Working at Ithaca college last summer we found Dolce Delight and realized by our second visit how far superior it was to any other breakfast/lunch place in the immediate area- and we have tried more than a handful. The menu at Dolce is plentiful though you can guarantee that each item will be or has been made by hand with fresh ingredients. Ive been going here for a few years now and Im a big fan of many of their sandwiches like The Joey and The moose but I must say the quality and service has never been consistent. The line can be dreadful and not worth the wait and the quality of employees is on and off as well. The coffee is ok at best the last two times Ive gone it was cold my guess its because they keep it in the catering thermos's. The pastries are good but not always some days better than others I definitely wouldn't make this my go to place for pastries and thing unless it was a good day. The lunches are good as well but they definitely lean on the skimpy side for what your paying for it. I particularly like the BLT Delight. The only good smoothie that actually uses fresh ingredients is the Green Dream. The others are basically smoothie drinks you but at the super market but they add ice to them. Today when getting food I was greeted with a "what can I get you" in a very "what do you want" manner. I ordered a moose and literally got a few potatoes and an egg thrown on an english muffin. This sandwich normally has 2 eggs and bacon as well. What a waste of my money and lack of quality in the food and employees. They have certainly gone down hill in recent days but it is always nice to get a good sandwich there when its actually good. read more

The bagels are way better than CTB. Soft, not chewy. If they were just a little more huge they'd be comparable to NYC, but they're a good size. The food in general is great quality. The coffee is fine and it's nice they have unsweetened soy milk for lactose intolerant folk who don't like sugar with theirs. The staff are almost all very pleasant, though I've taken to adding a small tip and waiting for my food before tipping generously. About 5-10 min wait time depending on what you got and how busy it is. read more

She has been like a mother to me. As an employee, it was extremely notable that she worked WITH us, not ABOVE us. She does what she does because she's extremely passionate about it, and you can taste her passion in the delicious pies and cookies and sandwiches that Dolce makes. You won't get 5 star meals from a fancy restaurant, but you can expect to feel like you're cozy at home. Love love love all the food at the shop and the morals behind it. Our first visit to Ithaca. This place was near our hotel and we like supporting small, family-run businesses so stopped in for breakfast. So glad we did. Tons of menu options and lot's of home made goodies (including candy, muffins, etc.). My wife and I were just looking for bagel sandwiches and they were tremendous. But they had so many other choices. Nice, quaint place with pleasant, warm and quick service. If I have a complaint it's minor - they could use a few more tables and chairs (tho not sure where they would put them) and parking might be challenging on a really busy (it wasn't for us but we were there on a late Wednesday morning - probably not a peak time). I go to Dolce Delight for a breakfast sandwich or quiche and smoothie every time I have the pleasure of being in Ithaca, and I have never been disappointed. The menu changes with the season so there is always something new, but I love the Vegie Delight and the lavender smoothie in the summertime. When when I can't be there, my daughter brings me baked goods from Dolce when she visits home. This past weekend's treats were pumpkin cookies with cream cheese icing and pumpkin muffins. The muffins were moist, full of subtle spicy flavors, not overly sweet, a little nutty, simply perfect. The cookies were HUGE, very share-able, the icing also not overly sweet, the cookie full of hearty pumpkin and spice flavors. But the best thing was the little apple pie. The crumble on top melts in your mouth, the crust is flaky and the apples taste like they were just picked. A perfect late summer desert. Looking forward to the next delivery! read more

We were a party of 5 for breakfast. We all ordered breakfast sandwiches, I got some extra muffins and pastries for later, and we all ordered coffees. My sandwich, which I think was called the Dolce special, was delicious. HOWEVER, we had to wait 55 minutes to get 5 breakfast sandwiches. Not only that, but one of the extra muffins I ordered didn't make it into the bag, and when I went back to the counter to ask, she said that I hadn't ordered it at all. I KNOW I did because I ordered exactly the right number for the people I was serving later, but she didn't agree. So, I let that be. And when the sandwiches FINALLY arrived, two of them had the wrong toppings. The girl who brought them out did not offer any sympathy or apology. We had to take the sandwiches apart and remake them with the right order at the table. Unbelievable. So disappointing. To be fair, it was very busy. I get that. But the bigger issue, is that after having waiting basically an hour for some breakfast sandwiches, there was no apology for this really, really long wait. I know that this place does a great business, and my sandwich was very good, but the customer service was awful. As I waited, standing inside while my party was outside at a table, I did hear the girl at the counter start telling people that anything with eggs in it would take at least 40 minutes. Huh? I actually could have driven home and MADE 5 breakfast sandwiches myself, to order, and cleaned up faster than this. My bill for this breakfast was $68. We all left disappointed and feeling unappreciated. Will not be back. read more

Love love love finding legit bakeries. Especially now I'm an L.A. resident and have to do without...The croissant is the standard bearer. Dolce D has a killer almond. I keep arriving too late to try a chocolate. They must be good because around they 'aint. I will persevere.
