This review is long overdue for our visit back in November of 2024. I was looking up Nduja recipe…read moreand reminded myself this was the place that initiated my love for Nduja sauce. American/Aussie owned bakery brunch spot by the river, such a cute little eatery. We loved our visit and though it's definitely more of a touristy spot, as most customers spoke English, the food was delicious to forgo the tourist trappy vibes. We shared a plate and added some items as we didn't want to get too stuffed on our first day of Florence. We had the Nduja Eggs plate with bacon and avocado added. Nduja is a spicy Calabrian pepper spreadable pork sauce, and oh boy was it so flavorful. If I remembered correctly, Melaleuca spread this sauce on top of a fried bread and eggs. I don't see it on the menu at the moment and it's probably a rotatable dish... but it definitely kicked started my hunt for the sauce. Since this is a spreadable pork, it's not something I could bring back to the US but I was able to find it online back home. The service was amazing and the beverages were delicious. Like many Italian places, the dining room is small and bathroom is a single small room that might require a small wait if they're busy. Didn't get to try their baked goods this last time, but definitely on our list to go back for more when we're back to Florence for a visit.

The charcuterie board was big enough to share with 3 but also depends of how much you eat. lol portions tend to be smaller in Italy. However, the sandwich was a nice size. All the cold cuts were fresh and taste was another level. A nice list of wine selection as well.

The staff was knowledgeable on all the different meats and cheeses available and were able to make recommendations based on what you prefer. We ordered a beautiful looking cheeseboard that had a variety of different hard cheeses along with different meats. The presentation was beautiful and we very much enjoyed the entire thing. It is very cool to see the different meat hanging from the ceiling in addition to the wine bottles and the cool ambience that they created in the small location. There are a handful of seats available and then there's even a back room with a few more tables to accommodate a few more people. From a price point perspective, it wasn't too bad, especially if you're swinging in for a snack and a quick glass of wine or a beer.

There is plenty of outdoor sidewalk sitting but it's a warm day. Since I didn't have much of an appetite, I ordered the thick tomato soup and bread. We also had a fettuccine with bolognese. When the food arrived, I got a bowl of thick tomato paste. So thick that I wasn't sure if it's my order. After some confirmation from the waiter, it was my lunch. I'd expect a soup base but this is more like a paste texture. The taste is simple, strong tomato aroma with simple seasoning. I'm thinking the bread is also mixed in the paste. Overall, it was an interesting soup experience. The fettuccine was top notch. Good pasta texture and we like it that it's not too salty. A good restaurant to visit if you are in the area.

I ended up getting spaghetti carbonara and a glass of local white wine. Both were quite good with the carbonara made à la Roma style.
