Last Saturday, I stopped by this Dollarama store after I had completed grocery shopping at Fresh Co…read moreacross from it. I created a new listing on Yelp. I checked in. I uploaded photos later. Yelp moderators changed that listing from 20 Leslie Street in Toronto to 17215 Leslie Street in Newmarket. It was completely wrong. I did not check in at Fresh Co in Toronto, then drove 29 km north to the Dollarama that Yelp says is where I had shopped, and then I drove down roughly 29 km to the Beaches to enjoy a snack and a drink from Country Style Donuts. I made changes to the erroneous listing for the Newmarket loctionl to switch it back to 20 Leslie Street. Yelp won't budge with any changes. Two words: highly annoying. So, here I am, creating a new listing again, uploading my photos again, creating my tip again, and now, writing a review to voice my frustration along with the actual review of this Dollarama. It hasn't been the first time that Yelp moderators missed the mark with a business listing. It happened to me when I created a Starbucks listing on Yelp for a downtown location a few years. Yelp moderators changed it to a location in London, ON. I'd like to be a moderator for local places. I'd get things right. I wish I knew where to sign up. Thanks for reading along. Let's move on to my review... I needed liquid hand soap. I like getting it at discount stores. They are effective for the price that I am paying for the product. The parking spots at this Dollarama is in the double digits. I had no problem backing into a parking spot and heading in. I walked in and a man on a mobility scooter was there. This store has a short staircase. There's also a lift with a phone number. You call the number to have somebody work the lift. I am assuming that he was waiting to use it. This store had the usual layout that you'd expect from Dollarama. I had no problems locating the liquid hand soap section. I got a jug. I was happy. The beauty section was decent. I normally don't see glass nail files at dollar stores. This one had a set of three. I like them because you can go back and forth filing your nail down. There is less nail breakage or splitting using a glass one than a stainless steel one. The shower puffs section was also impressive. Puffs on handles. Ice cream cone puffs. Regular puffy puffs. There was a ton of variety. I got a box of Q-Tips. I don't know whether they are horrible yet. We'll see when I get around to using them. I liked the food aisle. I ended up getting a jar of spaghetti with meat sauce and a package of spaghetti. The snack aisle was great. It had everything that I liked, from cookies and chips, to popcorn and dried fruit. I got a cheerful woman at the checkout counter. She asked if I needed a bag. I didn't bring one, but I was good without one. I paid for my items with a credit card. I tapped and the transaction was done. I thanked the woman, grabbed my items, and headed to my car. I then bagged them and drove off. I liked shopping here. I pass by this store often when I am driving along Eastern Avenue. It was nice dropping by to check it out. Here's hoping that this Dollarama listing isn't altered to another weird location. It would be helpful to leave it be, so that others know about how cool this place is in Leslieville, in Toronto. (386)

My first visit was on a Monday long weekend, I scored some pretty good deals like a plant stand, another baby item for a baby shower and acrylic stands, probably each valued at $40-$50+ for only $11 bucks each. It got me hooked. I went back this weekend and didn't see anything I particularly wanted. The only tricky thing is everything is in boxes/packages so you have to open it up front with the staff. I thought I got all the pieces of my plant stand from my last visit but turns out it was missing a couple of tubes that I didn't notice until I constructed it at home. So even if it's nice and sealed it's important to check all the pieces are there. These are some return and overstock packages so likely there are some deficiencies that you should double check. The acrylic stands also have a bit of crack along the corners. All in all still usable even despite some deficiencies. I also spotted a gold light fixture this time for only $15. I didn't pick up but definitely there are deals to be had there. With locations across the GTA, drop by and see if you find something useful closer to you.

Even if most dollar stores aren't strictly selling all items…read morefor a dollar, it's a bit of a stretch to call this place one as it is noticeably more than those in price. However, they also seem to be selling much nicer products, and in a much nicer atmosphere (i.e. clean, well lit, well laid-out, well staffed, etc...). And overall, items are still generally low-cost. It's difficult to try and describe the place. A general way to describe it is to try to think of the various, most non-decorative, items they sell at Ikea and it gives you a bit of an idea. Most items seemed to be made by (or made for) Miniso. I don't have enough experience to speak to the quality of most items, but given their reputation, it probably speaks to higher quality and with less chance of "maybe this will break after the third use" you get with dollar stores. They just sell so much stuff here. Clothing, makeup, electronics and lots of toys. The toys were pretty cool - often educational, and certainly better than the happy meal grade quality you'd expect at other dollar stores. And a lot of the items still are pretty cheap. We came since we were looking for soft measuring tape. They didn't sell it individually, but they had it in a sewing kit which included a bunch of thread and needles all for only $2. I can't speak to whether this compares to ones found in Japan, but it's quite unique within the market this location is located in and worth at least checking out for sure. Brampton LOVES dollar stores, so there should be room for one that at least elevates the scene, even if by a little.

Summary: Glamorised Dollarama…read more If you're directly IN the mall, check it out. Otherwise, skip it altogether! There were some attractive racks (tech stuff), but a good chunk of the merchandise (re: junk jewelry, caps, hats, kitchen wares) reminded me that it's a $5-store IRL. Majority of the smaller items, especially the cheap make-up, were priced between $2.99 - $5. Power Banks and larger items were obviously more expensive. Some of the prices were decent, but others are actually more expensive than Winners/Homesense/Marshalls. Other than the couple of Moomin-printed items, there was not really anything else that you can't find elsewhere. Miniso is presented in a nicer way than Dollarama with better lighting, shelving/hardware, and convenient especially the travel bottles, beauty supplies, housed all in one store. I cannot confirm, but based on the other review, all sales are final. And this isn't a good policy. I'd rather pay the same price and buy from a TJX-store ESPECIALLY if I'm purchasing tech (headphones, batteries) items.
