This place should be called the Baller General because all of the girls that shop here are totally in love with LeBron. This particular store only gets a 2 because they overcharged me for water and cat food, and because they refused to look in the back to see if they had any more of the things I needed, and complained about me even asking. Also they bagged my waters 4 in a bag instead of 2, making them almost impossible to carry. Edit: my subsequent experiences here have all been good, nice service, clean and easy and quiet store, quick in and out (just the way she likes it, not the way I like it though), and cheap-ish goods. This isn't the best dollar general because it's small but they seem to always have what I am looking for. It is always busy though especially on the weekends and cashing out takes FOREVER so I was excited to see that they put in a self checkout lane! Hopefully customers who aren't in a hurry to get in and out will leave it open for someone who is (like I usually am) and will not use that when their cart is full. read more

Sadly this Dollar General location is no longer reliable. For some reason, this particular location is still often barren shelves, even when other Dollar Generals I go to nearby are back to being decently stocked. There are a few items I prefer to grab at Dollar General, like I prefer their brand drain cleaner, and they have the CeraVe hand cream in the size bottle I like. Pre-pandemic, I'd run in here for those things and some other odds-and-ends often, typically without any issue. Now I've been in at least a half-dozen-plus times grumbling to myself, "Why did I come to this location again when they never have my things anymore!" Yet the nearby Union/Genesee location and the Sweethome/Sheridan store I like in Amherst have remained fairly reliable in inventory for staple items. Yesterday I needed some candy stocking stuffer items, not even holiday candy but some regular common brands carried by the Dollar General, and this store was all out! This store has had irregular hours lately, too. This is not their fault, staffing shortages are to blame, but just an FYI if you stop here after 7PM the doors may already be locked for the night. The convenience of where this Dollar General is located for me will probably keep me coming back in from time to time. Hopefully one day I won't have to grumble so much when I do. :-( read more

I often hit up this location when I'm looking for a couple things and I end up getting sucked in for like an hour finding all sorts of cute things. Today was no exception as my need for candy canes got me with a $75 bill which included many many things that were only a dollar! I want to write this review to say that every time I am in the store the staff are consistently helpful friendly and overall wonderful. It's nice to see someone at work that seems to enjoy their work, chats a little bit and knows the lay of the land in the store. I hope Dollar General keeps it up with their variety of little cute pens and notebooks and other little homey doodads that I can't seem to resist. I watch a make up artist on YouTube who actually highly recommends dollar generals exclusive line of make up for an affordable high-quality product. While I've never tried it I did see the set up today and I was impressed with the variety of products and pretty colours! I may have to try something on my next stop in. This is a good store and it's at a great location and the staff are wonderful highly recommend this one. read more

I like this store because it's great for when I need something fast like light bulbs, greeting cards, a gift for a kid, or batteries... or putting together a basket for a shower ;) A decent selection of reasonably priced cleaning products, too. I spend a lot of my law school years in here buying the cheapest products I could find... love finding those little gems with the "compare to" label letting me know that I'm buying the exact same product at a much cheaper price. It's always sort of disheveled and messy feeling, though, and it seems like they're always switching entire shelves over while I'm in there for some reason! The staff ranges from super friendly and helpful to flat out surly, which gives it its own charm I suppose. The catch is, you have to be open minded when entering a store like this... no, they don't have the kind of shout spray you're looking for, or the exact size of garbage can you had in mind, or the color of drapes you really wanted, but hey - it's cheap. It'll be interesting to see what happens when this moves to the rumored new location across Union Road, perhaps the untidy-ness and small selection will improve. read more

Okay, I really love the Dollar General...in general...hehe...so their entire stock of products and all that isn't particularly my concern, they've got decent prices and nice sales a lot, but as far as my 30 minute trip to this store I've never been to I'd say I was pretty happy considering how nice the employees were towards me despite being THAT customer, walking in a half hour before close. I'm not a very quick shopper. I like to browse and I know that you gotta dig for the "gold" sometimes. So I was naturally in there...seconds before close. However, they weren't rushing my friend and I out the door, the transaction was simple and quick but the cashier did not give off a disdaining energy which always helps when I have social anxiety, not to mention I HATE being late and being last minute, so the fact that I wasn't rushed was an ease on that part. Also, they were super helpful and let me know of the current sale that was happening (not to mention the last night of the sale) so they attended to my confusion when it came to the clearance areas. Additionally just friendly and not being all stand-offish due to my rather...loud appearance and rather confusing sense of being. I just have a lot of piercings, tattoos and wear HEAVY makeup, and no one can tell what gender I am half the time because of that, but it certainly wasn't an issue to the employees when it came to helping me, and that really made me feel like I had to put in the review since I don't really get that experience a lot. I'm often coming across to be 'annoying' the employees when it comes to retailers that have several locations nationally. So to the two people that were working there last night, thank you for not being mean about me being in there right before close because I really didn't want to be lol. Side note: my friend and I were still in the parking lot a half hour after they closed, we were just eating a weird snack I bought and just talking but when the employees left they kinda just smiled at us and didn't give a weird look or be like "LEAVE NOW" or anything. So that was cool. My anxiety wasn't really set off other than the having to leave quickly so CONGRATULATIONS 5 STARS!! read more
