Well of course I didn't have some ingredients that I needed for a recipe and didn't want to drive…read moreto my usual supermarket. So I figured , what are the odds that Tops won't have tomato paste and cumin? I'll just run over there and grab those few things there. Oddly the store didn't seem crowded but there were only about ten carts to pick from. They do have wipes to clean them with, so I did that and went in with high hopes. Why I didn't take a picture of the spice section I can only attribute to the shock of it. I can honestly say I've never seen a spice section that looked like this. I'm not sure what happened, if there is a spice festival I wasn't invited to perhaps, but there was row after row after row of empty spices. But for Ginger , and coriander everything else was gone!! I found the other items I was looking for. And the rest of the store looked to be in good shape. There was no wait to check out and the clerk was very pleasant and helpful. I'm very sure she was cheerful under her mask. She packed my bag and reminded me that I had a soda on the counter to drink and not to forget it. And even when I went out to the parking lot and loaded my car, the young man saw me getting ready to take my cart back to the store and came over from across the parking lot to get it from me and saved me the trip back. So I was pleasantly surprised by my trip to Tops at the University Plaza today , but I do wonder what event is taking place that required all the spices to be almost completely gone???

I kept looking for the tire brand logo on the meat. I know how to cook as I've done it for decades. I had a meat thermometer in it so when it reached the medium rare temperature I assumed it was done. I cut into and confirmed some pink inside. Then I took my first bite and knew this was absolutely a waste of money. Never again Tops.

I discovered this store during 2025 and it has quickly become my go-to favorite grocery store. I'm…read morehere at least weekly. If you eat seasonally and value keeping your money in the local community, this is a great place to do both. Things I love: Great deals on seasonal produce, especially for members (I signed up on my second visit and boy is membership worth it!). High quality meats. Plenty of locally grown and made options with clear signage. The bulk section is especially great - bring your own containers and you can get some excellent savings on dried fruits, grains, rice, nuts, candies, beans, spices, loose-leaf tea, and more. Sometimes they do tasting days where you can try samples of the pre-made food items. Non-food things: Staff is all friendly and helpful. Parking is easy. They have an electric vehicle charging station in the lot. There is a "little free library" style shelf at the front to share books; there's always new stuff to read and often a selection of cookbooks to try out. Some prices are higher than at other stores so I do shop in multiple places depending on my list. For anything I want in bulk, local, or organic, this is where I get it. Plus, people here are just nice. Staff, customers, everybody. The vibe here is positive and comfortable and it's just a nice place to be.

Our chocolate cakes are about 4 1/2-5 inches in diameter. The topping choices were: fresh raspberries and blackberries, colored sprinkles, pecans and chocolate pieces shaped like 1/2 footballs. Courtney first made the dough to make one of the chocolate chocolate chip cookies. It's only a 90 minute class, so that bowl of dough went back to the kitchen to be baked off. Courtney then made fresh vegan vanilla buttercream, just to show us how easy it is to make as a vegan topping.. Since it was not a full class we were all offered a second cake to decorate with the vegan buttercreams and the other toppings.

Located on the same side of Main as Shango, at the corner of Main and Custer, next to the Nile Hookah place and just in from the Laundromat. Walking in this indeed "little" store was nice. The employee (owner perhaps) acknowledged me immediately and very nicely. I took a stroll around. They sell cards for all occasions, so when you need that last minute birthday card for your sig other you can come here. They have laundry detergent, mouthwash, various kitchen utensils, soaps and the like. Then they have a selection of glasses, real ones, nice ones. And then a selection of food items, things like "soup in a cup", so for that day you can't face the supermarket, come here. All things priced in the 50 cent to 2 dollar range from what I noticed. I'm guessing they are targeting the University kids, being on that strip, but the whole neighborhood benefits from a place like this. You can get what you need, last minute, at a more than reasonable pricepoint, and from friendly employees/managers. You can walk there easily. Really, what more could you want? #300

Not to mention crept vibe feeling as soon as you walked in. Besides the store being an absolute joke is this some sort of a "front" for some other business dealings??? So confused will never go back.
