So Friday night (Aug. 25, 2017) I went to this store to get some items for my neighbors who are gracious enough to let me use their washer and dryer. I only had two items. I went to the front and saw a redhead girl, probably 21, walking to a register that was open, so I went to that register. I said hi and handed her my items. Nothing. I said something else. Nothing. Not a word. Didn't even look at me at all. Which, fine, okay, I can brush off, I've dealt with cold people before. But then, as soon as I was done, she says to the lady behind me, "Hi, how are you doing?" I felt so....invisible. So I said as I walked away, "Okay, don't say anything to me," because I know customer service is hard, trust me, but ignoring one customer and being nice to another is incredibly rude and unprofessional - and I get snark thrown at me for a living, and I still try to be kind or at least acknowledge everyone. She should do the same. So I stood there and gave her a scowl until she looked up at me (finally! for the first time!) and then left. AND then I found when I got home I'd left a bag with an item in it. She had ample opportunity to come out really quick and hand it to me, but did not even try - I was parked pretty decently away, so I would've seen her coming to try and give me the bag. I don't know if it's because I'm young and the woman behind me was older, or what the prejudice was, but it was not a good experience and really truly made me sad, as I already struggle with feeling invisible in every day life. I can't even get someone to notice me who's PAID to do so. read more
