I'm a big fan of Publix grocery store. I absolutely love them, but this has gotta be the friendliest Publix store on the planet. My experience in the store was just so pleasant. The checkout lady was competent. She even thanked me for bringing my recycling bags, asked me how my visit was and invited me to come back to the store. The bagger was pleasant. He happily bagged my items and as I exited, I believe it was a manager, smiled and bade me farewell. Two thumbs up. This is a model class in grocery store customer service. I will be back. read more

Here at OI on vacation and we wanted to get deli sandwiches to bring to the beach. We did have a Publix really close to us so we thought we'd get some from here (we usually like to shop local but it's a Sunday and many places are closed) Now, I'm not a huge sandwich person as I'm a picky eater so I was kinda hesitant but it was really good. The bread was very fresh and soft which is usually a deal breaker if it's hard and crunchy. I liked that you could make your own sandwich as I sub a lot of things usually and it was ready in about 25 minutes. Would recommend then for sandwiches if you are needing something fast! Bottom line: The Publix location in OIB is a clean, nice, well stocked, good sized, and organized grocery store. Of note is a pretty large wine selection for a grocery store. Competitively priced for the area and no service speedbumps experienced yet here. The Deets: This Publix is the one of the newest grocery stores in the Ocean Isle Beach area, and the one nearest to the island at this time. It's a very nice and clean store, as most Publix locations usually are, and spacious with plenty to offer. The layout is conducive to finding things you need in a fairly reasonable amount of time and not confusing to me. They offer the usual stations such as bakery, deli, etc. but they do not offer a seafood market (not that it is necessary as there are some around OIB). Their wine section is pretty extensive for a grocery store (see pic). I found the grocery prices to be comparatively more reasonable here for the most part, definitely something to be noted. I have not witnessed or experienced any service hiccups along any trips here. This Publix is a welcomed addition the OIB vicinity, and glad it offers some competition for the grocery business in the area. read more

I got a boars head ultimate sub last weekend and it was great. Decided to get one today and it was mehhh. I order ahead so it's ready when I get there. Had to grab a few items so did that expecting my sub to be waiting for me and the girl didn't even see the ticket until I asked for it 10 min after the designated time. No problem I understand they are busy in the morning preparing. My issue is she didn't read the ticket. Asked for lettuce and tomato and there were no tomatoes plus barely any meat on it. I'll try it again but management should consider consistency. I don't want to roll the dice when I order. read more

Let's start off by saying this is very nice store overall I'm very happy with it. But the one thing I can no longer buy there is lean ground beef. I've never seen so much fat in the package of lean ground beef in my entire life and this hasn't happened once it's happened multiple times there is no way this is 93% lean me. Publix has come to Ocean Isle Beach in Brunswick County, North Carolina! The grand opening was Wednesday, May 2nd, and the store and parking lot were packed with expectant shoppers and Publix employees. Having recently moved to Holden Beach from Atlanta, I'm overjoyed to have Publix within a half-hour drive from home. Sure, the Food Lion is closer, but the selection and prices and customer service at Publix are second to none. Now I can get my Udi's gluten free french baguettes without having to stock up on return trips to Atlanta. They carry a great selection of GF breads in frozen foods, and an eight-foot section at the back of the snacks aisle boasts a plethora of GF goodies not found in too many of the existing local stores. Added bonus for my husband -- he can now indulge in his sub cravings. He's partial to the Italian. If you've never been to a Publix, their deli is the best, from the signature sandwiches and prepared foods to the large selection of Boar's Head meats and cheeses. The wine section is promising as well, large and varied, with price ranges to suit anyone's budget. And of course, if there's something you want and you don't see, please ask. Publix will be happy to check if they can order it for you. We were there on opening day, and they were giving away free Publix totes at checkout. They also had their employees ferrying customer's carts out to their cars, and then presenting a coupon good for a free half gallon of Publix ice cream on a return trip. Great addition to Ocean Isle!! My parents live just inside the town of Shallotte on the Ocean Isle side so it is a 6 min drive to the new Publix. We visit every few months and Publix is our go-to as the selection is amazing, its SO clean/organized and most importantly, the service is outstanding... just friendly, helpful, etc. Makes grocery shopping a experience. SIDENOTE- The parking lot (beautiful palm trees and landscaping) is kind of a maze in regards to one-ways so go slow when entering/exiting. read more

I Love Publix! I have been a fan of this chain since leaving in Florida. We do not have them in Michigan so I always look forward to my visits to this grocery store. I work at Ashley Homestore in Shallotte and we needed to order lunch short notice for all of our employees today for the holiday. I called the deli dept and ordered a cold cut platter for 30 people. Went here one early morning only a few shoppers which made me happy due to covid. Lots of shelves have missing items but I am sure this is due to covid because all the groceries in this area are like that. Very friendly staff, every staff that I walked by no matter what they were doing said good morning. I felt like I was in an old time mom and pop grocery store w/proper customer service. They have self service checkout, when I got to the self serve checkout one of the ladies at regular checkout said she could take me at number 5, nice, but as I told her, I like doing it myself. Finally, we have a quality grocery store in the southern end of Brunswick county NC. The staff at this store is excellent. They are caring, efficient and very consistent. The interior and exterior of this facility is world class. The shelves are very well stocked with a wonderful selection of products from around the globe. Their produce department is very well stocked with a good selection of fresh produce, flowers and plants. Their meat department is awesome...very well stocked with a great selection of meats and seafood. The staff in the meat department are very knowledgeable and like other staff of this organisation go out of their way to be helpful. Their selection of beers and wines are varied and superb, other stores pale in comparison. The staff at the checkouts are efficient and oh so friendly. There is no hassle with a rewards card to qualify for their buy one get one free specials and other store promotions! The checkout is quick and easy. Heck, they even take your groceries to your car. Their ultimate sub at the deli is super the best.Can get half size,with ham,turkey,and roast beef.They fix it fresh while you wait.The bread is so yummy,you can also have the bread heat up...with mayonnaise,mustard,lettuce,tomato,onion,cucumber,spinach....Make sure you ask for Boardhead deli dressing over the top.....The best ever...under $6.00. Please don't use the catering services at this store. I was having a luncheon for 80 people and went to the store more then 3 weeks in advance to plac my order. I had to read the list to the person taking the order as he couldn't read my cursive order. I then had him read it back, check the date for pick up (as they no longer deliver) and give me a total. He couldn't give me a total because he couldn't find the price of one item. He stated someone would call me with the total. No one ever called. A week before my event I went back to the store to confirm my order. The same person brought out my order form and said everything was set and would be ready before 11 on the event day. On the morning of the event my husband went to pick up the order at 10:30 and was told they had no order for that day. The subsequently found the order with their Thanksgiving orders. After speaking to the manager of the department the staff hurridly put together an order, which had a lot of different items I didn't order and a lot of what I wanted was not there. They gave me a discount but that didn't help as I had 80 people waiting for the food. It finally arrived a half an hour late. Very dissatisified with their service. Also if you buy groceries there you can have them delivered but they won't deliver a $600 catering order. Makes no sense to me. read more
