An oasis in Alamosa. The deli sandwiches are great & the Starbucks always gets it right. Friendly staff!

I will start off this review being blatantly honest, I hate Walmart with every ounce of my being…read more At home I refuse to shop Walmart but I'm fortune enough to live in a city where other grocery stores stay open past 10PM. In Alamosa this is the go to place after 10PM. When I walked into Walmart there were shopping carts available to me. That in itself is a bonus. The store was clean and organized. I was greeted by THREE store associates while shopping. That is unheard of in Albuquerque. There were registers open and I was checked out within 5 minutes of getting in line. My cashier, Brandy, was efficient, cordial, and aware of other folks waiting in line. She let them know I'll be with you in one moment. Today the Alamosa Walmart gave my customer service I rarely see. Budget cuts and task oriented associates have dampened customer service and I understand why. Everyone else could take some tips from the Alamosa Walmart. Now if Walton wasn't such a turd Walmart might have gained some status in my book. For now I'm going to continue to stick with employers who pay a living wage to all of their associates. However, I will not soon forget this experience.

If I could leave no stars I would. I wanted to buy 3, 100 dollar impacts that are locked up because…read moreof thieves. Pressed the button for help at least 3 times asked some zombie that was putting things away in that department and got a grunt and a head shake. Walmart in Alabama sucks and should just lock the doors and go away.. My name is Nick Gonzales and I say this with truth. Your store is shit and so are your zombies.

While I wasn't blown away by this smallish place, it was a nice store. Not bizarrely expensive. Here's a few items we bought: - Butter pecan ice cream tub $4.59 - Russet potatoes (3-lbs) $1.99 - Bbq sauce $1.59 The lady who checked us out was friendly and funny. Large, "seedless" watermelons were on sale $4.98 each. They and the rest of the produce looked decent. I was able to slake my thirst that warm afternoon with some good bottles sweet tea out of Amarillo, TX, called Panhandle Pure ($1.09). Western Union is available here. There used to be a lady who would sell her homemade tamales here out of her car. I sure wish she would come back!

I couldn't explain it, I think I had my priorities totally wrong (or right, depending on your perspective), because I packed every last can of beer in the house. Food? Who needed food? As a general note, the little town of Antonito is located somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and Jack's is the best or only grocery store, anywhere. What we discovered: - A decent selection of produce - The occasional organic option, like milk and butter - Friendly and slightly spooky employees - More beer, and other adult drinks, there's a connected liquor store - Hunting and fishing licenses and gear - Firewood, nature's beer buddy - A public restroom (campers, rejoice!) - DVD rentals, because of course - Chile roasting, yes, it was Labor Day weekend Also, there's a "Nite Club" across the street. Someday, I want to spend a nite there.
