Every time I go to any dollar store, the customer service is always so bad. Always understaff with one to two cashiers only with such a long line. The staff is super rude. There was a customer that wanted like a receipt to show a balance of the gift card that she purchased individually and the cashier couldn't even do it. This Dollar Tree store in Newark is right next to the restaurant we're going to dinner. I decided to check them out after dinner. Nothing special! It is the same as most of Dollar Tree. Maybe a little less crowded and a little more disorganized than the average Dollar Tree store. The store looks pretty good on the outside. I like the storefront and the parking lot. Next to 99 Ranch Market is also an excellent addition. However, the good feeling is gone as soon as I walk in the front door! It has lots of empty shelves inside, but it still looks pretty disorganized. Not too many customers inside, but the checkout is very slow. The parking lot has some homeless people. It is still within the average amount of homeless in the San Francisco Bay Area outside of the City of San Francisco. San Francisco is a lot more homeless people than anyplace else! This Dollar Tree is close to my house and I've been a regular customer. Last month 11/13/2022 I purchased night lite. I brought it home and plugged it in and it didn't work. I immediately put it back into the packaging and stapled the receipt to it. I put it in my car hoping to exchange it the next time I went to the store. I always find great stuff here and the staff isn't rude! Looking for balloons, I knew Dollar Tree would be light on the wallet with quality merch as good as Party City. Individual balloons at Safeway are $5 now! Party City's about $2.50+. They have a wide selection of typical 18" foil balloons, including baby ones (it's a boy/girl, gender neutral)! I found so many baby shower items here, didn't have to spend all that moola at Party City, which costs 4x as much! Banners, wall decor, solid color coordinated party ware: tablecloths, large & cake plates, napkins, cups, 48 piece cutlery, crepe paper, etc. I avoid any refrigerated food items, but dry snacks like chips and candy should be ok. Some glassware votives are actually made in the USA. Greeting cards run 50 cents-$1. All the staff I've interacted with are helpful. Check this place out! Based on the day, and time of day you may encounter a friendly staff member who will smile at you from behind their face masks. But that's okay, because they assist the customers when needed and aren't rude. Not everyone is about making small talk when checking out and that's okay. I always make large purchases of close to $100 dollars for my job. At least twice a month. So you can imagine the people behind me in the checkout line are pretty annoyed and frustrated for my large transaction. Especially when there is only one cashier. It has all the regular goods for only $1!!! Although it doesn't have much selection as much as some of the Dollar Tree's. Parking: It can be a HASSLE during certain times, because there is soo many different stores and restaurants. Shopping Carts: There are plenty of shopping carts for you to use inside the store. Beware of sales associate VINCENT! He's very rude and a thief!!! He refused to give me my $5 overpayment. Even when the customer saw me hand him the $5 at the beginning and then another $10 because I wanted to keep the smaller bill instead and wanted my $5 back. Total Bill is $4.29 and only gave me $5.71 as change. He denied receiving the $5 at first. Then why does my receipt show a $5 payment you IDIOT! The manager and staff are not even helpful. Thing there are some very nice people working there like Claudia but I dont get why they answer the phone and hang it up on people. So very very unprofessional and unfriendly as well. I was in the toy isle and and employee was literally throwing merchandise at the shelves yelling the F word over and over and complaining to herself. After she got out if isle I felt safe enough to go down it. Apparently she was in the next isle and she shouted the F word over and over again and started pounding on something going completely balistic!! I reported it to the front and she just said,oh that's so and so she is hella sick today. Ummm ok but that still doesn't make it right. For a dollar tree, this is the nicest one and the manager is a pretty intense guy that cares deeply about this location. So, if you're planning on stealing maybe you should just go somewhere else because he is on top of his game. (Why do I mention stealing?
