This time got off to a bad start, as I was walking up to the store I was almost hit by somebody who didn't want to wait a few seconds for a pedestrian. I am so unimpressed with this grocery store. They are far behind all the others because they don't offer many dairy free alternatives. I looked for a dairy free yogurt and a dairy free ice cream. Most regular grocery stores have at least a few varieties to choose from, I saw none. Their organic section is super small. They do have some Amy's organic frozen entrees so there's that at least. The Weed store and the Mt. Shasta Rays Food Place stores are great for selection. Especially Weed, the selection at Ray's is great for a small town. The store is owned by the employees now and the people who work there are friendly and helpful. Ray's produce is always fresh and nicely presented. The only negative to me is Ray's high prices which can be twice as high as the only other grocery store in town that is considered a discount or "bargain market" by their own slogan. I go to Ray's when I don't want to have to go out of town to get a certain brand or the best produce around. There is a chain of Ray's Food. The reviews that say Ray's has rude employees don't say which store they are in. It's not Weed or Mt. Shasta! read more

I live in the area and frequently shop at Rays. They have wonderful fresh produce. While I'm no longer vegan, having access to good quality fresh produce is important to me. This is not a big store but am surprised by the variety it does carry, including organic. The store personnel are very friendly, knowledgeably and extremely helpful. The store, including the bathroom, is especially clean and in good order. Although smaller than many of today's grocery store, it is quaint and does a good service to the community. read more

Overpriced and the staff is rude AF. We stopped in to grab some road stuff and use the restroom and they said no, sorry, we already cleaned it for the night (45 minutes prior to close) so you can't use it. Sorry Ray, not getting my business then. Guess we looked like we didn't want to shop and pay the expensive prices and shell out too much money. I live in the area and only go there when I'm in a pinch for something due to their prices. I was there on 3-18-2020 for a few things. Among those were a six-pack of paper towels. Not a premium brand, but a cheaper brand which would normally go for roughly five or six dollars. When the cashier gave me the receipt, it seemed way too high, and I noticed the paper towels were $13.99, $15.04 with tax. I asked her if it was a mistake, and she said "You don't have to buy them, you can return them if you want". And the cashier next to her immediately turns around and says "Yeah, you don' have to buy them". The answer was too quick and seemed prepared, so I knew that other people had been mentioning to them that the price was high. I chose to get my money back. Like most people, I don't like being taken advantage of. The store seemed like it might have been under new ownership, because there were people working there that I haven't seen before, and there were some changes in the store. The point of this "review" is to say: To whoever made the decision to jack the price up this high on these paper towels in this time of coronavirus, when paper products are getting scarce, SHAME on you for trying to take advantage of people in a time like this. It's a disgusting thing to do, and it's wrong. If YOU went into a store to buy something that you needed, and you saw the price was jacked up to almost double, you wouldn't like that. And yet, you are willing to do to other people something that you wouldn't want them doing to you. And that is why you are wrong. read more

This store needs work. Especially training for their employees. Was in the store on 10-6-2019 and witnessed an Asian gentlemen who needed help with a western union transaction and being of broken english he didn't understand the cashier. After he was directed to the proper place I had to sit and listen to the cashier and racist lady in front of me go on and on about how certain people do not belong in this country and how stupid the Asian gentlemen was but somehow "they all understand money" and so on and so on. Do all of us a favor and just do your job and save your political views and racist comments for your private conversations because it makes you the stupid looking one. read more

Alright, first the good. . . They're close to Radiostar. They're small and somewhat friendly. They rent movies. now the not-so-good. . . They're small. really small. WAYYYYYYYY smaller than the ray's in shasta. They're expensive. .25 for a bag of ramen???? I don't recall ever paying more than 10 cents a bag. . . eek. And when I was buying everything to make a cheesecake the girl ringing me up said "Oh, baking?" to which I replied in the voice that has earned me the title of gayest straight man alive "Oh yes, I was just sitting around my living room and thought, CHEESECAKE NIGHT!!!" She was visible horrified and offended and from that moment on refused to speak to me or even make eye contact. Other than they they had food stuffs. If you give them money you can take said food stuffs with you. It's a system that works pretty well, so I give it three stars. read more

This is our neighborhood store. The produce is fresh, the employees are friendly and helpful. I am glad we have a supermarket in town.

Not much for any pre made Sammy's and such. Small town but a descent supply. Liquor is cheaper if you go down the road a few blocks.

Store seems fairly dirty, as if there's been months of dusts accumulating in all corners and small spaces in the store. There's very little to choose from, and for the area, everything is way over priced. Not to mention, the food is not the freshest. I just moved here from the Bay Area where I felt food prices were SKY-HIGH. But since shopping a few times at Rays in Weed, I was sooo surprised to see some items were even more expensive. The store is VERY VERY small, they do not have very much in Gourmet items. I would just like to know why and how they get away with charging such extremely high prices. read more

This store is like a small version of Safeway/Albertsons. They sell the basic truck stop snacks and some other foods but very basic. Only staff is at register so you can't really ask for a lot of help. Came here because I was passing through and needed to grab some bug bite cream. They have a small section for medicines but the rest is mainly just food for a stopover. read more

The prices are what you would expect from the only grocery store in Weed, CA. The employees are friendly and helpful and they even have a little video store inside. They even carry some organic veggies, eggs and milk for those who are health conscious. Its not Safeway, but for a small town grocery store it does the job and does it well. read more

I stopped at Rays to pick up some chips along with a few other things. I don't usually shop here because of the high prices, but I just needed a couple of things. The chips were on the end of the isle on sale two bags for $5.00. Managers special. I was just going to pick up one, but I chose two because of the sale. I continued shopping, and checked out. On the way home which is ten miles away, I thought the bill was a little high. When I got home, I looked closely at the receipt and sure enough, they charged me full price for the chips. Not my favorite. Not even close. No selection. Most importantly, the place could use a makeover. There's nothing wrong with a small store if its kept up well. I don't think this place has seen fresh paint since the 70s. Maybe earlier. But, unfortunately for locals, it's the only place for at least 10 miles, 25 if you head north. Well with this rays you can count on dishonest employee's who don't know how to count money out and if you happened to give the cashier more than you thought you did you can count on them taking that extra money and putting it in their pockets.
