This Dollar Tree looked big but I felt like it was missing a lot of inventory since half the shelves were empty. I was surprised to see that the candy, snacks and drinks aisles weren't fully stocked. Even some of the fridges in the front didn't have any cold drinks inside. On the plus side, the store was well lit and clean. Most of the items in the store were $1.25 but some items were priced higher. On the day that I went, there were signs on select items that they were on sale for $1 as part of Dollar Tree 40th anniversary. The store had a functioning price checker in the frozen food aisle and the toothpaste I was looking at really did scan for $1. The store looked like it was understaffed. There were 2 cashiers and 2 really long lines. I didn't see any other staff while I was there. I was planning on buying some essentials but I had to ditch them after seeing the lines. There were a few people in each line buying carts full of stuff and I didn't have the patience to wait. There was a security guard at the front who greeted me as I walked in. I think there was another security guard who came out of the office to scan the aisles. Maybe she caught something suspicious on the cameras. I did notice a couple of little cameras carefully hidden in the aisles so they were watching closely. Parking wasn't an issue since they had a big parking lot. However, the parking lot looked really sketchy and run down. The surrounding neighborhood looked really bad too. It was one of those areas where you had to make sure you lock your car and not leave any valuables visible in your car. read more

My Mother and daughter went in. I'm giving it a three bc I didn't go in. However, they had everything my family went in to get. Also, a three bc they said cashiers were quick. They said lines were super long. The cashiers rang up other people items quickly. This made my family thrilled. Also, a 3 bc it is in a scary part of East Oakland. One man just kept walking past the car saying hello. I believe he was unhoused. He didn't asks for any money/food. It was just the way I parked and the car next to me were super close. Immediate surrounding neighborhood is a bit rough looking - but this store is very very good with huge inventory and a massive floor space. The store was extremely busy when I went in. Tons of shoppers and many registers open. Great place to go for Christmas decorations or craft stuff or maybe cleaning supplies. As I checked out the lines were so long they opened yet another register. I really think the people working here are outstanding. Some of the shoppers here are not very refined though. So just realize that and let them do as they like - its not your job to teach the random population manners because their mom didn't or couldn't or wasn't there for them. Have sympathy for these people. I think they might have lives that are so bad they maybe feel scarcity and so focus only on themselves and their family only. When life is good you think about other people and your community - and even more importantly - people outside of your community... and you love and try to give what you can to them. I love shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joes - the people there are so polite. They cover their sneezes and don't cut people in line - really I'd love to be a part of or maybe at least donate to an organization that teaches manners - if you really think about it - it would buy people a better chance at a better job and get out the cycle of poverty and scarcity so they have enough to feel the option to think of others. read more

Rough looking area, however, this is the better dollar tree in the location merchandise-wise, it is a lot bigger than the Alameda location with More parking spots. However, customer service at the Alameda is more pleasant. I noticed thr freezer section is huge but is very empty. Not much ice cream selection when I went. But more options of frozen food. I came here with my friend. She bought a few items. I just browsed and I liked the frozen food section, which had a nice variety of entrees. It was a quick in and out of the store. I did not need anything at the moment, but I did get a bag of strawberry filled candy. My friend went ahead and paid for it. Yesterday I left the house and realized I forgot my face mask. I decided to stop by this Dollar Tree and cover my face with a shirt, asking if I could go in. I knew this was a gamble and the security guard said I could buy a mask for a dollar and nine cents. I told him I was happy to do that and asked if I could go inside. He incredulously said, "NO!" and then said, "I know you want a mask, but I still don't see no dollar and nine." This deserves a -5 stars for 2 reasons. You don't want to skip this review and the compaby should look at this as well. I've been to this Dollar Tree for over 10 years and havn't visited until yesterday. Yesterday's experience was horrible! People keep shoving you side to side and only ONE person says excuse me as she walked away.Customer service, almost every staff looked so unhappy and angry, seriously if you don't like it then leave! You're leaving such an unpleasant atmosphere. Cashier, she was so impatient with me paying with my EBT card that she pushed the ATM up in my face that's an inch away. Ahh This old Dollar Tree saved my butt many times when I was in need of cheap necessities and along way away from a paycheck. Is it me or are the Isles more cramped? I was at the register moved a few feet out of the way to grab a lotion literally maybe three feet away from me and someone took my cart and dumped everything. Employees don't care did not offer an apology and were completely rude. Now I have to go and buy everything that I was already ready to check out and I am totally pissed. Will never come back here. My visit here was summed up by seeing a man change his daughter's diaper in the parking lot, pants sagging down to reveal his posterior as he bent over, and the diaper sitting on the parking lot cement, gloriously wafting in the air like a portable septic tank. NOTICE: At first I was reluctant to come here due to the sketch-factor... but I was relieved to see the inside isn't ghetto at all. So some of the reviewers on here said this Dollar Tree is *huge* and at first I didn't believe it but after SEEING it, yes I agree: It's really big! (Bear in mind that there's a 99 Cents Only store in San Leandro (and Berkeley) that's about twice the size of this store.) I have to say that I've never been so impressed with the selection of this company before... In fact I used to not even really like DT to begin with. I popped in here to quickly check it out but ended up spending hella time looking at all their stuff. Lotsa value to be found here. This place is definitely a welcomed alternative to 99COS, meaning I can ride my bike to it from the place I live now, whereas I'd have to drive to 99. They have a quite large frozen foods section with some decent items on board. Also, the grocery section is comparable to 99 as well. Pretty much the only thing they DON'T have is fresh produce (fruits and veggies). The staff was fine, the parking lot large (although its true that you have to kinda watch your back in it), and the interior pretty clean... in fact cleaner than most 99's now that I think about it. Their holiday section was massive, too, if you're into that sort of thing, as was their home cleaning supplies and stuff like that. I rated this Dollar Tree location 4 stars for a few reasons. First off, it has a private parking lot with security; I can't stand when I have to pay to park just so I can shop somewhere. Second, it's larger than most locations, which means a greater supply of goods at cheap prices. Thirdly, the quality of the items here is pretty good, I've found a lot of name brand toys for my kids at just a dollar each( Disney, Marvel, Pokemon, etc....). Lastly, I love that they have a clearance rack that marks down to 75% off after holidays or closeouts. read more

So this is probably not the review you're expecting a couple reviews after I was a total snob about the Stork Club. But listen, fabulous is only affordable on a non-profit salary if you a) have a sugar daddy or b) save on essentials. I usually go to the small one in San Leandro near work, but I was out and about on a Sunday and dropped by this one. Oh...my...goodness - this is the LARGEST DOLLAR TREE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Well according to the woman who rang me out - it;s not. But it's the biggest one I've ever seen. It's about the size of a good sized Family Dollar or Dollar General Store - which is pretty big for a Dollar Tree. It's HUGE. It even has frozen food (but no - I don't buy anything but candy at the dollar store, there just seems to be something scary about that). The parking lot is FRIGHTENING. Be careful and your insurance rates should probably rise just for you thinking about driving into the lot. Anyway - I stocked up on what I normally buy here...sponges, Fabuloso cleaner, dish soap, plastic containers...and scoped out the pretty good selection of cute Christmas decorations. I like to come here for Mylar helium balloons and party supplies! It's a good place to pick up plastic tablecloths in all the primary colors and I love getting helium balloons here. They have a large selection of birthday themed balloons but a few for other occasions. Is it appropriate to get a "get well soon" balloon for someone who is pregnant? I have a love / hate relationship with this particular Dollar Tree. Rarely are there shopping carts. When you *are* lucky enough to find one, you can't take it to the parking lot... apparently people steal them, so bars have been put up inside the store to stymie their escape. The parking lot can be a bit sketchy. Since i have that "sucker" sticker on my forehead, I am often approached with offers of car air freshener, cd's and perfume. NO THANKS! Once in a blue moon, the service is fair. There's one check-out guy who is funny and polite. The lines are insanely long and the checkers are equally slow. This store always looks a mess, and when I was there most recently, a voice kept coming over the speakers saying "PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN OPEN THE TOYS AND PLAY WITH THEM... YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY OPEN PACKAGES." Repeatedly. I can only imagine the frustration the employees here deal with. Then why the three stars? Because I love being able to buy Halloween decorations in July. I love stocking up on paper plates for parties, princess toys for my nieces, mediocre cleaning products and utensils, pickels, candy bars rarely seen outside of Canada, dry chili peppers, bamboo skewers for my barbecues, magnets with pushpins for my fridge, notepads for my clients and other items as well. When it comes to seasonal entertaining, this is the place to come. I stocked up on holiday wine gift bags before last Christmas, and people I gave them to (with a wine bottle inside, of course) were delightfully pleased and the whimsical packaging. I visit this Dollar Tree often because it is not far from my house..... However, I dread coming here sometimes. Yes the parking lot is large but it's nasty and most of the time filled with trash. The inside of the store is not that bad as far as the layout and cleanliness, but the lines are at times are ridiculous! The fact they have the people working the register fill balloons takes way to much time, whoever is "working the floor" should also do balloons not the dang cashiers! I have found my place to pick up forgotten items on my trips to Oakland. This whole are is hard to find a 99 cent store or a cvs or just a place to sell me a bar of deodorant or a extra toothbrush, but Dollar Tree, Thank You. Place is just like a 99 cents store, OK size, nothing fancy, staff is just there to charge you, they are not there to answer most questions or where you can find a certain item, can't blame them since there are tons of items, who can keep track if they have or are out of any item at any time. Parking is in the back, large parking to be honest. In & Out in 15 minutes, took me longer since i was wondering in a few aisle before actually going to the cash register. read more

I'm knockin' off a star because of the ghetto ass kids that inhabit this store. I'm not talking about teenagers who come in getting some chips and a soda, I've never seen problems with them. I'm talking about the younger set of kids with their parents who think it's funny to run up and down the aisle and then bang their head on my cart and cry. I swear to god my mom would have kicked my ass for that behavior but none of these parents seem to care. Oh another reason they got a star kicked off is because the employees always have boxes stacked in the aisle blocking your way. Otherwise this is a perfectly awesome store. If you get unlucky, they are understaffed and the lines stretches because not enough clerks. Gets really chaotic before a holiday. Customer Service: I come here often, I give props to the clerks who smile, greet, say thank you, and are well mannered. There are some who are exhausted from the chaos and you can tell. It's a little harder to speak with them about personal bulk orders because of how busy it is. So I order things online from dollaretree.com and have an in-store pick up. read more

I've been coming to this location for a very long time. But everytime I come here, something always happens. It's obvious by the location that it is a ghetto dollar tree. So the fact that I come across some incident, shouldn't be a surprise. I like coming because it is a big store, I can always find what I am looking for. The store is always a mess. There's always like two cashiers with lines going through the aisles. The parking lot is scary here. I always have someone come up to me trying to sell me their bootleg DVDs. This one sucks. it's huge and should have a great selection but, it's ALWAYS, and yes, i mean always, a mess in here! i've gone during the week, on week-ends, mornings, afternoons, nights. it is indeed always a disaster in here. the stuff is off the pegs and thrown on the bottom rack or just in the isle. there are often no carts available. and, once you leave, you cannot take your cart to your car to unload it, you just have to load up all the bags, no matter how many you have (and i usually have alot!) and carry them out. it's a sketchy neighborhood, so i'm sure they have more than their share of problem customers, and the like, but come on now! i'd much rather wait until i go to san leandro to shop at the dollar stores down there. oh, yes, and they are big republican supporters! since i found this out, i've greatly reduced my shopping here! i'm always looking for a better dollar store to replace them on my shopping sprees! happy to say, I've found a new $1 store to be in love with. I generally write bad reviews for bad customer service. I am well aware of what the dollar store is. It's a dollar store. And I shop here for a reason. However the customer service system is the worst in the world. How do you leave and entire line of customers waiting while you make balloons got someone. This is insanely terrible form and management should change this practice immediately.
