This location is not terribly big, but it's well stocked. The staff at the sub counter were very courteous and prepared exactly what we wanted. The sub line can get a little long for the lunch rush so beware. I got a hot honey chicken tender sub and my wife got a tenders sub salad. The sub salad is a LOT of food for the price. I got a wrap myself. I grabbed a couple of cookies from the bakery too. This is a lovely, quiet Publix location.

The produce is high quality here, not to mention, the sushi bar is great, the subs are the best, and they have a Starbucks in the store. The store is well staffed and you can always find someone to help you find an item. It is not the cheapest grocery store around, but they have tons of sales every week. Today my checker Jayla was extremely rude. This is not the first time I have been treated poorly by Jayla. She was not commutative when I ask her a question about an open bag of ice cream cups. She was not commutative when I told her my husband would bag. When I told her I would "round up" my bill, she again was non commutative. At the end of my visit she handed me my receipt without eye contact in fact she turned her head to the side and looked over her shoulder (no thank you or anything). Most of the checkers in this store are lovely people who go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. As I said, this is not my first experience with her behavior. Perhaps she needs better training?

Very busy place as it is nearest to the beach and at a busy intersection, so the parking lot can be crowded also. The Deets: The nearest big chain grocery store in the Holden Beach area is this Food Lion, back on the mainland in the shopping center at the first stoplight after coming back over the bridge from the beach (same on as Walgreens). The parking lot is usually pretty packed as this store/shopping center is a pretty busy one. The grocery store itself is pretty clean and has a good layout, but again usually pretty busy with customers. The grocery prices are pretty acceptable for a beach area and of course their Food Lion MVP cards for special prices are useable here. There is a pretty good selection of all grocery items, no visible lacking areas noted so far. There is a hot food bar available if you want to use for a premade meal to take home. The beer cooler is towards the front to the left as you walk in, pretty handy in a beach area obviously. There are staffed checkout lines as well as self checkout kiosks, and the self checkout area line actually moves pretty fast as well staff comes quickly when needed/screen signals them. This beach area Food Lion gets the job done and I have to say it's not bad compared to most beach area grocery stores as well as a lot of Food Lion stores in general.

I find that you offer quality products at fair prices, and overall, I have been very satisfied with the store. One suggestion I would make is to simplify the discount process. Having standard discounts, paper coupons, and electronic coupons can sometimes make it unnecessarily complicated for customers to determine which discounts apply and how to get the best price. A simpler, more consistent discount system would be much easier and less frustrating for shoppers. My main concern today, however, was the customer service I experienced. At the deli counter, the gentleman assisting me appeared very unhappy and was not particularly friendly. After my order was completed, I thanked him and wished him a wonderful day. In return, I received only a displeased look. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but interactions like this can make a customer feel unwelcome. If someone is unhappy in a customer-facing position, perhaps management should take the opportunity to check in with them and see if there is anything that can be done. I also experienced an unpleasant interaction at checkout. I began bagging my groceries because I was simply trying to help keep things moving. I was told not to do so in a rather unpleasant tone. I had no intention of interfering--I was only trying to be helpful. Food Lion is a nice store, and I genuinely enjoy shopping there. That is why it is disappointing when interactions with employees leave a customer with an unpleasant experience. I hope management will take this feedback in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. Well we were on the island for a day and decided to see if it was still there. We drove up and there was a window boarded up and it looked deserted. Upon a second look and one car in the parking lot we saw it was open and decided to hop in and give them some love. We were greeted warmly by a cashier donning a mask, which I was happy to see. We went up and down all the aisles of this old school grocery store. They have just about anything you'd need, including for the beach. We saw the cutest seashell nightlight with a seahorse etched on it and had to have it. Not a big purchase, but at least some support. When this crazy pandemic clears and we feel we can safely stay a few days this will be our go to for any needed groceries.

The cashier still allowed me to purchase my items even though I didn't have a membership and kindly encouraged me to register through the app. She was so sweet, and the manager came over to assist her during the process. They both were incredibly helpful and welcoming. I truly appreciate the outstanding customer service, the quality fresh ready made food, and the beautiful Valentine's display. The checkout lady was competent. She even thanked me for bringing my recycling bags, asked me how my visit was and invited me to come back to the store. The bagger was pleasant.
