The bad: Dollar General no sooner installed self-service checkout stands than they promptly closed them (according to staff) due to customer theft. Now, there are 1 or 2 "manned" cashier stands,and the 2 self-checkout stands are collecting dust!

It started off as a random thing and now it's happening more and more frequently. And when they close early is random so one day it'll be 10pm like normal and other days it 8pm. And it's not made clear. Very inconsistent and unreliable. It's totally fine if you want to change the operating hours just be CONSISTENT about it. Or just make a permanent change to hours. It's very frustrating when the posted hours say 10pm and they close at 8:00pm and youve scheduled your plans around them closing at 10. Especially if you aren't in the mood to drive into town. And for people who don't have a car or have unreliable transportation it must be even more frustrating. And in the past they close for maintenance / temporarily close which is fine. And totally understandable. It'd be very helpful if they posted a big yard sign in front of their driveway or something similar to visually notify people driving by they are temporarily closed. Just some form of visual notification at the beginning of their driveway would be wonderful. Because alot of people go to town and shop then swing by the dollar general on the way home. And you can't see the tiny sign they've placed in the door. So they look open.. and then you have to drive back to town to the dollar general in the city of weed. And it's an annoyance that could be avoided. Other than that great store. . I love having a store so close to lake shastina. That's the only reason I'm providing my constructive criticisms. I just want the store to continue to do well.

Weed, Ca is not a big city, most that visit are passing by. Dania the cashier was interested in why I was taking pictures, I had to explain that I love reviewing businesses. She went on to explain that a lot of homeless were trashing up the restroom. The restroom says you have to buy something, I purchased a lollipop for 50cents I am sure a homeless person can afford that. That's not a good enough excuse... your business just force people to buy stuff.

Never had an issue. Today they refused to let my husband use the restroom while we were pumping gas until he produced a receipt. They could literally look outside of the window and see our truck hooked up to the gas pump. So this business wants you to sit there and wait for your gas to finish pumping before you are allowed to use the restroom-no other gas station in CA is like that. We will never stop here again. There's plenty of other gas stations and we will be using a more reasonable one from now on because who wants to stand next to your vehicle to collect a receipt in order to use the restroom? Also wanted to add that the lady behind the counter was incredibly rude. Do yourself a favor and just go to one of the other gas stations in Weed.
