I have been living in MA for several years and this was the first flea market I visited in the…read morearea. A friend suggested this trip because she is searching for inexpensive, antique looking jewelry to incorporate into her wedding theme. I did some research and suggested the flea market in Lawrence, since it is open Saturdays as well as Sundays. We met for lunch in Methuen, which is a bit of a drive for each of us, and then made our way to Lawrence. The flea market building was relatively easy to find based on the pictures posted on their website. There was a dollar entrance fee, which I sincerely hope goes toward a worthy case. The flea market was a huge disappointment and not at all what we expected. Aside from a handful of unique booths (if you consider incense and beanie babies unique), the whole building was covered in knockoff purses, cheap jewelry, and random electronic devices. Not sure who thought a sane person would pay $2 for a VHS tape, but those items were alive and well. We walked around every booth at least twice, but left empty handed. Even if I wanted to buy a fake Coach wallet for $5, how could anyone deal with an inside zipper that doesn't open or close?! I hope to see what else the New England flea market scene has to offer. For someone who drove out of their way, the Lawrence flea market was a waste of time. Hopefully there are better days ahead because it can be a great experience.

I had picked up a few items that I needed and she said "you're getting tho things now?", again, I saw her face and the attitude in her tone. Like, if you don't like dealing with the public, that's no reason for you to be ride an d bothered when a customer comes to return something! I help to get you a paycheck AND I deserve to be treated with some form of respect. I was going to call and speak with the manager but this is wayyyy better and it will reach farther audience an getting an empty apology from a store manager who really doesn't care. With that being said, I will not be going to the Leominster or Southbridge Job Lot.

My eye doctor told…read moreme their $1.00 pairs work as well as prescription glasses in my case, and similar pairs can cost $10 to $15 at department or drug stores. They also offer both regular and magnified sunglasses year round. Housewares are pretty good. You can get a whole mop for $1 whereas other places charge several times that for a few mop refill pads. The food is mostly processed and unhealthy and not especially cheap although 3 liters of soda for $1 is a steal. Personal care products are all relatively unknown brands and of questionable quality. For example, the emery boards are kind of flimsy. Unlike some other bargain stores you get a shopping cart without a quarter deposit and free shopping bags. You can get even lower prices by ordering in bulk from the company's website and picking up at the store to avoid paying shipping charges. Just be sure to inspect your package for any damaged items before you leave the store. It can get busy when everyone gets out of work but there is parking on both sides of the building and the clerks keep the lines moving. They are pleasant and professional.

Today I was there and found the book I was looking for; Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne. But the pages were damaged and I'm very particular about the condition of the books I buy. So I asked a man on staff if they had anymore copies in the back. He came back with multiple copies so I could pick the one in the best condition. It was so sweet of him and he really made my day since I was about to walk out without asking. Ended up buying two more books because of him! Thank you!
