I wandered around the whole store, and found a little collection of small plastic hourglasses, for 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes. While not attractive, they will be useful for exercising. I also found a black wool hat, which is possibly a man's, and too large, but I will add a ribbon and roses. And a rain hat. It was raining. I always look at curtains, for some weird reason, but there wasn't anything interesting. There weren't any wool or cotton blankets. I'm looking for blankets for my mother. There was a lot of china, mostly ugly and made in China. I like European china. I didn't see any interesting vases, either. This is good, because I really don't have room. So any new vase would have to replace an old one. Both registers were unmanned, and three or four employees were standing around chatting. Because I only had a very few things, I did use the hated, dreadful self-checkout. Thankfully, it didn't yap at me. It looked like you could take the carts out of the store here, too, so points for that. I didn't need a cart, because I hadn't found any books. But it's nice to be able to, if needed. No one manning a register wasn't a plus. I probably could have asked. But for three or so items, it wasn't necessary. This wasn't a great store. I would be unlikely to return, as it is rather far away and the selection of books was poor. Basically 3.5 stars. But giving 4, because the carts don't have those horrible sticks on them. I loathe those things, mainly because books are heavy.

The giant rear parking lot here was just naturally a good place for all of us to chill. And was always good for a early morning Bun Run.. Mister Cheapo records and CDs Still Remains, so many of the original stores like Burlington gone to memory. I saw that the Italian place Chao has gone out of business, a shame I've enjoyed many wonderful meals there. Best Supermarket is now the Cornerstone Supermarket here and Brooklyn Pizza is still in the house. A busy local spot teeming with the Commack community's business activity. The Outback Steakhouse is one of the original Outbacks that I have been going for many years. Some of my best memories are in this Outback restaurant here. Verizon now has a free-standing building with the old gas station used to be the shopping center remains at the center of Commack's vibrant Community. I always enjoy visiting the Mayfair and shopping here whenever I am in the area. I can't help think of the memories and times that I've had here.
