At first, I experienced a bit of sensory overload with the noises and the variety of cool animals. Interestingly enough, I was soon taken back by how welcoming, warming, comforting, and even calming the pet store is. What was almost immediately evident to me was the amount of children coming in and going out of the pet store with such ease, excitement, and joy. I have seen children ride their bikes to the pet store, walk to the pet store after school, and heard (multiple times) my own high school students rave about the pet store. They are actually the ones who encouraged me to go to the store to purchase an aquarium and fish. Now, I feel drawn to visit the pet store at least once a week; it feels like a therapy session in the best way possible. Simply put - this place is a safe haven for everyone, but especially for the children of our community. Melissa's presence is comparable to that of a fairy god mother. It is so easy to see that she genuinely cares for her animals and her customers. I am so grateful to/for Melissa and all she does for the community by way of Fish Out of Water.

After just losing our Labradoodle and doing a lot of research, I've decided to feed our new puppy, a dry kibble with no chicken, soy or corn. In the past, I have always fed my dogs "Fromm" . Fromm does not make a puppy food without chicken and I refuse to feed my dog "grain free" due to, It is a leading cause of congestive heart failure. I returned my just purchased unopened bag of Fromm puppy food due to it has chicken and other ingredients in it that I decided I don't want to feed my new puppy that I'm getting . When I went to return it, I could not get my money back! Because I paid cash!!!! I was in dis-belief. Like .... WTH cash is king. NOPE! Not to them! If I would've used my debit or credit card, I could've got my money back. I would have loved to exchange it for something else in the store, but they do not have anything in that store for puppies without chicken in it and limited ingredients . They were not even credit it back to my ATM card . I will never shop there again !!!!!! It was only $46.47. That I now have a store credit for. When I asked questions, I couldn't get a clear or knowledgeable answer, which is ridiculous considering how expensive their products are. On top of that, they need to stop constantly trying to upsell customers on products they don't even need. I came in looking for specific things, not to be pressured into spending even more money on unnecessary stuff. If your products are already stupid expensive, the last thing customers want is someone pushing even more products on them. For the prices they charge, I expected employees who actually know their products and customer service that is worth coming back for. Instead, the whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. Definitely wouldn't recommend based on my experience.
