I have always shopped rural king and love most of the employees how kind they are. But today when I went in to talk to them about 2 bags of layer pellets that i got there & unloaded in my garage with my other animal feed. When I opened them the feed was clumped like it had been somewhere that moisture had gotten to it & both bags of feed were moldy. The manager who came up to me embarrased me in front of other customers saying theyve never had any complaints & so I must have done something wrong. So I just wasted money on 2 bags of feed. I wasn't about to buy another bag there. I have bought goat & chicken feed there for the last 8 years & never have i had a mold or moisture issue on my end. I'm sorry but you lost my business. As a widow who has hard enough time managing all that i have to deal with, I lost my respect for your store. read more

I have been a loyal customer for almost my entire life after today I may not go back. I bought a pair of wrangler jeans last week wore them twice and they got a hole in them tried to return them and they refused said the skews were different but the jeans but they were clearly new and were the exact same pair in the picture they pulled up so I don't know what happened but the manger and front desk worker were very rude. I walked out after the manger said "Not our problem call Wrangler" I will be calling the corporate office tomorrow morning. read more

This is one of the worst stores in the state, First they told me they had my coat in stock and when I drove there they had none in stock & told me to go to the web site, So I did and ordered one, No replys for over 2-3 weeks so I called, They told me it was on hold through a 3ed party, Called again and had to reorder my coat, 8 days later I received an e-mail saying my order was cancelled!! when I called again they told me they did not have one in stock ( This is the 2ed time such a thing has happened with this store ) I believe their web site is a scam!! We stopped here to look around as there is no rural king near my home. They have carhart clothing and jeans with other clothing. There was a large selection of dog and cat food and supplies. In the springtime today we saw a big selection of baby chickens ducks and turkeys. read more

I am dismayed by the store's refusal to give rainchecks to customers who request them for regularly stocked items that are on sale but out of stock. I spoke to the store manager but he flatly refused my polite request, even after I told him his refusal was against the law in Ohio. I even told him where he could look it up online in The Ohio Revised Code. He said he did not care if it was illegal, that none of Ohio's Rural King stores will give a raincheck for anything that is on sale. I then wrote to Customer Service and Megan write back, saying the same thing. I wrote back, asking if their store did not care about Ohio law, to which she replied that I should inform management of the violation. I responded that I think that is her job, not mine. I am filing a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office today. read more

I was wanting to get several resin whiskey barrel planters. I went to two Rural Kings after calling to verify they were in stock. Arriving at both locations, I was informed they were out. The sales associates were very apathic and it was apparent that they were being bothered by me. I then ordered 7 on line and paid for them. Next morning ,I got a message the company was out of stock. My payment was returned to my checking account. I called the Xenia location and was assisted by a young lady named Ella. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and very helpful. She told me she would have them at the front desk for pickup. Lo and behold she was good to her word. Because Ella was the first person at any Rural King who acted like she knew about giving good customer service I will be returning to your store. Kudos to her! read more

Not well organized inside. Staff is not knowledgeable. Management disinterested in serving customers. Tried to buy mulch, purchased it at cash register inside was told to meet a loader out by patio. Waited there for 5-10min went back inside then was told to find a worker outside, another 5-10 min later still no luck. Finally found one poor worker whom seemed to be the only one working. He searched and searched and couldn't find the type of mulch we had purchased. The employee radio management to no avail and eventually given answer they didnt have it. How do you sell something you dont have? Poor management! Was given refund and crossed street to Lowe's (was asked multiple times if we needed help). read more

Tried to shop for a bale of straw for my feral cats at Rural King in Xenia, OH. Talked to a nice young man about supply and told us what we needed to do. Went to register to buy and then drive around back for pick up but never got past the register because the cashier (racist) she kept in ignoring me and talking to a customer she personally knew. I go to the Rural King in Lebanon and find great deals on items I need for my mini-farm. They have EVERYTHING from tractor attachments and fencing, food and toys for your inside pets. They have grain, tack and medical supplies and smaller fencing for your goats, chickens, horses,sheep etc. And so far, the prices are better than TSC. I wish they had local hay and straw for sale or would let local dealers sell from the parking lot (maybe some do). I think they would be a great addition to Rural King and save a lot of us from craigslist-dealer headaches during hay season. I am selecting moderate on price because most things I need are expensive (but fair prices) but their prices for garden and small animal items are inexpensive. read more

I am very dissatisfied with the store here in xenia Ohio I have bought a lot of items just to find out most of it is worse than second hand stores. I have to augue with someone when ever I take something back.example I bought a fiskars wood maul the handle cracked down by the maul after spitting 3 logs of (locast) . anybody that knows anything about wood knows locast is a hard wood but very easy to . on the handle of the maul has a sticker lifetime warranty . I had just bought the the thing 2 days before I broke it .all I wanted to do at the time was just to swap for another just thinking that I got a bad one . never the less that didn't happen I had to go home and find for my recipe so I could refund it .that sucked but nevertheless that's what happened I feel the guy behind the counter could of done it differently saying all I wanted was to replace it. So anybody reading this the sign that hangs above the return desk states that if you don't have a recite that they will give you a in-store credit . well that's bullshit .. Now if that isn't bad enough I went back and bought a chainsaw ecko 800 or something like that after tax I paid over 900.00 dollars and I paid cash . I could not get the saw started.i could believe it .so I took the saw to a fried of mine that cuts trees for a living .all he talks about when it comes to dads is just how good eckos are well he couldn't start it either.soi got my recipe and had my brother to take it up there for me mainly because he used to work there and he knows everyone so I thought it would be done . Finally a business in our old Walmart! And a good one at that! My family has found ourselves shopping at Rural King regularly ever since they opened their doors for the first time. First of all, they have great prices on things for our swimming pool (chemicals, toys, etc.) and also for our yard. (fertilizer, flowers, mulch.) I bought SO MUCH mulch there this year! They're also the only place in town that sells our cat's special food she likes. I think this is a perfect fit for Xenia. read more

Rural King is similar to a Tractor Supply, but larger. They have a large outdoor clothing section, a section for tools and tractor attachments. They have seeds and live plants, bird feeders and food. They even have cat litter and baby chickens. The prices are competitive with Tractor Supply and Walmart's garden center. My biggest complaints is the store looks a bit dirty for being brand-new, but the building was a Walmart 10 years ago and this kind of store can get away with a dirtier floor than most stores could. read more

It was not a good day at Rural King! We are under a heat advisory and either their a/c is broken, or not turned on. The ladies room was in bad shape- and there was no soap in the dispenser. The cashier was unable to answer my question as to whether or not Rural King has a rewards program. And the biggest offense of all is that the popcorn machine was NOT EVEN TURNED ON! The 'manager' (or assistant manager) is not at all interested in good customer service (the nicest way I can think to put it). Rural King has great prices on batteries but after being assured over the phone that an ad that made no mention of a 'core-charge' requirement (for an old battery) was indeed correct, and that there was no core-charge requirement, I drove 48 miles to Xenia and put 2 in my cart (along with about $140 additional merchandise) only to be told that they couldn't sell me the batteries w/o 2 old ones as trade-in. After my protest resulted in a request to speak to the manger, I was (after about 15 minutes) greeted by a smug teenaged young man who, after checking the ad and finding no mention of a core-charge, informed me that it was against 'State Law' to sell batteries w/o collecting trade-ins. Later that day I drove to another Rural King where the manager and a very friendly staff were more than happy to sell me 2 batteries at the price listed in the ad. Moral - some Rural King stores are much, much better managed than others. read more
