The name doesn't quite describe what it is, which is a discount house similar to a dollar store or the old Building 19 chain. They get in "lots" of an item, sell it at a relative cheap price, then you see all the other stuff that you need and load up your cart. I've gone in there for one thing -- gloves, duct tape, peanuts, or trash bags -- and gone out with a ton of stuff. If you join OCJL's distinctive coupon program, you get special prices on some stuff - you have to read the circulars each week to keep up - and they also have something called "Krazy Card Deals" whereby if you buy something for, say, $29.99, you also get a cash card good for $29.99 on your next visit. Yes it's like getting something for free. How the heck do they get away with that? Because they know you'll load up your cart with other stuff. Also, that $29.99 item is usually not the rock bottom price. I've gotten many krazy cards and it's a decent discount. Once a year or so, they also have a "store-wide 40% off everything" sale. This is definitely the time to go in there and load up the cart. They have a fair amount of items that you'd normally find at the hardware store (sorry, Ace and Home Depot) usually for slightly less. Much of their stuff is made in China, is rather cheap quality, but the price is right for people on a modest budget. They have a little of everything: clothing, packaged food and drinks, seeds and gardening supplies, hardware, kitchen supplies and small appliances, exercise supplies like yoga mats and weights (usually out of stock because weights are in high demand right now), greeting cards, Eco-Logs for the fireplace, etc. A little of everything. The employees are busy, but have always been happy to assist when I catch up with one. The customer service people at the front of the store are very accommodating, have always taken back returns, and are nice. Everyone's nice there. A well run, eclectic store for people on a budget. Shopping for pants has become a giant pain because I've now been relegated to short status and most stores don't seem to carry their petite lines in the shops, typically they need to be ordered online, which can be annoying and extra expensive since you have to pay shipping. Either that or I buy pants and have them tailored. So when I went to Lucky at the Natick Mall (er, Collection), it was mostly to see what style and size would fit me so I could go buy stuff online. HOWEVER, at the Natick store they had a full array of "short" sizes (in general the shop seemed pretty spacious and packed to the gills with clothing). That totally made my day. Plus our saleswoman was beyond attentive and brought me no less than -20- different styles of jeans to try on. I didn't even know 20 different styles of jeans existed, but I guess they do. All in all, I was blown away with the range of waist fittings, lengths, colors, different types of leg fittings, everything was just really impressive and the salesperson was able to look me up and down to determine what style would best fit me and compliment my body type. I generally veer away from pricier stores where the sales people actually care about your shopping experience (like, seriously, I think it would be completely possible to start a fire in the corner of Old Navy and no one would notice) so maybe my praise for our saleswoman is a little excessive since I don't spend my time shopping at places like Barney's. I never thought I would spend $90+ on a pair of jeans, but I was so happy with the experience and so happy with the jeans themselves that in the end it seemed completely justified.

I bought a gift with my credit card. The manager on Dec. 13, 2023 told me I could put the items on…read moremy TJ Maxx credit card to get the points, using just my receipt and the credit card I used and my TJ Maxx credit card.  The cashier on Dec. 13, 2023 then told me the manager's name. I wrote it on the receipt. I came on Dec. 26, 2023 with the receipt and both cards. I stood in a line for 40 minutes. Two separate managers told me "if you don't have the items, you can't switch to another form of payment" and "we don't have a manager by that name." I even told them I couldn't get here sooner before I gave the gift because I was accompanying my wife who was in the hospital for weeks on end. They said, "That's our policy." Every other store just asks for your social security number if you don't have your card and this allows you to make a purchase with your store credit card.  I strongly recommend not shopping at TJ Maxx on Middlesex Avenue in Somerville.

I believe the cashiers name was Chelsea who was very nice, asked me if I wanted to sign up for rewards program which I don't shop here regularly so I denied. She did ask if I wanted a bag but didn't have a small bag and there was a .10 fee. (I thought people stopped doing this but I guess not) so I decided not too since I knew I'd be shopping elsewhere that I'd obtain a bag. Receipt can't be emailed to you if you aren't signed up in program so just got a paper. Plenty of parking.
