I was craving boiled peanuts and kept asking the locals I ran into about where to find boiled peanuts. 98.2% of them had no clue what I was even referring to. I found them at a Farmer's Market called Biggers Market! This place has everything! When I say, everything, I mean it! I never knew there was a thing called strawberry onions. Like, onions grown near and in strawberry fields! Super cool! I actually visited this place 3 times while in town for 7 days. By my second and third visit, the cashier recognized me and thought I was a local. I wish!! I told her that I'd be back because they had great nuts! Lol.. she thought that was funny! The ambiance gives happy workers and a happy community that knows they can bring the kids and dogs, have a few local brews on the weekend, get a great pick from fresh veggies, to fresh seafood, dips, fresh breads and jams, and anything else you may be looking for! Great variety of produce, meats and plants. Loved listening to live music while I was walking around. Everyone working was very friendly.

I love this place.. lots to see and they have it all.. they have a kitchen with food to purchase.. I didn't go in that one it was pretty crowded but lot of people at picnic tables enjoying the food.. they had samples of hot apple cider which was soo good! They had a variety of ciders.. strawberry , peace, apple , blackberry! And a booth to get coffee from hidden grounds downtown, a seafood market, and of course produce and gifts.. they had a nice section of baked goods- muffins and different breads! even sold their branded merchandise. You could even get a beer to drink with meal! Very cool spot wanted to stay longer but with Christmas holiday it was super busy but I recommend going! They have great veggies and unique items to buy. They make take and bake meals to go, have cuts of meats to purchase and other items in the freezer section. They have a Cafe where.you walking and order food in a separate building , and ice cream. I got a 1 scoop ice cream in a cup ($4.00) and I have to say it was the smallest scoop of ice cream ive ever gotten anywhere. Kind of disappointing at such a small scoop. I will say, it was very good ice cream. Service here is great, and the ambiance makes you want to sit around for awhile. read more

My friend lives around the corner from Biggers so we decided to walk off some Thanksgiving food. This market has a little bit of everything, from local produce, meat and goods to pre-packaged sauces, nuts, candy and more. They have a bar which I'm told is only open on the weekends. Fortunately the guy at the counter turned the propane heater on for us as it was chilly and windy. There are picnic tables and large Adirondack chairs to can rest at while sipping your drink. All the employees handling the Christmas tree area were polite and offered to help us if needed (we were simply browsing). You will pay more for a tree there than at a Lowe's or Home Depot. The largest tree on the lot was an astounding $500. For an extra fee you can have it delivered to your home. read more

I have an addiction to boiled peanuts and started going there for that reason. The first time I went they were good. The next time I went there they were very undercooked, very firm. To be fair I went back and got more. They were even worse. I decided to put them in salt water and boil them some more and ended up cooking them for over eight hours. They were better but not done. I've visited both the Carolina beach (I guess monkey junction area) and the ogdon markets. North offered really great selection of both fresh and dried fruits/vegetables. I also bought preserves and some pickled peaches (my personal favorite). Staff was very welcoming at both locations. They do not offer a chipping station where they chop fresh fruit into containers which is what I was seeking. So my referral there was incorrect in sharing that BUT I did not leave unhappy with having bought a plethora of produce. They also offer meats, cheeses and other goodies. I also learned they deliver to your home which was fantastic too. Easy to find, easy to park, easy to work with. Highly recommend. read more

I cannot have enough good things about this place. I do want to say that you need to come early if you want to get the most products in stock. They go quickly. The local meats are so delicious and you can not beat the local salsas. Everyone that works there is so nice and today I bought purple asparagus which I can't wait to try. I purchased white corn in the husk 3 times in the last month. One time a few of the corn had mold, another time the corn was totally tasteless (not sweet) and my most recent visit it tasted sour although the kernels looked good. When their corn is good, it's the best I've had. The multi-colored corn is always good. There string beans are always questionable. The open air and ambiance of the place is great. And in their various refrigerated areas they have diverse products. However their produce that is on the pricey side, you can do much better at Fresh Market or some of our local grocery stores (not Publix). And almost everything else is overpriced which is fine if the quality is there. In short I won't be going back even though it's a cool environment. read more

We bought produce on Sunday morning. By Wednesday morning (3-days) both the red pepper, and green pepper turned bad. The "fresh" blueberries needed to be used in my blueberry pie the very next day, or needed to be tossed. Attached is the photo of my receipt, and the bad red pepper. Last weekend my Mom and I checked out Biggers while she was visiting since my neighbor recommended it for all local goodies. An open aired market, upon arrival, we walked up to a relaxing crowd of people lounging in Adirondack chairs sitting in the sun listening to live music coming from another end of the market. If hungry, an interesting looking food truck was parked at one end of the market. We strolled rows of local produce, looked at shelves of various local sauces, dips, spice mixes, baked goods, honey, and perused several coolers of wines, cheeses, and frozen desserts. We decided on the big, homemade coffee cake to enjoy at future breakfasts. I decided on this little yummy looking peanut butter cookie chocolate ice cream sandwich for a treat later that night after such a hot day. Not too sweet or rich, both were absolutely delicious! And I had plenty of coffee cake leftover to enjoy the rest of the week. Not too shabby for a Sunday drop in Biggers Market! read more

We went to the market to stock up on produce. As our first time at the market we were impressed! When we arrived there was live music playing, people enjoying beer at the tables and people shopping. It was such a cool vibe. We stocked up on the produce we came for and so much more. They sold local seafood as well as cheese, bread, boiled peanuts, clothing and other meats. They had a small beer garden and coolers with beer and other beverages, not to mention the plants! Everything was such a reasonable price and great quality! The staff were attentive and continued to ask if he had questions.. 5 stars!!! read more

We were excited to visit this market because we had heard good things about it. It was a very small market, but had some nice items. One of the things we went for were tomatoes and boiled peanuts. The tomatoes were completely tasteless and we could not purchase the peanuts because the only receptacle to put them in was a plastic bag. Steaming hot peanuts in a plastic bag. No thank you. We will visit again because they had beer and music, but it was underwhelming. read more

There's no longer parking because all the drinkers take up the spots. It's not an enjoyable shopping experience when you have a bunch of drunk people meandering without a purpose. They also carry eggs, cheese, beer, bread, nuts, etc. In addition, you can buy fresh fish or plants. Everyone is friendly and extremely helpful. They have a stage, picnic benches and there's often a food truck on site. This has become my Saturday morning outing since I discovered it a few months ago.
