Dollar General is building stores all over the country, especially in small towns. They generally have high quality merchandise--sometime, brand names you know--and sell it for reasonable prices. That said, it's not a typical dollar store. Things generally don't cost $1.00 and they're not always on the dollar (e.g. 1.00, 2.00, 5.00). I was shopping for drinks during this visit, but I often find a variety of food items that I like and they were the first national retailer I saw to handle Philly's Tastykake brand that I missed so much. Their price on Tide Pods is good. One thing they do is to give you a coupon within the receipt for a future Saturday. You will get something like $5 off of $20 (or more) purchases on that date. Service was friendly and the store, while not a paragon of organization, was generally orderly--better than Walmart. Besides, I have two Dollar General stores in walking distance, which definitely increases their value to me. read more

We were checking out my kids and I 10 year old twins. The cashier asked my daughter to remove what she had in her hoodie to make sure she wasn't stealing from the store. I was very offended especially because we were buying more than 20 dollars worth of items. Won't be coming back. My children and I were so embarrassed. read more

Main Street in Manteca Dollar General store can bring in 10 times more revenue if the shelves are well stocked. some of us by the same stuff over and over every day when it runs out I go somewhere else. A lot of the product animal food are out of stock. read more

I've been going to this location for the past three years overall the employees or cool except for one, ANNA. She has no good customer services skills, she always looks mad and grumpy. She looks like she doesn't want to there. When speaking to her she gives off an attitude that's makes you want to ask the next employee for help. I've been trying to see what Mariah seen on her to hire her but o just don't see how she was hired to work with people with an attitude like the she has. Overall Patti, Darlene, Jose and dude that stock the shelves are A1 top tier. Anna is the reason why I'm giving one star. One bad Apple spoils the bunch. read more

Mariah has horrible customer service. Every time a customer asked her for guidance or a question, she has a rude comment to add. She got upset at me because I didn't enter my number fast enough. To make sure I enter it before she scans the first item next time. Ok, no problem. Another customer comes and asks where the bread is. Her answer: "right in front of your face when you walk in". I saw her interact with other customers and employees and she is extremely rude and unethical. read more

Just came into the store because I needed get a couple things for my apartment. I really needed to go to the bathroom. I was waiting of the side of the register and asked one of the cashier if I was able to get the key for they bathroom and she told me to ask the other lady that was on another register. Again I waited on the side until she wasn't busy and asked her if I could get the bathroom key. She said "we don't let people use the bathroom". And I proceeded to tell her I'm gonna buy something I'm not just gonna use the bathroom. She proceeded to say no. She looked at me up and down as well before telling me no. I will not be returning to this location. read more

Hadn't been into the store in a while because it was pretty bad . Always a mess, no items in stock etc. Well let me tell you that has changed. They got a new manager. I think she said her name is Mariah. Anyway her and her staff are doing an amazing job at fixing this store up and making it a pleasure to shop in! It's looking so clean and nice! I was able to get everything I needed. To say I am impressed with how far the store has come would be an understatement. Not a dollar store. They have a dollar section, but then they have other stuff over a dollar. I would say this place is a cross between a walgreens and walmart. Really clean just that dollar store feel. read more

As I walked in the store to buy a few items I asked an employee where the bathroom was. He looked at me and responded," Bathrooms are for customers only!" LOL I thought he was kidding because I was very polite, nicely dressed, and well-groomed. The cashier looked on in disbelief and apologized over and over for her coworker's obvious ignorance. I was embarrassed for the brand " Dollar Tree" tonight and I will never shop at that particular " Dollar Tree" because there's always prejudice employee that slips through the cracks. read more

Prices are good, but wait times at the register are VERY long. Also, on two separate occasions I've purchased milk there that went bad well within its "good by" date. Ugh! Never again! read more

Love this store! Brand names, varieties, a little but of everything you need. For example they have gardening stuff, hygiene necessities, food/drinks, school supplies..... Anything you can think of! However, this is not the dollar store, meaning everything is not priced at a dollar. But the prices are cheaper than other stores. read more

I received their weekly ad, saw a few items I'd wanted to buy, get there and they're stock was gone! There wasn't anything else I saw worth buying that I could get at Walmart for less. Not impressed. Prefer Dollar Tree for misc items; $0.99 Store in Stockton has a lot more selection of canned goods. read more

Lines are always so long. Very rude employees. Bathrooms are never in working order.

I liked the dollar general before but now I don't. The manager was very rude. I was standing in line and he saw me standing there and I was their for about 10 minute until he finally came to check me out. He was the only one there. He looked at me like was are you here. When I walked in there was no smile just seemed like a unfriendly place. Some of there soda tastes weird like its expired or something. Some products are open and all over the floor. read more

First time i went could not shop because the cc machine was not working and i had no cash so i went and spent my $150 some were else. 2nd time i went in there i was going to shop over $100 but left the store because my three year old needed to use the restroom and the manager refused i understand other people vandalized it but What is my three year old going to do to your bathroom the manager refused to let her use it so i left as my child had an accident in the drive way. I went in the other night and there were no shopping carts available. The lady working there seemed annoyed at me asking about where the carts are. She told me they were all being used at the moment, although the store was nearly empty of shoppers. I told her this can't be right and she snapped back,"It's not like we have a hundred carts here!" With less than 10 shoppers in the entire store, an almost empty parking lot and no lines at the register this made no sense. I can't shop without a cart so I left. I mean really?! read more

This store use to be a great store when that mex guy with tattos wa still working there, i believe his name was Anthony, after he left your hole store went to garbage, atleast when he was there it was clean the lines went by quickly and the customer service was the best. read more
