We love that we have a local Dollar General - let alone one on each side of our town! We luckily have 2 stores not just 1 store in our city. Additionally each of our Dollar General stores have their own self check out area to be helpful for their customers.
Throughout the holidays especially the use of the self checkout system would seem to be a prime opportunity for their workers to get more accomplished and to stop long lines from forming.
It did once work great for our family and many thousands of other families!! It obviously helps out during multiple busy times daily when there is usually only 1 worker available and stops a long line from forming; while wasting time of its shoppers. There are multiple reasons throughout any given day for store management to use these extremely useful platforms!!
We've noticed over the past 6 months the self check out area has become cluttered with random items and has become completely un-usable. No one has cleaned the area up since BEFORE this past summer.
Since being unable to use these valuable time saving self checkout areas we are now standing in long lines daily ... minimum of 3 to 5 people are usually standing in front of us at any given time. It makes no sense and is completely avoidable.
We have started bypassing going to our local Dollar General to go to either Krogers or Walmart since they have more checkout options rather than standing in a long line for 5-10 minutes to buy a handful of items or even 1 item.
It was a wise investment for local competition stores to add a self checkout area yet if they are not going to use their own "valuable tools" to help process customers more quickly and to create less waiting times it is easier to speed right past these stores to save our valuable time elsewhere for better quality. read more
