheapest one I could find was $40 and I got the last piece with my right size. My fiance was able to purchase many hoodies, and there was a lot in stock - for guys. This time though, I was impressed by the abundance of Timberland shoes, I was able to purchase a couple of men's boots for my fiance with a good price. I checked my receipt and the calculated average of savings I get is 50%. I would recommend still checking this place out, as this is a big warehouse sale, and they have a lot of different types of clothing to shop for. They have hoodies, sweaters, t-shirts, work-out clothes, work pants, winter boots, safety shoes, winter jackets, golf apparels, even beauty products and jewelery! For a moment, I thought this could be the new XS Cargo--a Canadian discount chain that closed down several years ago and I have longed for the return of. I was aware that many Amazon products that are returned get sold to liquidators, so I entered the store with expectations of pretty competitive pricing. What I found was a pretty broad collection of cheaper-quality products at, what seemed like retail or near-retail prices. In spite of signage assuring me otherwise, the discounts that I saw just quite didn't rationalize the purchase price for me. After all, some of these products may even be defective Amazon returns and the savings just weren't substantial enough to take that risk. While the products may indeed be acquired through a liquidation sale, or Amazon palette auction model, the price that consumers like me see doesn't quite reflect that. It feels like someone's making a handsome markup here.

Last Saturday, I stopped by this Dollarama store after I had completed grocery shopping at Fresh Co…read moreacross from it. I created a new listing on Yelp. I checked in. I uploaded photos later. Yelp moderators changed that listing from 20 Leslie Street in Toronto to 17215 Leslie Street in Newmarket. It was completely wrong. I did not check in at Fresh Co in Toronto, then drove 29 km north to the Dollarama that Yelp says is where I had shopped, and then I drove down roughly 29 km to the Beaches to enjoy a snack and a drink from Country Style Donuts. I made changes to the erroneous listing for the Newmarket loctionl to switch it back to 20 Leslie Street. Yelp won't budge with any changes. Two words: highly annoying. So, here I am, creating a new listing again, uploading my photos again, creating my tip again, and now, writing a review to voice my frustration along with the actual review of this Dollarama. It hasn't been the first time that Yelp moderators missed the mark with a business listing. It happened to me when I created a Starbucks listing on Yelp for a downtown location a few years. Yelp moderators changed it to a location in London, ON. I'd like to be a moderator for local places. I'd get things right. I wish I knew where to sign up. Thanks for reading along. Let's move on to my review... I needed liquid hand soap. I like getting it at discount stores. They are effective for the price that I am paying for the product. The parking spots at this Dollarama is in the double digits. I had no problem backing into a parking spot and heading in. I walked in and a man on a mobility scooter was there. This store has a short staircase. There's also a lift with a phone number. You call the number to have somebody work the lift. I am assuming that he was waiting to use it. This store had the usual layout that you'd expect from Dollarama. I had no problems locating the liquid hand soap section. I got a jug. I was happy. The beauty section was decent. I normally don't see glass nail files at dollar stores. This one had a set of three. I like them because you can go back and forth filing your nail down. There is less nail breakage or splitting using a glass one than a stainless steel one. The shower puffs section was also impressive. Puffs on handles. Ice cream cone puffs. Regular puffy puffs. There was a ton of variety. I got a box of Q-Tips. I don't know whether they are horrible yet. We'll see when I get around to using them. I liked the food aisle. I ended up getting a jar of spaghetti with meat sauce and a package of spaghetti. The snack aisle was great. It had everything that I liked, from cookies and chips, to popcorn and dried fruit. I got a cheerful woman at the checkout counter. She asked if I needed a bag. I didn't bring one, but I was good without one. I paid for my items with a credit card. I tapped and the transaction was done. I thanked the woman, grabbed my items, and headed to my car. I then bagged them and drove off. I liked shopping here. I pass by this store often when I am driving along Eastern Avenue. It was nice dropping by to check it out. Here's hoping that this Dollarama listing isn't altered to another weird location. It would be helpful to leave it be, so that others know about how cool this place is in Leslieville, in Toronto. (386)

Today I had the stroller and I came in through the back but I bought some items that made the stroller a little heavier so I asked for someone to let me out the front door but I was refused and told I could go down the stairs WTF! I guess if you are pushing a stroller or have mobility issues and can't use the stairs you aren't welcome. I will make them happy and not come back!

Items priced very affordable and because it all goes towards the humane society, no tax! You can feel guilt free shopping for more. It's a volunteer run store and everything inside had been donated. Afterwards, I typically pop by Dollar Tree to browse and shop. I was in the area the other day and decided to drop by. I prefer Dollar Tree to Dollarama. I like the selection and everything is $1.25. At the latter, there are items that even go for $4.25. What's the point of being a dollar store if you are paying dollars for a single item? I suppose that we can blame our Canadian dollar competing with the American one when it comes to Dollarama pricing. Anyway, this Dollar Tree is the only one in Markham. I love the selection of items, from sardines, to dumplings and chicken in cans. I also love the noodle section. The seasonal section is awesome. Easter is nearly here. You can get scented Easter bunny plush toys and a ton of chocolate items. Nice! Staff are friendly. I managed to witness two staff members training a new one. They were much younger than the new hire, but were incredibly supportive of her progress. I still miss the awesomeness of Dollar Tree in the States. I've seen some of the exact same plates at other stores for maybe 30% higher price Cups and plates are my personal go to, but they have everything from soys sauce dishes to modern coffee mugs to matcha ceremony bowls. Styles are far ranging and include cute and elegant, modern and traditional styles, and they carry lots of different sizes so you are likely to find something to suit your taste. I personally only buy dishwasher safe / microwaveable ceramics (so I actually use them) and a lot of the stock they have fits that criteria. The rest of the store is a whole labyrinth of home goods like beauty, kitchen tools, home organization, snacks, and craft goods. Again some rare finds exist, so it is well worth a look. I personally bought calligraphy stuff that was cheaper and more convenient here than buying it online, and they had related supplies like writing pads, practice paper, etc. The Japanese trinket/souvenir section stands out to me because you can get things that are rare to chance upon elsewhere. The ceramic darumas are well priced, and I've bought other cute traditional figurines there. Overall there's a lot to see in this store, to the point where it feels overwhelming to browse all sections. I keep my visits targeted and short so I don't wear myself out looking at 200 pairs of similar looking chopsticks. Also, sometimes the prices in this store are questionable, but I browse knowing overall it's fair (case in point for weird pricing - tiny plate $2, significantly larger medium size plate for $2.25).
