I love this place! So sad it took me 4 years to find! Way way better than the other places like this around town! I love the idea of self serving paints so you don't have to wait on them to come give you a refill. I like that the most used paints are already on the table and more than one size paint brush is provided! They had lots of good options for pieces to paint. The pottery pieces were the same as any other pottery places. I can't wait to come back!

This spot is a hidden gem! I booked a table for 6 at 2pm on a Saturday for a group of girlfriends. They have a large selection of pottery pieces to paint and a wide variety of paints to choose from. Our table was booked for 2 hours but we weren't timed/rushed out and probably went 15 minutes over our timeslot. The $10 deposit to book the table was deducted from my total and the table would've fit 8 people. This is a great activity, especially as it begins to get cooler out.

I wanted a fun family event to do with all my kids and hubby for my birthday. Decided to come here as the littles enjoyed the story time events that they offer. This was our first time not attending a special event. I was easily able to reserve the table online and when we arrived day of it was all set up with my name of the board. Everyone was having a great time at first then my two year old didn't like something then had a fit. The staff was helpful and brought over some crayons and coloring papers that they use for younger children. It also came in handy when the four year old was done with his art work.

My husband and I came here to make a "birthday plate" for our infant so he can use it each year on his birthday. We brought our 6 month old & decided to let him "finger" paint a plate also to give to grandma for Christmas. The staff was so welcoming and helpful & made the entire experience so enjoyable. I think the prices are fair considering you only pay for the pottery and the paint, firing, etc is all included in that price. We paid $25 for a large plate and I think that's appropriate. We are definitely coming back! Side note, they have a nice changing table in the bathroom and are super baby friendly which is nice.

Such a cute little place! I remember coming here as a kid and loving decorating my own pottery pieces. I recently came back with my younger sisters and boyfriend. We all had a great time choosing pieces and painting them. There is a wide variety of pieces to choose from plus so many beautiful paint colors. I made a reservation with no issues and the place was not crowded (surprisingly) for a Saturday afternoon. The price per piece is reasonable (since it includes the piece, color, time, glaze, and the firing process) but it is on the higher end of the price range. Doing Dishes has a relaxing atmosphere, and a very friendly and helpful staff. Truly a great place for adults and children. We will definitely be back in the future!

I came here a few years ago and today with my co-workers. Such a great place to be creative and socialize. You can bring your own drinks and food. Great for kids. There are a lot different pottery options you can choose from plates to mugs to animals. They provide the paints and materials for you. The staff is nice and are willing to help you. I got myself a small sushi plate and painted little cute sushi with smiley faces. After you paint, they will glaze it for you, fire it and then you come back a week later to pick it up. Love it! Great for everyone! Don't need be an artist to do this.

Took my kids and husband here for a little family outing and we had a great time. Nice, clean and quiet space. Extremely helpful staff. The pottery was a bit expensive but in my opinion I don't do places like this a lot so I had no problem spending the money. I can't wait to see the results of our art work!

Great for date/family night. You pick what you want to paint and in a weeks time you pick up your art. You can walk in or do reservations.

I absolutely love every aspect of this place!! I went for ladies night with a bottle of wine for one. I brought my own opener(didn't know the etiquette) and a long time friend. I will say this is not necessarily a mingling deal.... bring a friend or few. It's a great personal therapeutic thing to do while BSing or philosophizing with family or friends. I can definitely see myself there for regular hours not just ladies night. It's a great way to hang out with non drinkers whether or not it's ladies night. I can totally see family w kids fun as well. The staff(for lack of better word) were soo helpful and attentive. I was verrrrry ambitious for my first ever piece. They did't make me feel stupid during my beginner artistic process. They definitely are the best!

Doing Dishes Pottery Studios is not like standing over the sink in your kitchen, staring out the window into the yard while you mindlessly wash away... This is a fun and interactive place to pick up some home decor items [plates, bowls, mugs, vases, utensils, piggy banks, etc etc etc] and instead of just picking out which pre-established design best suits your needs, you get to design them yourself! There is a huge wall of pottery to choose from. Some of my favorites were the Peace Sign Piggy Bank [$17], the Milk and Cookies Mug [$16 - there is a little cove underneath the "mug" part of the mug to store your cookies!], and the large square vases [$32]. But there are so many things to choose from, I think you could spend hours trying to decide what to make. Once you make your choice, you pick out your paint colors and get going! They have stencils, tons of different brush sizes, and even little squeeze dotting tubes to help with the intricate designs. I painted the Peace Sign Piggy Bank. It takes three coats of paint to completely cover all the white of the pottery. It can take some time to complete, for sure, but when you are done it is really exciting to think that you, yourself, created something artistic that you get to use and display in your own home. I think this is a great place for groups, little kids birthday parties, family outings, church groups, etc. It is wholesome, creative, and a lot of fun. They also do camps during the summer and can come to various locations for large enough groups [ie a church or a party at someone's home].

Had a super fun time with the mini me when we came in for toddler time. It's one of the best things to do when you have an afternoon available. We got to pick a seat at the table and follow their step by step directions to complete the art piece that was chosen for the month of March (every month is different and it's usually once a month) this time it was a handprint on a salad plate. They were super patient as each child picked the color they wanted for their handprints and dots. They do have aprons for the kids to wear which is good if your concerned over getting paint on their clothes. The snack was a great bonus and the story was fun for the kids to listen to. They texted me when our piece was done (about a week). I definitely look forward to trying out the rest of their studio.

Looking for a great activity with awesome rewards...Doing Dishes Pottery Studio is your place! This was my 3rd time here...and nothing about this place is bad! You have plenty of choices of pottery to paint, plenty of paint and pens to decorate with, and they supply the brushes and fire the piece for you. Come in, pick out a project, and paint all day...if you want! The staff is very friendly and will help you with colors, ideas, stencils, and any questions you may have. The shop is located right on San Jose/University, so you can't miss it! You can even host a private event, if you have 10 or more people in your party. The great thing about Doing Dishes, you can bring food and drinks for your party. They do have, to buy: soda, water, and a few snacks. Your cost is simple....what ever pottery piece you pick and $6.00 studio fee. Easy Peasy...and then 1 week later...you have a piece of art work YOU made!

I enjoyed painting my coaster set and Miranda made certain I had all the paint I needed, topping off my colors when I ran low. It was a pleasant and enjoyable way to spend several hours.

We had a…read moregood time yesterday and we both had a great experience painting but neither finished, and the employee working at the time told us our pieces could either stay there or be taken home to revisit again soon. We choose to leave them there to come back this Saturday afternoon to finish them. When we came back around 6pm it was really busy so her and I waited until we were spoken to and then communicated to an employee we were told we could leave our pieces here- and were told they weren't supposed to do that and that they couldn't find the 2 pieces. We were both already sat and wanting to do the work so we were discussing if we wanted a refund or to start fresh on new pieces. We spent around 10 minutes talking about this and not once were approached, after around 5 minutes of waiting to be attended to the other worker in the store that was handling the party- asked what was going on and offered to look for the pottery again. She looked again and was able to find it- at this point it had already been 20 minutes, so she gave us the pieces and we were just sitting there. We proceeded to sit there and wait for her or the other worker to approach us about paint (since you cannot go get your own paint here by policy), and were not approached for another 15 minutes. At this point, even with how excited her and I both were to come back to paint.. with the experience of our pieces being lost- then found, and then being made to wait on top of that was kinda experience ruining and my girlfriend wanted to leave. Both workers were quite nice, especially the one handling the party just wish there was more workers scheduled for weekends that are so packed- felt kinda forgotten.
