It was mainly geared towards older women. I know I'm supposedly "high risk" according to my OB/GYN, but dang I'm not ready to be these clothes old. The whole store from the outside to the mannequins (see my photo from 11/15/2023) is worn out. Literally! The sweate on said mannequin was falling off and had holes and tear in it! The employees and the security guard seemed nice. I'm glad the hoodies were discounted at 35% off the original price because it wouldn't be worth it to me otherwise. I'm shocked this is the Hobbs' sore, I mean, store.

It is with great concern for your business that I bring this customer complaint to your organization, as it seems that your Department Store Supervision (Denise Woods, Supervisor during my ordeal 11/22/15 6:05 PM) has no problem with showing an utter lack of concern for customer service or resolution as a tactic to ward off customer complaints. I entered the above JC Penney location maybe 15-20 minutes before closing. My wife and I continued shopping without noticing that the store had closed. My wife had about $60.00 of merchandise chosen for purchase. On two occasions I had different employees tell us in a rude manner that the store had closed (10 mins after closing). On the first occasion the employee stated, "we may not 'even' be able to pay for our purchases" (I believe hinting that we should leave the items and vacate the store). On the second occasion an employee felt the need to eavesdrop the conversation my wife and I were having about the ordeal as we walked up to the registers and felt the need to interject a reiteration of the store's closing time. Unbelieveable! I still went ahead and made the purchase but brought up my concerns. The cashiers showed very little concern for my plight, but I made the purchase anyway. The "straw" of the whole situation was that upon trying to exit the store, the doors were locked and not one of the six employees on the store floor came to help me until I asked for the manager. Well, the manager came up to the store-front with the key. I tried to bring up my concern about my treatment in the store and her response was to open the front door and reiterate the stores hours and the fact that they are posted at the front entrance. By this point I was so upset by the continued mistreatment from the staff, which included the management that I asked if I could return my items. Without blinking an eye, the manager ordered one of her employees to execute the transaction, which left me in awe of the customer service strategy I was just witnessing-save face by not caring at all. The ordeal was so upsetting to everyone that one of the employees, ironically enough, told me that if I was going to send a complaint, to inform you that they needed new computers. WOW! This situation could have been defused by a simple apology, as all I wanted was appreciation for being a customer and to be treated courteously. Instead of I got this treatment. Make of it what you will, but it will be a long time before I think about setting foot in any of your stores.

They actually help you when you can't find something. The prices. They're reasonable and you don't need a rewards card to save here. The meat and produce selections. They're fresh and of quality. The store itself. It's clean, well-organized, and has good signage inside. The only thing I ever disliked about Thriftway is the location--not necessarily within the city, but the way it is tucked off in a corner behind Bealls and Walgreens. Each December, an annual canned food drive (Stuff-a-Truck) happens in front of this store. So they definitely support their community and less fortunate citizens. I may be the only one who remembers this, but Thriftway used to be on Dal Paso St. That Thriftway burned to the ground back in '07. I never learned what the cause was or how it happened, but... Per usual, I'm probably asking for too much in life, but I often wish this one was more of a local farmer vendor as opposed to some of the junk they sell. Here's why: 1) they offer online shopping at https://www.familydollar.com. Obviously it's more important to have that availability over fresh food. Okay... 2) This Hobbs, NM, location has cold food items and a slew of canned foods. Mmmk, so why not fresh veggies? 3) Fresh fruit and vegetables are far superior to their processed counterparts. 4) We'd have convenient access to local produce that isn't at the overcrowded, somewhat overrated Albertson's Market and Walmart stores." The employees - when not busy gossiping with their shopper friends - are usually friendly and helpful. The parking lot is private with plentiful spaces even for all the big stupid jacked up trucks that fly down Grimes Street. Took a star away because they don't maintain the parking lot or the premise very well at all. There's always trash and boxes stacked everywhere. Additionally they put expired food on the shelves. I know mac and cheese probably is okay after it is "best by December 2022," but it's been in the box for quite some time already. Also, because while their recent renovation has proved to be a huge benefit, they can't seem to fix the "Tap Pay" aspect of their card payment machines. I am better now but I used to be terrible about needing more sugar, more eggs, or more milk... so a quick errand to this DG would have been easy peasy. Today I found a few items worth purchasing (3.31.2025): Seasoned salt = $2.35 Jiffy extra crunchy peanut butter = $4.95 Honey Buns big pack = $4.50 I did have to wait for the clerk to get to the register for a few minutes as all of the self checkouts were closed. And as soon as she checked me out she was engulfed by her phone. Overall, this is the largest DG I have ever been in. Clean. Mostly organized. Happy last day of March 2025.

I was so excited to learn that the owner of the previous business still owns this building and has really cool stuff still. These are vintage items, not antiques. I'm vintage. Or so I like to tell my kids since I was "borns in the 1900s." Bruh. *face palm* They had cookies & lemonade for us to enjoy while we perused the multiple small rooms of items. She has some women's clothing, jewelry, tumblers, and so much more. Adorable shop! Very affordable prices! Support local businesses. While it may seem like they have quite a bit of inventory, it never fails that they are either completely out or low in stock on certain items. So I resort to Amazon. And let me tell ya' - in this small town that's a love/hate story in and of itself. TIP Almost everything goes on sale at least 40% off at various times each month. If frames aren't on sale 50% off one week, then try the following week. Or just ask an associate. Parking is free & abundant. It's an okay Walmart Supercenter…read more Some days it's good. Never great, but good. Other days it's just terrible. There are transients scattered everywhere. The parking lot confuses out-of-towners. Folks put puppies in the back of trucks here. So sad. In the evenings the migratory birds swarm all of the trees and they are so loud. It's crazy. Let's move into the actual store finally... The place has been an absolute mess and then some. Dirty. Unorganized. Open packages. The carts suck. The shelves are empty or damn near it. The attitudes from the employees equal those of the other patrons. Why is it like this? The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of the low prices. Ample parking during the mid-mornings. And at self-check I can still purchase whiskey, tequila, and beer with the assistance of an employee. It doesn't take more than a minute usually. I have found that it's faster and more efficient to do self-checkout as much as I detest it. That sums up this love-hate relationship.
