This is an incredible place to go for local events, and to step away into nature. The river walk…read moreitself is beautiful and quiet, and the park offers a wonderful playground and event space. If you live anywhere in this area and haven't been here, you should go immediately.

I was looking for a place for my daughter to get the energy out and, with good reviews, headed toward Riverwalk Park. It just so happened to be their Christmas market and fair - with face painting, vendors, special treats and games. My little one could have cared less about the aforementioned happenings. She cares about playgrounds and this park had one of the best we've seen. It was crawling with kids, so even better for entertainment! She played for hours. There was plenty of space, nooks and crannies for kids to run and do their own thing. The equipment all looked in good repair and the park was very clean. Everything is surrounded by mature trees so the playground was shaded during our visit. As lunch approached, we walked over to the water for some calm & relaxation. There are a couple of boat ramps, though I believe I was there at low-tide as one looked inaccessible. There were also a couple of swings to sit and look out over the water. I noted a walking trail as we were leaving and would certainly return to see the rest of the park. I was very impressed with my first visit here.

I found them at a Farmer's Market called Biggers Market! This place has everything! When I say, everything, I mean it! I never knew there was a thing called strawberry onions. Like, onions grown near and in strawberry fields! Super cool! I actually visited this place 3 times while in town for 7 days. By my second and third visit, the cashier recognized me and thought I was a local. I wish!! I told her that I'd be back because they had great nuts! Lol.. she thought that was funny! The ambiance gives happy workers and a happy community that knows they can bring the kids and dogs, have a few local brews on the weekend, get a great pick from fresh veggies, to fresh seafood, dips, fresh breads and jams, and anything else you may be looking for! This place is winning! I WILL be back!!

I didn't go in that one it was pretty crowded but lot of people at picnic tables enjoying the food.. they had samples of hot apple cider which was soo good! They had a variety of ciders.. strawberry , peace, apple , blackberry! And a booth to get coffee from hidden grounds downtown, a seafood market, and of course produce and gifts.. they had a nice section of baked goods- muffins and different breads! even sold their branded merchandise. You could even get a beer to drink with meal! Very cool spot wanted to stay longer but with Christmas holiday it was super busy but I recommend going! Very family oriented.. today it was cool out and they had fire towers outside to keep you warm.. lots of Christmas tree selling fast.. they bag for you too..

Who out there likes Christmas? What if I said you could experience Christmas-like joy every…read moreWednesday? We found out you can, right here in Wilmington, by signing up for a new local produce delivery service called The Produce Box. We signed up after skyrocketing bills at Tidal Creek had us reevaluating our grocery budget. Our friends in Raleigh have been doing this for a while and I guess it is a service catching on across the country....glad to see something as cool as this in Wilmington. What is it, you ask? $22 a week and you get a good size box of locally grown, farm fresh produce to your DOOR. Yes, right to your front step. Essentially, its the same stuff at the local farmers market, but delivered. We are simply amazed and excited each week when our box comes...to top it off, they throw in samples of maple butter, bbq, honey, etc and you get a friendly note from farmers and produce box coordinators with recipes and what is going on in their world. Financially, we did the math and you'd have to atleast spend $40-50 a week depending on the produce for the same price. Buying direct from farmers really does make sense.... Nothing we've done so far in Wilmington has made us feel so connected to the community as a whole. No subscription, cancel anytime and if you are on vacation you just login and "skip a week" Real easy. After doing this for about 6 weeks, we've seen our grocery budget get back to normal (probably less) and you really feel like you are part of something special going on.... Here are the boxes for this week (they change each week depending on what is in season and what is fresh) - and, they offer "stock up" options like if you want some cucumbers for pickling. Just check out the site, you'll see.... Box A 6 ears of corn Blueberries(one pint) 3-4 red tomatoes Sweet Potatoes or New Potatoes Cucumbers Squash/zucchini Box B 6 ears of corn Blueberries 2-3 red tomatoes 1-2 Green tomatoes Squash Variety: includes papaya squash, regular and golden zucchini Cucumbers Box C (FARMERS CHOICE BOX) 6 ears of corn Blueberries Beans (either green beans, was or pole beans) The rest is FARM choice....

I am like a little kid waiting for my box full of fresh goodness to arrive every week. I've never had anything bad. If it's something I don't like, I simply trade it like lunch with a coworker! I made apple pie last week from the apples and OMG it was amazing!!! I'm a pie baker and in my 20 years of baking, I've never had better quality apples. The squash was incredible, I've made ravioli and bisque that rivals anything you'll find in a restaurant. Plus the "samples" new stuff that you get to try for free! As a fruit and veggie lover, the Produce Box is a great value, high quality and nutritionally top notch! Sign up, you won't regret it!
