It's been a very long time since I have eaten at Dollar Hits, but we have visitors from out of town and they wanted to try it. We decided to go to West Covina location because we know the Los Angeles location would be very difficult for parking. Even though West Covina does not do the grill your own which is what our visitors have done before, it was still the better choice between traffic and parking. The difference between the two locations also is West Covina has other food items, such as pancit, diniguan, Chicharron bulaklak, lechon kawali, Balut, some desserts and quite a bit more, compared to Temple location is just the skewered meats. So you give up the fun of cooking it yourself for a diverse menu. I too, like the ability of cooking your own skewers. It's a fun experience and a you can have great conversations with people at the grill. I would return again, however one of the other disappointments is that the name is still Dollar Hits, but the price is now $1.75 per skewer which can add up very quickly if you let your eyes do the picking. read more

Although, a lot of the skewers look kinda unappetizing... it looked like it was there for a really long time?? I was pretty basic and just got the chicken skewer and the more premium pork skewer. Unique place with a decent selection of Filipino food. A host of hearty Pinoy dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as fun snacks. Service needs work; it took a long time for our small group to get served. Employees kept avoiding eye contact and are well-aware you're there, but they aren't proactive with service. By the time I got helped, 3 other people cut in line, and the employees didn't bat an eye that there was a line before them. The pancit canton was average - it was okay but not something I would order again. The cantaloupe juice was also a bit too sweet for my taste. About halfway through the meal, we realized one item was missing from our order. Here's how it works - you place your chosen skewers on a tray and hand them over for grilling. They came out perfectly charred and so tasty that, of course, we had to order rice to go with them. We had a one day trip to Cali from Vegas and really didn't want to take the drive to the location in LA which was our go to I know traffic going there was going to be over an hour so we opted for the second location which we have never been and I know you don't get the same experience as the one in LA and let me say I actually like this place specially when you don't feel like smelling like bbq because they grill it for you! I would see and hear how the LA location is and being able to grill your own skewers For the West Covina location you grab a container filled choose from the vast selection of skewers and bring to cashier and they'll grill em up for you. It's great that this location exists so we don't have to drive to LA when we are craving skewers! Each skewer is only $1.50, so you're able to try a lot of options. It's small, cozy, and clean inside. They have those long plastic white tables for 6 people where you might have to share with others. They only have 3 so if it gets busy, it can get cramped inside. They also have a few chairs available at the counter table by the wall. You get to pick your choice of street food, pay at the register, and they will grill it for you. They also have desserts, refreshments, and snacks. Most skewered items are $1.50 per piece. We got pork BBQ, kwek kwek, chicken isaw, veggie fried lumpia, kikiam, betamax, lobster balls, melon juice, sylvana cake slice, karioka, turon, pork isaw and pares with rice & soup $8. They used to have balut, but they said it hasn't been available for a while now. The best tasting food among all the items we got are the karioka and veggie eggrolls.
