No one was there to accept them. The dock area was a complete disaster area, strewn with dumped stuff & downed signs. You couldn't even get to the door at the top of the ramp. A woman inside finally came out & mumbled something about everyone going on break at the same time before she helped take the boxes. I thought this might just be a one time issue with the dock. However, I was by there again a couple of days later & the dock was still an accident waiting to happen. It's an admirable concept but too bad it's not better managed. I won't be taking anything there again.

On my first visit, I noticed they had a nice mix of clothing, shoes, glassware, and home décor, so I came back this weekend hoping to browse the clothing racks. I struck out on clothes this time around--not because they didn't have any, just because nothing in my size was quite my style, condition, or price point. That's thrifting, though. You never know what you're going to find, and sometimes the best score is in a completely different aisle. In my case, I walked out with a pair of vintage shoes in excellent condition for only $5, plus several beautiful glass pieces for next to nothing. I'd call that a successful trip! When I drove by on Sunday, they had boxes and boxes of free items out front with people happily digging through them. It was way too hot for me to join the hunt, but once the Texas weather cools off, I definitely will. This feels like one of those thrift stores that's worth stopping into regularly because the inventory is always changing, and you never know what treasure you'll find next.

After looking at some reviews, I do agree, majority of the clothes are leaning more towards the younger audience, but it makes sense because it is located in a college town. The clothes I see in Dallas are more diverse, but leaning more towards the mature side. So, the clothes they have do depend on the location of the Uptown. For this particular location, I think they're pretty good on having clothes that are trendy and up-to-date for college students. The most recent visit I had was very pleasant. They were doing an event for an anniversary and I was welcomed with a coupon at the door which was nice! I ended up a few things including a pair of Aerie Crossover Flowy Shorts for such an amazing price that I couldn't even find looking through Depop and Poshmark. After checking out, I was given a swag bag that had some cute pieces in there and I left with a cookie lol. I love and miss San Marcos so much! This place is also one of the reasons why I enjoy coming back. I remember thrifting in SanMo wasn't always the best specifically for me, but I think this place is guaranteed to have the items you're looking for. I got the impression it's a family owned business (her son was there and other staff may have been family). I'd been dying to try on this adorable red polka-dot dress in the window, and she actually said it was ok. The dressing room is really a large bathroom which was nice and clean, but nowhere to hang the dress. anyways. The damn thing wouldn't fit over my new lat muscles, which was a bummer considering it was only $8. Looked almost brand new and the brand was Papaya (a trendy charlotte rusee-Forever 21 type of place for those not familar). They had a lot of jeans, but I wasn't in the market so I didnt really look through them.Their shoes and accesories were trendy/funky/good condition (always in the market for shoes, come on now). The other clothes seemed hit or miss - more on the miss side. They seemed older/different age group than the other stuff. Anyways, it was worth stopping by, I will definitely cruise through every so often just to see what they get in. The have only been open a week or two so I wonder if they will develop their own style. As is, it's basically a nicer, small salvation army with better than average denim and shoe selection. Don't miss going back into the warehouse area, lots of office/desk type furniture and items. One time they had surplus Civil Defense radiac meters (for Cold War collectors) pretty cheap. Lots of surplus SUV's out front, but most looked pretty used/inop. Might be good if looking for project parts.
