The Food 4 Less, of Northern California. Was traveling from southern California to Nor Cal. I went here to pick up some basics. I like it, it reminds me of the Food 4 Less stores back home. Take into consideration, if you wanted a Trader Joe, you would drive to Chico. This is Orland, a town of under 10,000 people, so a store this size is ideal. The parking lot and store was clean, I found what I was looking for and I liked that they sold pre-cooked chicken. Overall, a positive shopping experience. I took off one star, because I am spoiled and used to having more options, such as at a Vons, ALbertsons or Trader Joes. Solid store, if comparing it to a Food for Less. some comments complained about prices, I though the prices were lower compared to larger cities, atleast in Southern California, everything is relative. Pros clean well stocked good prices, a bottle of water was $1, in a larger city it would be $3 pre-cooked chicken self check out, I got my shopping done in record time no "charities" standing out front, trying to get money out of you. smaller town, shorter lines, = get out faster Cons Less variety that larger stores bananas looked over-ripped, I suggest a drive to Chico for premium produce. read more

A cashier there asked if I was using WIC???? I am not sure why she asked???. I have never been asked that question. She then left in the middle of ringin me ug up, to take her break. The woman that took over her cash drawer, excused her comment to the fact that she was new. So new employee means no common sense? read more

Poor Orland, their home town grocery store isn't representing them well with such a terrible spelling of Save More. Call me uptight, but for some reason the spelling really bothers me. On to the food: meh, it is just shelf life food. Although they carried Silk Nog, which was a pleasant surprise. I love the Silk Nog. Carrying that product is deserving of three stars in itself. read more

I am very disappointed with this store. I work for a business that has been in Orland for 36+ years and have regularly gone in to buy water, supplies for our customer waiting room, birthday cakes for each employee and spent well over $500.00 for a work/retirement barbeque 1 month ago that was gladly accepted without a blink. Never once has paying with a business check been a problem until today 6/14/18 I went in to purchase 2 cases of water and some candy for the customers and was told we are not on the "Approved Business Check Cashing List", the purchase was for a total of $17.10. The cashier was very kind and called someone up to the register I had never seen before and he declined the check and said he was sorry. Great supermarket in the middle of no where. Good prices. I got something for my car camping. Produces were fresh.

It has the basics and some surprises- Mexican staples like carnitas and various cheeses, sweets, and treats. It's not Whole Foods or Safeways but then again their prices are quite competitive- coming from San Francisco, it's actually very cheap. What is a bit disappointing is the vegetable section- not much variety and not very good quality (over refrigerated or old so that it goes bad right away). Hard to believe that it's an agricultural community and the vegetable section isn't more varied (except for the citrus in season). Might be the market- lower income, poorer diets..not sure. read more

Sadly, SavMor has gone down rapidly in the last few years, especially the last few months. I used to do ALL my grocery shipping at SavMor. Now I find I am having to most of it in Chico. Very sad. They used to have friendly employees, a rocking manager, and lots of products. Selection is lacking what it used to, many of the employees do not have time for you, new manager is dismissive and rude, and I hate the fact that there is no personal deli service any more. Too bad. The person who reviewed Sav-Mor as a great place to shop either works there or they are confused. It is the only real grocery store in Orland and they are making the most of the monopoly that they have. Many people feel trapped to shop in Orland because gas prices are so high that it isn't worth it to drive to Chico or Red Bluff unless you have big shopping to do. Many items are priced at twice what they would be at Food Maxx or Win-Co. The selection is terrible and their store brand doesn't even taste that good. I cannot wait until another chain takes advantage of the vacant building where Longs used to be (next to I-5) and gives Sav-Mor and run for their money. A little healthy competition will put them back in their place. The people in Orland are not all in a high income bracket, they should be ashamed with the prices they charge. On a high note, the people that work there are friendly, but I imagine even they shop elsewhere. It is hard to make a min. wage salary stretch when your local generic supermarket is trying to pretend that it is Albertsons. read more

Just got back from the Orland Store. As usual the store is out of the products that I want. Today No Greek Strawberry Yogurt, No Mexican Sausage (longa...don't know how to spell it) no Crystal Geyser Water. The store has discontinued many items that I now go to your competition to get. Mrs. Renfro's salsa, Heinz 57 sauce, Stone ground crackers and one other brand of wafer crackers, and more. The can goods are going more and more to your Best Yet brand and they are NOT the best, I would have quality then price I wish you felt the same. When you run out of a product it seems to take a long time to get that product back in. The store ran out of Foster Farms Brest Tenders and it was over a week before they came in. I bought hamburger and Salmon today both products have a expiration date of 10/14 (tomorrow) They should be fresher then this. The store is always VERY clean, The Employees are always helpful, friendly, and it seems they like their jobs. You never have to wait long at the check out counter, AND the Produce is the best thing this store has to offer. Good Work their. I not coming in anymore your competition is out working you, but I will be in for produce. /the last paragraph is the only reason I am giving this a star. read more
