If - 5 was an option thats what he deserved. Absolute worst customer service by Manager Joser! I asked for the phone number for corporate after returning items with a receipt and because I purchased it in Westlake he told me he would not do the refund. I spent over 1500$ for my daughters celebration of life at almost 3 local stores. He stated it was company policy not to do returns from other stores. HE LIED. both managers jin 1000 oaks and Westlake said that is not a company policy. He was so rude and told me to look up the corporate office number and would not tell me how to pronounce his name. I feel sorry for his staff. I am not yet done I have an appointment with the district area manager and I will show the video of his behavior. read more

Enter this store and immediately you will see a vast assortment of decorations for whatever holiday is coming up. This time the decorations were for the 4th of July and the choices were quite plentiful. Must mention though that unlike the name implies of days of yore, the dollar tree of today charges $1.25 for items previously proved at $1.00. While e-cards seem to be in vogue, if you feel like sending a paper card via snail mail, the assortment here is terrific and ya can't beat the prices. There are also household items and some foods/snacks. Bring your patience though as only one cashier was open while I was there and the line extended into the aisle. I have sent I several messages to Dollar Tree though their website to make suggestions or ask questions, but they have never responded to any of them. With so many other stores to shop at, why would I spend my money at a store owned by a company that doesn't care about their customers, the condition of their stores or the attitudes of their employees? I will never shop at any of their stores again! Some of the following information was included in several messages I have sent to them, but most of it was in the final message I sent on 10-15-23: I just unsubscribed to your email ads and updates due to several incidents at the Dollar Tree in Newbury Park, CA and your company's lack of response to messages I have sent. A few of the employees at that store are rude and/or lazy and at least two have made remarks that are unacceptable. Items are missing, in the wrong place, or hidden behind other stuff because they are too lazy to bother organizing things. They have claimed that there are designated people that are supposed to handle stocking and organizing certain merchandise or shelves. The air conditioning has been malfunctioning for several months and there are moths flying around the aisle where items like rice and dried beans are. Your employees know that my car isn't working and that I have to walk to the store and then strap the bags of merchandise to a golf cart to wheel it home. I spent over two hours shopping and filling a cart on Monday, 10-2-23. They only had one register open when I went to checkout, and after finished scanning the items, the check reader wasn't able to scan and approve my personal check. They apparently wanted to close and refused to open another register to ring up the items again. They didn't even want to open the scanner to retrieve my check which was stuck inside. They said they would place the cart to the side and suggested that I return the next day to try again. I told them that I wasn't coming back again and that I have had enough of their bull. I will never shop there again and will be posting about this and other incidents in reviews on websites and social media. I will be filing complaints about problems I have seen in the store to city, county and state agencies. read more

Ok, so I love this place. To say the least. I come here for tchotchkes (necessities). Dollar tree was one of the last places where you could get anything of substance for under a dollar, however, since they raised their prices I am stunned by their selection of quality products. To be honest, the employees are always a little strange and there have been multiple times that I have been stuck behind someone in line who was quite literally buying the whole candy aisle. I've stopped in here a few times, usually for candy or snacks. Today I stopped in for cute children's socks and was not disappointed. They had a good selection including some character/branded socks. The store seemed to be in a process of re-stocking so some of the shelves weren't as full as they should be, and there we boxes on the floors, making the aisles kind of cluttered and a little harder to navigate. Still, they had a decent selection of merchandise and of course everything is only a dollar (with a few items being less, such as candy bars). The cashier who rung me up with was cheerful and polite and I didn't have to wait too long. The store is located pretty conveniently off the 101 and there is always plenty of parking. This store is great, staff is great, and I feel so comfortable there that today, when there was only one person on register and 8 people in line threading all the way back into one of the aisles, I felt safe calling out, 'Hey there! Do you know you have a line of at least 8 people back here?' And no one hated on me, the energy stayed good, someone opened up a register, no lengthy apologies( 'cause we don't need that, ) and they just picked up the pace like the kick- ass employees they always are and got things moving. The staff at this Dollar Tree are always very friendly and kind, and I almost always find something unexpected. You can't beat the Dollar Tree for things like lip balm, anti-bacterial ointment, and other toiletries (especially if you travel a lot), and if you have a trailer or RV, they have a ton of lightweight items that come in handy. Be careful going to this Dollar Tree. Most times, they only have one cashier and a line that takes at least 30 minutes. Yesterday my experience was even sadder. When I entered the Dollar Tree, there was not only a long line, but the one only other employee and fallen and was hurt. The cashier was trying her best to help the customers and the employee. This location expanded but they've somehow cut their offerings - where are the gorgeous seasonal cups and knick knacks ? It's in the old fresh and easy location and it still smells like that store. The lighting is also poor as is the flooring - it doesn't Match other dollar trees. I would like to see them expand by adding more racks because it's very bare. First off, I do not like writing negative reviews. I usually just get irritated and let it go. Today, notsomuch. This visit was worthy of the crappy review I am about to give. I used to love this store. Sooooo much better than the nasty 99 cent stores. It was clean, well stocked and staffed and a pleasure to shop in for a few bargains. But I have seen it deteriorate lately. Perhaps it is under new management? Today at around 230-240 the store was BUSY. One checker closed her line (with multiple people waiting) and no one replaced her. Everyone just kept repeating "shift change". Both the manager and checker were in the front office and employees on the floor stocking. There were cases of merchandise everywhere. Place was a mess. On a Saturday???!!! At the Checkstand, NO ONE CAME TO HELP. The line was easily 10 people deep and growing. The poor remaining -very nice -checker was just trying to plug along. Luckily she was very fast. The manager could have come out, called another clerk or whatever. I get that it is the DOLLAR STORE but really? A shift change should take no more than 5 minutes or easily be seamless. Just have another till ready for the next person or have the manager come out. This isn't rocket science people. Just ridiculously poor management and scheduling skills. When I called her from the car afterward to let her know that she needed to look outside her door at the line, she was very snotty and gave me the shift change story but added it was management *and* cashiers!?!? I said, So???? (Because I am still not clear, after my own 39 years in retail, why a shift change should cause this) she raised her voice and her increased her crappy attitude and... Then I wasn't nice (really not nice- but again, this was on the phone not in the store). I don't believe her btw, there was no other manager in that office, and even if true, why would you be so lame as to change everyone at the same time?!?! Go back to management 101 you stupid cow. Walked in to fill up some time and bought some paper and pens to keep my kiddo busy. At the cash register I heard the manager bragging that she gave a customer the number to corporate to complain. She said to her coworkers in front of other shoppers, "the customer is not always right.. ". I found that disturbing and tried to ignore that it bothered me. We walked outside. My son showed me quickly that the pens we bought were dried out. I walked back in and was informed only an exchange was possible, no problem. We gave back the receipt and attempted to exchange it for pencils. The same manager told me the receipt was not the correct receipt. I told her, no, that I was just there and all the items were there,that I just bought. I pointed out the line that said "pen $1.00". She said that next time, I needed to remember the correct receipt next time and but in the spirit of Christmas she would exchange, "it this time". She then asked me to sign the exchange. I told her I didn't want to sign anything, that she was wrong and should be so accusatory. I had the cashier in front us of vouch the receipt was correct. The manager insisted I needed to sign the exchange. I reached for the pen to sign and she pulled it back with the pencils. She eventually let me sign and leave with the pencils. I made is clear that was not happy with her accusatory tone and manner. The whole experience was disturbing, all for one dollar and her need to put me in my place and the previous client in their place. It was very disturbing. Yes, my 9 year old witnessed it all. That bothers me the most. I would have not walked in there if I had known a $1 purchase would need to be used as an excuse for what this was. I should have just walked out of there and left the pencils. But am sure she would not have cared. read more

I shop the Dollar Tree regularly and this store has become a favorite because it is clean, well stocked and the employees are really friendly. The Assistant Manager, Heather, always says hello and is very helpful and friendly. The staff is really approachable and eager to help when I ask if they've seen my "wish list" items. They all work very hard to un-box the products stock the shelves as the never ending delivery trucks come in and work very hard to keep the shelves clean and in order. Dollar Tree has really stepped up it's game on it's seasonal items. They are good quality and look like they are much more than $1. I just got off the phone with a gal there named Michelle, and by far this was the best customer service I've had in months. I called asking about balloons and instead of putting me on hold or passing me to someone else she helped customers while still helping me. They open at 8a on Sat and she told me that since she is opening and gets there at 7:30 that she'd have my 16 balloons waiting for me. Um, What? Are you kidding? I came here Wednesday night just to get one thing and was surprised to see there only being one cashier when there was a lot of people in line to check out. I waited in line for 15 minutes with the line wrapping around the store and the poor cashier Barbara was so sweet and she was doing the best she could. When it was finally my turn she accidentally gave me the wrong change and had owed me $2 so she had to get her supervisor to open her register. Her supervisor who I didn't get the name of came out (large woman with long blonde ponytail). Barbara said she was having a long day and she was so sorry and I told her she was fine I totally don't blame her she was totally overworked. I said "I'm so sorry that you're abandoned over here but you're doing a great job" and her supervisor decided to jump in and say "who abandoned her? I was counting money!" The way she said that was beyond rude I couldn't even believe she would do that and be that rude to a customer. Clean, well stocked. I go here regularly to pick up items that I won't need for a long period of time - like seasonal decorations and school supplies. Their helium balloon selection is pretty good. I recommend coming here first for your party supplies and then supplementing at other, more expensive party stores for the supplies you don't find here. I just want to say that the employees at this dollar tree are honest good people. I dropped my wallet in the store and realized it several hours later. I called the store and they did say there was a wallet turned in matching my description. The manager Karina was helpful and so kind. I would definitely recommend shopping at this location. I'm an elementary teacher and was there shopping for Valentine Day goodies for my classroom. I found everything I needed and more at a very reasonable price.
