The store was large and the anchor for Buckner Plaza, the small neighborhood shopping center in which it is located. The visit was quick, since I didn't want to drive after dark in an unfamiliar area. My night driving eyes aren't good after cataract surgery. Hurray!! The store appears to have been remodeled as a part of Food Lion's attempt to compete with the plethora of up scale grocers in Virginia Beach. Aisles were wide and not crowded. They need fans or something if the ac is choosing to not work on any given day!! They had some cute slide shoes and clogs. I love rhinestone and they had a few options, but if you have a foot larger than size 8, you may have a time finding shoes. They normally only send 1 set of shoes in the bigger sizes. The store has food products, body care, household items, pet supplies, and more. The lines are hit or miss though. Sometimes it's busy but others you're going to be waiting a while. I do wish the carts were more reliable. I fought to go left while my cart went right. We just couldn't come to an agreement, so I put it back!! Lol. All in all Roses is the budget friendly version of Ross or similar stores like that. The prices are reasonable and affordable. The parking lot is spacious, but can get a little packed at times. They have a wonderful selection and we were able to find just about everything we needed. Oddly enough, they don't carry seaweed salad, but we found all of the other ingredients on our list and, as usual, discovered a few things that weren't on the list. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. One thing we particularly enjoyed was that they weren't afraid to share their own personal preferences and recommendations. There's something refreshing about asking an employee what they like and getting a genuine answer rather than a sales pitch. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We're still hoping Trader Joe's will eventually open a location in Chesapeake. Until then, the drive to Pembroke is well worth the effort.

Yes, the inventory varies and sometimes you won't always find the same product every time. I will buy more than one of a product if I see it to stock up on it. The shower gels are always a bargain. I buy my dog her treats and poop bags here. I always find some foodie item for my kitchen. I should just way I always find something lol.
