The Food 4 Less, of Northern California…read more Was traveling from southern California to Nor Cal. I went here to pick up some basics. I like it, it reminds me of the Food 4 Less stores back home. Take into consideration, if you wanted a Trader Joe, you would drive to Chico. This is Orland, a town of under 10,000 people, so a store this size is ideal. The parking lot and store was clean, I found what I was looking for and I liked that they sold pre-cooked chicken. Overall, a positive shopping experience. I took off one star, because I am spoiled and used to having more options, such as at a Vons, ALbertsons or Trader Joes. Solid store, if comparing it to a Food for Less. some comments complained about prices, I though the prices were lower compared to larger cities, atleast in Southern California, everything is relative. Pros clean well stocked good prices, a bottle of water was $1, in a larger city it would be $3 pre-cooked chicken self check out, I got my shopping done in record time no "charities" standing out front, trying to get money out of you. smaller town, shorter lines, = get out faster Cons Less variety that larger stores bananas looked over-ripped, I suggest a drive to Chico for premium produce.

The woman that took over her cash drawer, excused her comment to the fact that she was new. So new employee means no common sense?

Be sure to let them know you have that are into your phone number and check out attitudes greatly improve customer service is way better than it used to be. I took off one star because I constantly find products that have no pricing and it's super annoying to have to go find someone or go all the way to the front of the store to have them do a price check, especially when grabbing stuff out of the refrigerator or freezer, Also they need someone who's checking the Maintenance. I saw smoke pouring out of the top of the fridge that holds the eggs when I tried to tell an employee, they just looked at me like OK well whatever why are you telling me this? The other thing they could improve on would be removing produce, etc., that has expired or is it going bad? I have constantly gone to grab something found it and handed it to an employee.

I'm extremely disappointed with how I was treated at FoodMaxx in Red Bluff today…read more A couple of weeks ago, I purchased three packages of chicken from this store. I brought them home and immediately put them in my freezer. Over the next couple of days, I noticed a strong odor every time I opened the freezer and eventually realized it was coming from the chicken. I called the store and spoke with the manager. She told me to bring the chicken back for a refund. I explained that I live out of town and it would be a couple of weeks before I would be back in Red Bluff. I also told her I no longer had the receipt. She specifically told me that was fine and that I could return the chicken when I came back. Today, I finally made it back to Red Bluff and brought the three packages with me. I was then told that I could not receive a refund and that I had to exchange them for the same brand. I explained that I had already spoken with the manager and had been told I would receive a refund. I also explained that the store no longer even carried the same brand. I was already planning to do my grocery shopping there and ended up spending approximately $370. I offered to simply have the amount for the chicken deducted from my total. Instead, I was made to wait for quite a while while the situation was handled. The part that really upset me was how I was treated by the employees. A male employee with dark hair and a short beard came over with the chicken and, when I tried to explain what had happened, completely ignored me and spoke only to the cashier, telling her the amounts to deduct. His behavior made me feel as though I was being treated like I was dishonest or trying to do something wrong. The cashier, an older woman with long hair, was also very rude and never acknowledged what I was saying. When she finally rang up the replacement chicken, she slammed the packages down on the counter hard enough that the packaging popped open. I had to rewrap the packages when I got home. I understand that mistakes happen, and I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply expected the store to honor what its own manager had told me and to treat me with basic courtesy. I spent approximately $370 in the store today despite how I was treated, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I have been shopping at FoodMaxx for years, but after today's experience, I will seriously reconsider where I spend my grocery money. The chicken was one problem. The way I was treated when I tried to resolve it was the much bigger problem.
