Since moving to the San Luis Valley, Sam's Club is not accessible to me anymore (unless I drive 2-1/2 hours to Pueblo), so I looked into Valley Meat. The price of their beef short ribs is actually comparable, if not less expensive. I've also bought pork belly, and they cut them to however I want them. Meats that are not available at Walmart, City Market or Safeway, I buy them at the Valley Meat Market. Recently, I bought ox tail there. I have two large German Shepherd dogs. I buy quartered raw femur bones regularly at Valley Meat with prices that do not break the bank. My dogs love them!!! I have to mention that the folks at the meat market are also very nice and friendly. As soon as you walk in, someone will immediately help you. If you do not like to wait, give them a call and place your order. Just let them know when you want to pick up, they'll have your order ready for you. Try them...they have excellent fresh meat!!!

Correction: tens of thousands, if you include future business. My wife is the food coordinator for a major area charity. She doesn't get paid a penny to do it. She called this Walmart months ahead of a major volunteer event to see if she could order hundreds of prepackaged sandwiches, and how much lead time they needed. She placed the order with the requested lead time, padded by several extra days just to be safe. But shortly before the sandwiches were needed, the order was cancelled without explanation. My wife called and emailed multiple times to find out why, and to try to see if something could be worked out. She got no response of any kind, ever. There is no imaginable excuse good enough to justify what happened. Shandy Hayden yanked the rug out from under us, and if she doesn't deserve to be fired, I don't know who would.

In Alamosa this is the go to place after 10PM. When I walked into Walmart there were shopping carts available to me. That in itself is a bonus. The store was clean and organized. I was greeted by THREE store associates while shopping. That is unheard of in Albuquerque. There were registers open and I was checked out within 5 minutes of getting in line. My cashier, Brandy, was efficient, cordial, and aware of other folks waiting in line. She let them know I'll be with you in one moment. Today the Alamosa Walmart gave my customer service I rarely see. Budget cuts and task oriented associates have dampened customer service and I understand why. Everyone else could take some tips from the Alamosa Walmart. Now if Walton wasn't such a turd Walmart might have gained some status in my book. For now I'm going to continue to stick with employers who pay a living wage to all of their associates. However, I will not soon forget this experience.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I spent a morning taking a guided rafting trip with RMSR. We had…read morethe privilege of having Anela as our guide with Maki on the raft just behind us. Both are fabulous, hardworking ladies. Somehow, we were the only two guests on the raft with Anela, so we felt we had personalized service and room to spread out. I believe there were 4 other rafts that morning with all of us cruising down the river together. The morning of the tour, we arrived a bit early. The ladies in the shop had us fill out the necessary waiver. There is a selection of merchandise available to purchase and a small restroom available to use in the shop. The van ride to the launch area was fairly short. The guides handed out life jackets to each guest and made sure the life jackets were nice and snug. No helmets or wetsuits were needed. Before getting on the rafts, Anela gave the morning safety speech of what to do if someone should fall out of the raft. Fortunately, no one did on our tour. The week prior to our tour, the area had received rain each day, so Anela mentioned that the water level in the river had come up. Our tour was a few hours long and a very relaxing float. There were a few slightly choppy areas on the river, but nothing rough at all. The scenery along the Rio Grande is beautiful. We had the option of jumping out of the raft at one location, and only one guide in the group decided to jump out. I personally wasn't sure how I'd get back in the raft, LOL. Our guide Anela was fantastic, super friendly and informative. The beauty of the mountains was incredible. We will book again next summer!

We contemplated continuing on with our tour, as we booked for 8 people (prices were great, but 8 bookings adds up), however our guides were very supportive of the fact that the weather was well past inclement and offered to allow us to rebook the tour for later in the day. I am so grateful we had that opportunity! Our party included 2 adults and 6 children ranging from a toddler to teens and it was perfect for everyone. All of the staff were extremely friendly and we can tell the family that runs the operation takes pride in their work and business.
