Great selection of items, but incredibly poor customer service. I tried to use the self checkout in order to reduce the demand on the single cashier in the store. Due to the system they have in place, the self checkout required staff input a number of times. the cashier expressed frustration that she had to keep coming over to input her code and told me that I was "wasting her time and my own". it was extremely condescending. if Dollarama doesn't want us to use self checkout, remove it as an option. The employee stated she was the head cashier. Totally unimpressed. I was just trying to help. read more

Yesterday I went to purchase a few items $38.00 range. One of the items I noticed was the compost bags that I purchase there. Two options were on the shelf with different brand names and pricing. I chose the $3.00 for 20 bag option. I did notice that another brand offered $4.00 for 20 bags, so I purchased 2. When checking out a East Indian man stepped up to the till. He promptly told me that the price had gone up just that day. The price was Clearly marked on the box $3.00. I protested when he wanted to jack up the price at the til. I had purchased a cat toy for $1.00, and he got even by charging me three $1.00 changes for the one cat toy. I have been HAD. I shop frequently at this store, but I shall NOT return. I was so disappointed when the original location closed for renovations. But the new location in the mall is great, it was a bit hard to find at first but I know where it is now. I'm a confessed frugal mama so I love dollar stores and this is one of my go-to locations because it's close to my office. The staff here are great and I can always find great stuff. From the front this Dollarama does not look very big, however once you enter it you see that there is more around the corner. For people on a tight budget, this is the place to be. When looking for cheap party items, I always stop here first; from gift boxes to painting equipment, ornaments, candy, and even cheap snacks, they have almost everything you can think of. I even come here sometimes to buy a drink instead of at the food court. They also have cheap china plates, which are great for students or people who do not worry about quality since they're very cheap anyways. Luckily the staff can tell you where everything is, otherwise I would be stuck in here for hours. read more

I will not be shopping there ever again! I was rapped when I was 7 yrs old. My mouth and nose had a adult sized hand on them. Since the., 40 yrs ago, I have not been able to wear a Halloween mask, a Bella calava, a scarf on my face, as it triggers the memories and I panick. I am fine wearing a shield. I simply cannot wear a mask. It's not my fault COVID happened and if anything, people should keep their distance from me because I am more vulnerable than those able to wear a mask. There is no way on earth that their policy of no returns and no exchanges is legal. The customer has a right to exchange an item within 10 days for something more suitable or notice that something is damaged when they get home and bring it back. I like Dollarama. And I like how Dollarama always has the same merchandise, no matter which location you visit. I also like how nothing costs over $2, unlike a number of other purported dollar store. While this limits your selection, you won't be shocked when a Christmas Cookie tin costs $8. You're likely to be buying junk, and you will never get a refund, However, I'm not impressed with this location. On a Sunday afternoon in December, the lines at the till had at least 20 people in them, and a woman who was stocking the shelves (and in a rush) refused to answer a question for us and rudely brushed this off. While I understand this is Dollarama and not Holt Renfrew, I still like to be helped. And I would have been helped at other Dollaramas. Perhaps I just shopped here on a bad day. read more

This is one of the nest dollar stores in the city. Located in City Centre Mall, it is simply huge - as large as a department store. It sells just about everything from household goods to tools to toys to gifts and the list goes on. The only thing I don't like about dollar stores (and this is all of them, not just Dollarama in particular) is that most of the merchandise is brought in from China and probably made cheaply in some sweatshop, but still, when you need something in a pinch a dollar store fills the need. read more

Nestled in the basement of Edmonton City Centre, this Dollarama location is one of my favourite places to go whenever I stop by the mall. The store is quite big in size and literally has everything from seasonal decorations, party supplies, toys to household items. If you want a quick & cheap snack, go here instead of the food court. Although most items are a dollar, some are in the $1.25 to $2 price range but they're still worth it if you compared to other dollar stores. The lines are reasonable although they can be busy at some times so be prepared to wait. The staff are also nice and friendly if you're don't know where that specific item is. read more

This is the place to go for seasonal decorations and party supplies. As far as I know, they're cash only, which can be a pain if you got carried away with window stickers. If I need a trip to Dollarama, this is usually my preferred location (my backup preferred location being Southgate mall). Usually well stocked and has good variety. The value on brand name food is always good, although the off brand stuff is very hit-and-miss in terms of quality, but that is consistent with any dollar store (I don't recommend the off brand pre-popped popcorn, it tasts like stale movie theatre popcorn). This is also true for the stationary aisle. Sometimes the wait for the cash register can be a bit long, since they never seem to have more than 3 people working at any one time. It's large, there's lots of selection, a good number of staff members manning the cash registers and it is easily accessible through the mall if one needs a Dollar store of some sort. Clearly the best Dollarama store in Edmonton. It is well stocked and not overrun by wild children like many of the more suburban ones! It's located in the basement floor of the City Centre Mall (west section). It's a great spot to grab a cheap snack or pop in comparison to the nearby food court and drug store options. Best Dollarama in the city! I always find that the shelves are stocked, and the place is organized with a huge selection. I fortunately work in the offices downtown so getting there is not inconvenient, but I can see why it would be for other people. My co workers and I always find the best stuff there. Over Christmas, by boss stocked up on Melissa and Doug toys for her niece and nephew. These toy retail for so much more in regular stores! The lines do get really long, especially during peak times of day (and year), but really there are way worse things to complain about. It's a dollar store...if you are saving that much money; you can give a little bit more of your time. My issue however, is some of the people that work there just have awful spirits. I just don't understand how a human can be that miserable all of the time. When I was there last I was at the check out when this little boy came up in front of me, reached his arm up with a toy in it and tried to scan the item with the scanner that the cashier was using. I thought it was kind of cute...I remember being a kid and wanting nothing more than to be a cashier when I grew up (but seriously, how fun did those scanners look?!) so I understood his excitement. The cashier however, not so much. She ripped the scanner away, gave the poor kid an icy stare and kept ringing my things through. The kid was so taken aback and scared- I felt really bad for him! Anyways, if you can deal with the unpleasantries of employees, then I really think it is worth it for the selection alone. read more

Okay I know this seems like a crazy place to do a review on but if you like picking up stuff for really cheap then just hear me out. Dollarama is the best place I've seen where it has the best selection. Their stores are huge and you can find a lot of things for a dollar. If you are a student and have a place of your own I suggest buying some of your dishes at Dollarama. Some of their selection is pretty acceptable to own and show to company. The stuff seems pretty solid and if it does break then you can sleep well at night knowing you only paid a dollar for it. It's also a good place to pick up some cleaning supplies; it works and you don't need to spend like $4 on the named brand when the no-name brand is just as good. If you are looking for gift boxes then this is the place to find them. Art supplies and painting canvasses can also be found; they may not be so great but its good to use for practice until you find your painting style. If you need to pick up ornaments or decorations for holidays I find they have some really good items and it's cheap so if you don't need up using it again next year then you don't have to worry too much about spending too much money. If you have a sweet tooth then they have a good selection and they also make good stocking stuffers. You can pick up party stuff like balloons or streamers; you can get wrapping paper and gift bags or boxes. If you are on a budget but still want to make someone's gift extra special you can find things at Dollarama to help you out and not break the bank doing it. The staff is pretty helpful when pointing you in the right direction if you don't already know where to go. read more

There used to be a tiny but decent dollar store in the hallway connecting the mall to one of the office buildings but they closed down. It's kind of funny that it's right near the food court. There's no reason to overspend on cola, that's for sure. This location always seems to have the artwork that I like - the "paintings" of French cafes or bottles of wine or coffee. With the exception of a larger selection I don't think there is anything unique about this Dollar Store that would warrant a special trip if you have a smaller location closer to home. At different times of the day the lines can reach almost to the back of the store and the staff looks worn out and unhappy. It's a great place to pick up gift wrap,pop,or assorted kitchen knick knacks for cheap (Can't say for a dollar as not everything in the store is just a dollar anymore) but I don't like giving my money to a place that overworks it's staff and doesn't do more hiring when it's obviously a high volume location that needs it. read more

**** DO NOT SHOP HERE!**** I am a professional that works in the Edmonton core and used to go often as I loved shopping for neat little gift packaging and fun items, however I now find that the staff are very ill-mannered and don't seem to care a hoot if you find what you are looking for or not. The till lines are very long and the store is understaffed. After an experience with a certain staff member who treated me poorly, I called the store manager to inform her of how I was mistreated. She claimed that "this was just the employee's way and tone of voice" and she was sorry I embarrassed so easily; management was unsympathetic and did not care about my experience. I was informed that almost 85% of the people that visit the store steal from this location (seriously, who would have thought people would steal from Dollaramma!), so be prepared to be under full scrutiny while purchasing your measly $1-$3 dollar items. Needless to say, I will not be returning here only to save a few dollars. :( read more

I love dollarama. You can purchase pretty much everything you need there. My one complaint, especially about the location in city center is the staff. I have never met more rude employees in my life. Everytime I'm in there they are yelling at customers, don't say please or thank you, when I walk up to the register and say hello they don't say anything. When they ask for my money they don't say please or thank you. And when I'm done and I say thanks have a good day all they do is yell "NEEXXXTTT" I mean, I wouldn't want to be a cashier at a dollar store, but perhaps hire people that are appreciative of their job and customers. Being from the high end side of the customer service industry, I would compare the treatment I get in dollarama to a bum when he asks me for change and I say no sorry. Just plain and simple rude people. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because they usually have the products I'm lookin for and their shelves are always nice and stocked. read more

I've been going to this Dollarama for years now and I often spend a few afternoons a week in the mall leisurely shopping now that I'm retired. There's plenty to say about this store on both the good and bad side. On the good side, you can't beat the variety here, there's all kinds of great useful every day things that you will definitely spend more on at other stores, so come here before you do your usual supply runs and grocery shopping and you'll likely save a bundle. I know I do. A few of the staff are friendly and smiling and use common courtesy. Many others don't, but I suppose you're not going to always attract top quality talent and personality for the wages they must pay. The location is great and whoever put this store there right by the food court was a genius - it's very accessible and generally has what I need whenever I go in. On the bad side, there is a worrying amount of theft at this store and there really should be more security. Lots of really poor people shop here, which I suppose is to be expected, and some of the customers seem a bit rough around the edges so to speak and I've seen a few fights break out too, so that unsavory element is a bit of an issue. It really helps if you scope out this place and make mental notes of where things are, because the few staff members who are walking around are always in too much of a rush to help you, with very few exceptions. I often feel bad about pulling an employee aside to ask where something is because they seem quite rushed off their feet as it is. This store really needs more staff it seems. The lines can be long too, especially during lunch time. When you do get to the cashier sometimes they can be kind of short with you, somewhat unfriendly too, but a few of them really stand out as very nice. They can be quite efficient too in their speed doing cashiering but I was a bit startled and unimpressed when a young lady (clearly in her 20's and far more physically fit than me) gave my cart on the counter a cursory glance and asked me to unload the cart for her. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but if I'm the shopper and I'm supporting your business, I would like you to do your job, in just the same way that you would expect me to do mine if you came into my store. At the end of the day we are all consumers. I already picked it off the shelf and carried it around for half an hour and kept an eye on it the whole time I was shopping, the least you can do is unload it once I bring it to you, you know? Another time I actually did unload my cart and the lady put her hand out and said in a rude voice "can you stop? do you not see that the counter is full now? I still need room to scan!" and I just didn't know what to think! Honestly, you ask me to unload it and then you don't like how I do it! So frustrating. Another thing too is that some of the staff don't seem to know where things are and it really seems they should.
